As the title says I want to proofread/edit one chapter for free. Why? I have my personal reasons. ;)

I’m still trying to find time to finish someone’s else story I offered to edit, but since their work doesn’t have terrible grammar or weird stylistic writing, I wanted something that gives me a challenge. (I swear I’ll get it done asap good sir!) But I cannot devote much of my time with school, work, and other projects, hence why only one chapter.

Yes, so you can post your story links and a mention of which chapter you’d like to be proofread/edit. And I’ll choose ONE story that I think I can “flex” on lmao. And then I’ll post the edits here of what I changed. (Kind of like the proofread/editing version of my Free Review thread where I posted them on the thread itself too.) So you’ve been warned. This is basically a public demonstration of how a story can be improved, so it’s not for the insecure or stubborn but those wanting to learn and improve.

But of course, conversely, I welcome all to debate my edits. I don’t claim to be perfect or right all the time and can only do the best to my knowledge. Which, being modest, I think is pretty good. I’m willing to learn too, so I hope to make this a fun learning process for all.

Please, don’t make this a promo-like thread. No book cover images, no bold or large title fonts, or synopses. Just a link and which chapter you want edited, preferably 1-3k words min/max.

          I'm not sure about what kind of chapter you want? One with grammar/synthax bad enough that you can totally rework it or the opposite? (At first glance seems good, but with many tiny flaws that add on or things that could be changed to improve the flow)

              Arkinslize Anything you want~! (: I’m ultimately going to chose only one story that I deem I can edit a lot of grammar mistakes and other types of technical writing errors. So I have a feeling anything you’ll submit probably will be okay. xD Your writing in the forums looks fine you see, but I’ll still check the book if you post a link. Who knows, maybe whatever I skim, I’ll get interested in the story and then add to my library as a side bonus to this editing offer. 🤷🏻

                  Chryiss I think I'll post a link later after preparing myself and saving up for a paper shredder. My eyes bleed whenever I have to edit my works so I think this event would help me...but it may damage your eyes. I'm too poor to give compensation. <3

                      ValKree Eh it’s okay lol! I’m giving out “cheap” freebies because I only have time to hard-edit one chapter of one story. Which story gets chosen, idk. I’ll let the thread sit for a few days and then choose a story when I have several options.

                          Chryiss Oh, I think I have an idea! Is it possible to request an edit for a novel I started on another account? Of course, I'll post it with the intended account and I think it'll be super quick if it's chosen.
                          The novels are also written by more than one person but we think our grammar is atrocious nonetheless. Each chapter is more than 500 words, but less than 1000.
                          Or... maybe I'll just post my favorite one from this account. Average chapters are about 2500 words in length. I'll sleep on it.
                          I highly doubt my novel would be picked, but I'll shoot the hoop. Since I couldn't join the review thread, I'm hopping onto this one for sure! Thank you 💙

                              No problem for me if you want to have fun on my webnovel to give a public demonstration on how editing can be done. I can take critics. And i would be glad to see first hand how my 1st chapter can be improved.

                              Chapter 1 is 1500words long or something, but some adviced me that it would be better to merge the 1st and 2nd chapter together.

                                      Arkinslize I don’t care about content when editing, so it’s fine. (: Besides, most of the books I read on here are geared/marked for a “male audience“ according to WN. I enjoy all genres~

                                          I was thinking of giving the first chapter of my favourite one on this account but I already see the 'red' marks all over the page. Excessive use of 'and' which dies down later. So, here is the chapter I would love to have edited as it is the first major event. It would be confusing without previous chapters though so that's another good reason to decline. :D

                                              YoungOneStories Um, did you read the first post? This isn’t a review. I’m not going to tell you how to improve your story—I’m straight up fixing the grammar and correctness of your writing according to American English rules.

                                              So I’m not going to be “reading” 13,000 words nor 5 chapters. It’s one chapter of editing. And only one story will be chosen for this.
