SOME are saying its good and Most are saying its bad. Confused??
Shadow Hack: Worth Reading or Not?
Do you like OP character? If so its good. If not, its not good.
At first i like SH, but lately some chapters doesnt have a good reasoning, like when the MC got mad. The reason is so weak it make me think why the hell he got mad just because of it.. and some action of MC like they arent have any reason or just so weak that it looks like the author already confuse how to progress the story.
This is a decent twist on the genre. Although the MC is a bit OP (most are after all) there is a good scaling in his gaining of new abilities and the reasons behind his emotional outbursts are reasonable if you follow the storyline.
i want to know why is so popular than i'm really a super star ...
NewCultivator It's very cliche and he runs over most people he meets
Beginning was okay, but it quickly became crap. The author's matching the story to the MC, so it's impossible to take it seriously. Read if bored.
its not bad, there are worse stories. its all already been said so ill change it up abit :P
its all about perspective. maybe you will like it after reading it and if not drop it like ppl are doing to the prem novels
If you like overpowered main characters then it's okay. I think that the "cheat" that mc gets is too strong .. it just levels for him even whe he is sleeping.

Easy, the translator promised extra chapters if SH gets first place in power ranking, but even with that its odd that it gets so many votes, the novel is not even that good to be in the first 20, so most votes are suspicious
It's a classic 2 out of 5 novel. Instant gratification based on plot armor, unrealistic character reactions and inconsistency and lack of logic all over the place.
ShouldBeStudying Library of Heaven's Path is even worse in every aspect, but one gotta wonder why so many people read it. I tried just because it was always at No.1 spot, wish i hadn't. I don't know how people read that sh*t without pulling their hair out smh...
NewCultivator I have read many novels OP char and no OP char. Shadow Hack is one you would read if you feel like reading shit. Most broken up and useless book I have ever seen, if you understand every other word by chapter 20 then you have world class intuition and reading skills.

N0xiety i dropped the library novel after 1 chapter but i had doubts about my quick judgment. A random guy argued with me that I can't predict the future and pronounce myself without reading 50 chapters of SH ie when it gets good.
So yeah thank you for returning my self-confidence. You can judge a novel pretty accurately after at most 3 chapters virtually everytime.
Why does SH get so many upvotes? Maybe aconspiracy or many people like readin sh1t. I also read MGA that has degraded to literary retarded levels. Even if i try my best I wouldn't match the author in writing so sh1tty. That is great for the sole reason I have been reading this novel is my fascination with how facepalmingly worse it can become, surpassing all exprctations.
ShouldBeStudying So what's your favourite? I would go with Night Ranger.

probably b/c its in first. or maybe ppl actually like it and dump all their points into it.... but probably b/c its already in first :P
N0xiety my #1 is Reverend Insanity for certain. #2 probably Record of a Mortal jorney to Immortality and on #3 either Nightranger or A will eternal or Death Sutra
menurutku bagus - bagus saja
I'm not a fan of the MC... No offense to the people who like him and the novel, he's kind of a, ummm... Hypocrite? Like, he doesn't take people who judge others by their looks seriously, yet he sorta does it too anyway??? And even if I am wrong, I feel like one of the other characters would make a better MC.
N0xiety i read library in heavens path for around 100 chapters.. and so many loopholes in the reasoning.. and how the OP mc always smack people with the same way. After that i never interested to read it anymore. And i review that novel with 1 star. Because its bugging me to see that novel always in top 3 popular or rangking stone.

Dawie Yeah same, it's literally the most repetitive, cliche filled and filler heavy chinese novel i have ever seen, yet somehow it's always at no.1 spot. There is not even a speck of logic in that novel, it's just the dumbest kind of entertainment you can get. I wonder if the community is filled with middle schoolers or something.....

uhm I like library, I wouldn't say it's my favourite ( far from it, in the scope of webnovels, but up in my top 5 if
I rank those of chinese origin only) but it has a "flow" that goes rather smooth.
How can I explain it... it's formulaic and I can predict 100% how it's going to be but I still read it because the face smacking is entertaining most of the time even if it's always the same recipe. It's fast paced.
I don't put much stock about the predictable plot because I have read so much stuff over the years that it's a very rare thing surprising me. I can predict what happens in Night Ranger just the same, I like these two webnovels in that they are consistent within their genre.
Shadow hack on the other hand. yelch. I found it much much worse on a lot of points.
Repetition of plain info dumps/expositions, that is the worst kind of padding ever because they don't advance the plot at all, they just pad the word count without adding any new information, rewriting the same information chapter after chapter after chapter.
Then there are glaring inconsistencies, for example in one chapter the MC gains millions of currency with little effort, then spend it all, ok so far so good, but if you do that you CAN'T have him be excited about thousands of currency the very next chapter! that would be equivalent to me finding a cent on the ground and be all "OH MI GOSH A CENT! I AM NOT POOR ANYMORE HUR DURR DESPITE HAVING SPENT 100000% THAT AMOUNT JUST HALF AN HOUR EARLIER"
So, yeah, I dropped shadow hack, I didn't drop library because it's at least enjoyable in the "it gets a grin out of me".
There is nuance, I don't skim library, I skim IRAS, comes down to style/preference I guess.
It's also a matter of the niche formulaic webnovels are for me, which is "lunch break tidbits" i.e. "it has to be entertaining and not require me to think too much", the better IPs have the honour of having the evenings, but they have a lot of competition for my little precious time ;)
I drop reading it. It doesnt have logic in it. The MC attitude is annoyance and the story is a mess.
I can't see the idea of logic in this story. It looks like boring to read
NewCultivator "Haters are more but its still number 1?!"
Wait a minute... isn't that like... Trump? o.O
It's a conspiracy.
Lol
NewCultivator Its simple, many of the complaints of blah blah blah is people sweating the small stuff. For me i like it cause the shadows part of the story is interesting. And people like OP MC.
"Power.
Together, we eradicated the enemy and became strong.
HP. ATK. DEF. GOLD. EXP. LV.
Every time a number increases, that feeling...
That's me.
"<Name>."
Now.
Now we have reached the absolute.
There is nothing left for us here.
Let us erase this pointless world, and move on to the next." -Chara
The reason I liked the novel at first was simple: it was all the fun of leveling up a character in a game without the filler. The MC got new levels and skills every chapter and it was satisfying to watch him become OP faster than even he could fathom.
But then the filler bull$hit did happen and the quality has been steadily declining ever since. I still keep voting for all the extra chapters, but even that too has lessened as of late.
NewCultivator Overhyped novel.
Good things
1. Good Cover
2. Nice Powersystem.(lately it's confusing)
3. Interacting translator.
4. Different and weird world.
And some things I don't remember.
Bad things.
1. Nothing special other than powers stem.
2. Crap story.
3. Bad writing.
4. It's getting confusing.
5. Bad detailing.
6. Stupid and unimportant characters.
7. MC character is nothing special.
And many more.
I read it for the powersystem and shadow hack. But it's getting dull nowadays.
It's good for me.
NewCultivator It's been in first place since it won the vote, even during the voting phase before we knew the quality of the work it got a record number in only a week.
NewCultivator because many readers that is why still #1
The beginning and the premise got me hooked on the story tbh, if you ever played League of Legends then you would know who the mc ( or shadow hack) got a bit of it's idea. I liked the fact that the mc can create his own shadows and make them fight for him which is why I kept reading this but later on story feels a bit stale, like predictable; mc hasn't lost yet technically, confusion and he keeps hiding his true skills in moments that would be otherwise advantageous in both present and future.
As of chapter 141 -
Story can be hard to follow for casuals
WTH just happend moments in plot
still OP currently :D
Chapters are bit less due to after effects on shadow hack craze
Still I think it's worth a try to read the book, the intro got me hooked, perhaps you will find that moment :) Or if you got bored you can always drop it, after all there is still SOS or LOHP :D
TsukkiHa I will try to read.
BTW Whats SOS?

I would answer a lot of replys here, but since this is not the thread I created 4 days ago, "Shadow Hack: enlightenment thread", I will not do it (which further buries in my head the idea that some people are only giving hate in the novel ). I'll just write something about the novel and not something generic that can be used to describe most of the novel.
Whether this Novel is worth your time or not depends on you, obviously.
Shadow Hack has a unique system (the shadows) and the already used in other novels: game system. But unlike other novels, the system here is always present, whether in a fight or dialogue with other characters. Yes, even though he only communicates with the protagonist, the system is always present in the conversations and fights since he has his own intelligence and is even able to make choices on his own.
The protagonist is exactly what the synopsis promises; a normal guy with no talent using a cheat. Everything he does -or try- is thinking of getting stronger and just that.
The characters around the protagonist are very shallow, so far I've only taken note of four of them. And when I say shallow, is about they be the same thing that we see in other novels.
The world building is complicated and confusing, especially in the beginning, but after chapter 74 everything becomes easier to understand (with me it was so).
And I can not help but mention that if you're the type who likes the minuscule details of the environment where the scene is played, do not even start Shadow Hack because those little details are summarily crushed.
And we come to the part that most annoy people, the development of history; In most novels development goes on like this:
• Weak protagonist
• [Some reason] starts to get stronger
• Disagreement with the son of some Lord or even the Lord
• Protagonist is humiliated or ends up killing someone he should not, so he is expelled/hunted
• Protagonist gets more stronger
• Protagonist returns and annihilates those who humiliated/hunted him
• Repeat
But in Shadow Hack this line only goes to the second point. The rest is totally different and unpredictable. It is one of the main reasons I still read this novel despite the author's terrible ability to put into words what he imagined.
Feel free to come to my thread to be enlightened: https://forum.webnovel.com/d/3602-shadow-hack-enlightenment-thread
ShouldBeStudying Hello, Seer. Hue
N0xiety You still mad about LOHP? That explanation is not enough for you? Is there still something that bothers you? I can explain to you. :))
