Fanfic writers represent!!!
I wrote (and still write) fanfictions on both Fanfic.net and AO3. Fanfiction shall forever be my one and only true love. In fact, I consider Chinese YY novels/Light Novels as a sort of Fanfiction writing. Especially the historical ones. We all have our favorite era, our favorite general or emperor, our favorite empress and write a story around them. Harem intrigues are actually just big fanfictions
There is no better way to realize that you too can write than by starting to build upon someone else's work! Happy to see you've found your path!
What made me start writing?
Right! Everything is a fanfiction/art/tribute to something else. Most of the art in the Lourve is a fanart to the bible, a Greek Myth, or a historical event. Everything is based off something, part, and pieces of a new whole. Every few years there's a new interpretation and it's amazing how humans can keep making things new yet classic.
Though Chinese light novels and a lot of Japanese translations are more of a mashup than anything exact (usually aesthetics) it's because there's something about that era/thing they love. Fanfiction is an underrated art form full of love. If I could print and display my favorite fanfic reads in some nice hardcover books to put in a pretty legit library, I would- bc there's so many fanfics out there that are legitimately better than published material.
I see you legitly responding to posts/ppl and like- mad props.
NingZuoYouXiaYu I am not a writer, my hobbies are prose and history. I read a lot of history books, probably 3-4 thousand books. Before that I read fiction, read about 12,000 books.
But here historical documentary books turned out to be many times more interesting than fiction.
There were ideas that I wanted to share with people. In the hope that they will be interested in the history of the Silk Road. This is a very interesting topic, it includes cooking, treasure hunting, trade, gold and lost manuscripts!
But although I have been writing for a long time, but I have stories, the emphasis is on information and not on the emotions of the characters. Therefore, I have my own circle of regular readers, there are not millions of them, but there are a couple of hundred people.
I was in third grade when I figured out people actually wrote books and that some library fairy didn't just drop them off every week... Then I decided to write one for my little brother. Found scraps of it a few years ago during a move but have since lost them...

Tomoyuki They aren't readers. How can a person following you for so long say like that?
Beside, make a new start?
What the hell? I like it. So, I would do it.
Have that attitude.
Success will come if u don't give up.
If u give up so easily, doesn't that mean those shitty people were right.
Just think about it. You dropped it because they said it to you it was bad.
If you don't love what you created than who will?
It's too soon to give up.
Make a new start and show them that they were wrong.
ReincarnatedSaint I can't begin to count the number of new starts I've made. I've written over 20 stories across several different writing websites, only to delete them over and over and over again because readers harass me and demand that I leave the site or remove my stories, as you saw in the comment above. No matter how many times I write, rewrite, or try again, I get the same reaction and hate.
Since it's obvious that I have not improved at all even after writing 20 different stories over and over again, it's clear that I lack the talent, and a hopeless case, and should just kill myself because I truly am a waste of space who doesn't deserve to exist in this world.
Tomoyuki Give me the name of your story. I will see what's the matter with it.
Even though I am not an expert, I will give you an honest opinion.
ReincarnatedSaint Sorry, I would rather not. Thanks for the offer but I can tell you that every possible thing that I can do wrong, I did wrong. My writing is terrible, my characters are stupid, my plot is s*, my pacing is screwed up, I am trash and there is no logic or coherency to my stories. I probably spend more time ranting and breaking the fourth wall than actually writing the story.
I have no intention of sharing my story on the forums because I will inevitably receive an influx of negative reviews and comments the next day from curious readers who check it out, and then leave hate comments because it really is that awful to the extent where people will rage just from reading the first sentence alone, never mind a single chapter.
Tomoyuki You shouldn't worry about the negative readers. Most stories have negative readers that quit the story because there was one thing they didn't like.It doesn't mean that their story was bad.
Don't let their comments make you feel like your story is dumb. We're not writing an Amazon classic after all.Out stories are allowed to be dumb and senseless.
You can't please everyone after all. Just ignore the negative ones.
Demonic_angel In my case, my story really is awful. That's me being subjective and acknowledging the flaws of my writing. I appreciate the encouragement, though.
Tomoyuki No story is a trash. It just depends on the point of view :) Just ignore the comments and have faith in your story
Demonic_angel All right. Thank you.

It's my discord.
I am here to help you get back your motivation.
Got my first negative review last night. The reader only read 10 chapters saying he didn't understand anything (need to have no brain for that lol) and immediately slandered me in his review saying that i'll would probably delete his review because i only had 4+ reviews.
Naturally, i have never removed any reviews and i have only 20 something reviews at chapter 84.
I can imagine how bad it feels to get 1-2 stars reviews lacking total respect to the Author, but as long as you feel that you wrote the story you wanted it's ok i think.
With my experience now, i'm pretty confident that i could write a very popular webnovel by using popular tropes and concepts, with a fast paced plot, a bit of faceslapping and smut scenes. But would i take pleasure doing that? Not really.
For those writing these stories i don't say it's easy to write them. The competition is much harsher. But it is true that it gives this kind of novel an early start and a constant stream of new readers even when the novel is going downhill with an average quality/plot. Many of these novels can get 50-100 new collections a day without any featuring, but their number of power stones are often low comparatively.
Just write what you want, but learn from constructive reviews.
ludo2776 Even I started because of the same reason, though I am not able to properly write down anything. My highest written words are close to 5000 and after that, I have no idea what to write.
