One thing Webnovel always forgets is that this is not China. You don't fking delete what you don't like.

I wrote a novel review about how awful "The Genius System without Equal" is. There were Rape, NTR and nationalism.

The first 60 chapters are good. It seems based on those first 60 chapters, webnovel is trying to fool many readers to read that novel

Now my, along with others many reviews, has been deleted.

One again, I like to point out.

You don't fking delete what you don't like.

There are other good novels that have potential like Hidden Assassin, Trafford Trading Club, Thriller Paradise, etc. Focus on them

Always the same debate. Because rape, ntr or nationalism are a no no for you, doesn't mean that this story is worth 1 star.

The day readers will be able to make the difference between objective and subjective reviews will be the day every reviews won't be removed anymore.

The average reader here would probably give a 1 star review to a Shakespeare's play, because "it is boring", "no action", and so on.

I didn't read the novel you're complaining about anyway. But as bad as it is, the issues you mentionned doesn't justify a low rating.

First read me again, i never said i liked these themes. The main point is that a 1 star review for these reasons(could be something else like, a character you liked died, the mc is too weak or stupid and so on) are misleading. Great stories have been buried under such reviews for less than that.

In a perfect world, there would be moderators managing whether a review is disrespectful and valid or not after the author reported it, but obviously Webnovel doesn't have the staff for that. So the Author manages his story him/herself. The only way it would affect you is if you want above all tell how you hate this particular story, and then it becomes personal.

Secondly some authors here make a living from their novels. Sure, some removes all bad reviews, but it is impossible to expect them to keep every review slandering them when it can have a direct impact on their income. Though, i think most authors would keep an honest review, except a few that will never get to the top this way.

Most authors here earns almost nothing. And considering the amount of work behind, keep his cool when writing a review is necessary. Webnovel has created a specific rating system(update stability, writing, world building ect..). Better following it. Naturally, there's also readers spamming 5 stars reviews to support their authors, but that's another debate.

I have never removed a review on my webnovel till now, but a 1star? If such a review was truly objective, i can just stop writing and sorry for all the readers that felt differently.

He is taking it as if the author deleted it but if you read carefully you would see that the two notifications are different.

Arkinslize that's the weakest argument you could ever use for anything. If a book has a quality that causes people to not want to read it at all anymore and look at it in disgust then it's worth a 1 star review. Whether you like it or not it's his opinion and it's an opinion shared by a lot of people that if something has NTR they won't like it or won't read it. In fact having this one star review probably even raises the average review level of the series since it will keep other people who would otherwise be completly turned off from the novel from starting it in the first place.

Second: if you litterally make a webnovel and quit your job the same day you deserve to be homeless. Only after your novel hits off should you start thinking to tranistion to full time. There's risks involved but it's the same risk litterally every author and creative occupation has to face and if your stuff is good then it will continue to do well but if it's bad then it will get bad reviews.

Here's a fact that if you want to make it as an author whether here or out anywhere else you have to be better then most other people and just deleting your bad reviews and trying to blame the bad reviewers for not liking the series is just hiding it's problems from yourself. In fact from what I've read online in the past, if you create a novel on a website like this and your not well known you SHOULD have a lot of good reviews in comparison to bad reviews because the only people that start reading your stories are going to be the people that are most predisposed to reading it in the first place. Like your not well known and all you make is vampire novels and then post it on a website with a lot of differnt fantasty. Then the people that will first gravitate to your novels are going to be the hardcore fans of the genre and so if your not well known and don't have pretty much 100% good reviews it means your probably not as good as you would like to think. Whether you give up or not if you here this tells a lot about your EQ. If you give up because your novel isn't perceived as perfect by anyone or if you seek to improve your novel or your content with making novels for certain audiences that maybe not all people would enjoy whichever decision you choose is up to how you think about it.

Also if you didn't delete something when someone says you did all you have to say is that you didn't delete it. Also reading the reviews to the story that OP is complaining about there is definitely something wrong with the story. The translator litterally deleting reviews and then posting fake good reviews on differnt accounts for instance

one literally read 0 chapters and obviously copy and pasted half the review. In fact in all of the good reviews almost all of them say that the reader read 0 chapters so it's either a bug or really suspicious. It's not like im against deleting reviews entirely but there's definitely ways you can abuse it and it seems to happen occasionally on this website.

It is his opinion, but it is not objective. Especially if a story is correctly tagged and previous reviews have mentionned such things like ntr, rape and co. Game of Thrones would be basically slandered everyday each time an important character died or suffered this way. A Webnovel is basically raw writing. You're writing a first draft. Human brain is wired in such a way that we only see the bad. On a website where the average story rating is above 4.5, what do you expect? A 3.5 rating is enough for half of the readers on webnovel to never spare an eye on your story. The review section is basically the novel's front. It needs to be appalling. By keeping pertinent reviews, you avoid the wrong readers to read you. It is a win win for everyone this way.

That's an empty debate. Every week someone creates a topic like this one and the same answers are given.

Once again, i don't say the author in question is not abusively deleting reviews. Just that the reasons invoked above, are not what makes a 1star review worth to be kept.
But with the examples you gave, yeah you're probably right. For info, even the Author of Supreme Magus regularly deletes reviews, his rating dropping and rising again from 4.6-4.7 to 4.8 every few days. Does anyone complain here about it? Never.

On royal road you can't delete reviews, and when others authors with fake accounts deliberately create fake reviews to bury you, you can't do absolutely nothing. There is no perfect solution.

Only if Webnovel and authors could correctly tag their books... it would save them and us so much time and nonsense.

Writing the review means asking about our opinion on the story.

It has nothing to do with rape, NTR, gore, etc

I gave my opinion on the story, the translator/author doesn't like it, so deletes it.

What's the point of asking the opinion?
