I have read an old forum post on how the views count works, some of them said with every single click, and some said it's how many people clicks in your novel page no matter 1 or 100 chapters, it's considered as a single view.

That thread was closed before they even get an exact answer.

So I tried an experiment on my own novel and found that the views are actually counted based on the how many pages have been viewed, how examples I flipped 30 pages, and my views increase 30 views.

However, I'm not sure if that's really how it works, correct me if I was wrong.

And if I'm correct, then it will be really suck.

AI380 I’m not sure if every page turned counts a view, but I am quite positive that at least back during when only scrolling was available, opening a chapter or just the book itself counted a view. That’s why view counts are overinflated. Someone could accidentally click on a book, and then that automatically counts as a view. I imagine that each chapter’s individual page doesn’t count as a view. Otherwise, translations might spike enormously if it was coded that way.

Additionally, I believe bots scraping content add a lot of views since right after creating a book, it’s not uncommon for the 0 views to suddenly become double or triple digits in a matter of seconds or minutes. It’s a really strange and illogical jump that occurs, especially for relatively unknown books/authors.

I’m not 100% confident about all this as these are mainly suppositions based on personal experience and hearing from others. But I’m about 90% so? Lol~ anyway hope that helps a bit. I’m sure someone else will come along with a better, more certain answer. xD

It is one view as long as someone open one chapter, whether he/she reads it or not.

As Chryss said there are scrapper bots reading randomly or not? some novels.

By experience, i remember that when my novel was chapter 30 something, i wasn't doing more than 3k views per day and it suddenly spiked by 8k views in 2h. It wasn't reflected in valid views. Never happened again at least not in such an obvious way, but there's definitely scrapping bots.

StoneColdTiger ...... You can neither prevent them nor use them. Normally, bots are fake visitors that steal chapters from the site and show them on other sites without permission from Webnovel or the Author. But those bots aren't the only ones, there are also bots from Google, Bing, and other search engines, etc. that crawl the sites to update their store of links.

Just ignore anything related to bots.

AI380 No1 knows because WN will prob never comment, but I presume its everytime someone loads the book, whether synopsis or chap. Because it is not inflated enough for it be each chap. Compared to wattpad, WNs views are inflated even when wattpad views count as every load on chapters. Valid reading reading are the real views, so comparing that, its just loading the page or maybe even just some1 seeing it when they scroll through. WN cant be every chap because if it was that then it would be super inflated since lots of WN books have 100+chaps. Thats why Im guessing its everytime it loads, at the very least loading the synopsis page

Also WN definitely has bots, whether if its just scrappers or not as normally you could prevent those as views like with Wattpad which has like 5-10x a userbase. This is probably the primary reason why they will never comment (or maybe just cause of the bad service...) so writers r more encouraged to write unlike seeing no views for days-weeks in Wattpad
