As the title said. I found my book been published in the website named wuxiaworld or something like that, while I never published it there by myself, is it even normal? It does include my pseudo though...
My book getting pirated?
Shadowfang I'm curious too, mine here is free as well, what's the benefits of doing that? (Aside for free promotion for my story)
And most ridiculously, I found another light novel website doing that as well.
sigh
my books are stolen regularly. There is a way to take down the novels with a DMCA. I haven't done it yet, but if you go premium you might want to.
Since my story is still free, so I don't think it's necessary to do it right now as that person did not gain any profits through it as well.
AI380 That person already earned from your book. In short words, its not human doing, its the bot they bought/written that uses wn fastpassess by creating myriads of accounts to unlock premium chapters and just scrap all the novels it can. They are all free on their sites, but they earn from ads

MotivatedSloth I doubt if they could actually earn anything from my book, it's not like my book is a popular series or what, or do they just randomly stole every single thing they can get in here?
Even ads required clicks right?
AI380 There are all sorts of ads. Most of them pay very little for being shown to the end-user while paying several times more by being clicked, and paying the maximum amount for the user directed from the ad actually doing something that ad was supposed to prompt him into doing.
That's why bots scrap almost every novel they can find. It's not like it cost them anything, yet even non-popular novel can get them 1-2 cents. Pirate 10.000 of such novels and you have a hefty sum for no-cost. And don't even get me started on the snowball effect, where people that already read on pirate sites, would look for new novels there instead of WN

This actually demotivated me from continues writing.
By the way, why the hell that it sounds like it's my fault that I get pirated? It's not a nameless writer like me could do anything about it right?
Tsk... human beings...
Hello AI380
All the readers on illegal site aren't in bad faith. Some simply don't know where the novel come from and that it's free. You should add something in the "author thoughts" at the end of the chapter, here an exemple:
Dear reader,
If you're reading this chapter on another platform than webnovel.com, know that it's an illegal copy diffused without my authorization.
If you want to read this novel for free, you can create an account on webnovel.com, the content of this novel is free to read. It won't provide me a financial support but a moral support I can't have here. Moreover, on the original platform, you can comment, review and I can interact with you, which I won't do here.
By doing so, you won't pay a cent and won't risk to click on a suspicious ad. Furthemore you will show me the minimum minimorum respect you can provide me, eg reading the book on the platform I've decided to share the story on.
Thanks a lot, I hope you enjoy the reading.
Just a small reminder - most of the scrappers don't bother copying the author's notes, so its better to put it at the end of your chapter (or at the beginning, just make it not so obvious for even bots to pick up by adding some strange formating)
