hello everyone

i am new author and i am writing a novel right now it has 8 chapters so far ,but its not that popular i don't care about that what i want is honest opinions to improve so plz help me understand what is wrong with my writing . because it doesn't matter what i do it always doesn't feel smooth and easy to read so : How can I improve the flow of my writing?

Zinni Deleted link to prevent possibilities of self promotion. If you would like, you may reword your original post to reflect a more general question, such as: How can I improve the flow of my writing?

Zinni I guess I can consider myself a new author (Maybe?) and here is what I do.

First, I write down a rough first draft of the chapter. It serves to give you a general sense of direction of what you are doing. Then, I'd start re-writing paragraph by paragraph. If I don't like it, I delete it and write a new one, and this is where I try to make things flow smoothly. To finish it, I read it one last time in case I missed anything and run it through a grammar check to make sure.

The downside is that I sacrifice writing speed for quality.

I notice you seem to have some trouble with punctuation, so I'd recommend the use of Grammarly (Can use the free option) and Google docs' grammar check. Just don't follow it blindly since they might make mistakes.

      I hope that helps!

Hi at the moment i am not certain if i still qualify as a new writer. Damn it! I am only about one and a half years old lol.

I will say this though. It will take time to improve and the more you write, the better you will become. Simply set some small goals for yourself.
Lastly, it's great that you are not seeking attention as having a passion for your writing is one of the best drives there is.

Well, at least that is what I think.

Well i wrote my story about a year ago then i check out my grammar it was awful then i revised it i left it around chapter 4 then im on my 8th chapter now but i feel like it wasn't enough. How can i write abit more vivid? Like it was really realistic?

Unsure how story is, but in my opinion to be realistic, you should try to have the character have human (or whatever they are) thoughts and reactions according to their personality.

For example, the clash of negative feels when something is wrong. There are many that build funny, strong, etc. characters but forget that fears, worries and many more feelings exist. Of course, how much they have positive and negative feelings depend on their personalities and their situation.

Something else could be world building. You don't have to over do it, but I believe the small details matter.

Like I previously said, I'm still new author, so take my words with a grain of salt.

Zinni Honestly, just keep writing. I've been on here for almost two years and I would see the difference by going through old chapters. You'll learn to pace things better, being able to fix your writing so that readers on any platform can read easily (for people on mobile, one long chunk of a paragraph can be hard to read on a small device as it becomes vastly larger/compressed than on PC . In my early chapters readers on smaller devices had trouble and lost their reading spot often so I grew accustomed to creating new paragraphs often when I felt that it was right.)

Tip #2. If you wrote a complete chapter and don't like it, leave the chapter alone (don't publish yet) maybe overnight and come back to it, reading it with a fresh mind. Sometimes your mind thinks faster than your fingers so you could really take the time to absorb the chapter without having to think about what's next. This could help fix things like spelling, accidentally skipping a word you though about but didn't write, and maybe if there's a part you don't like, you could change it to still fit what will happen later in the chapter or earlier. Sometimes knowing exactly what happens is easier to write off of than having vague ideas.

If you're really stuck and not really sure about it, asking in the forums is a good idea but if you join the authors discord, there's channels for help. The elders on there and on the forums are all wise ancients who I'm sure wouldn't mind giving a few tips.

And don't forget about your biggest supporters, YOUR READERS! (7>3<)7"
Communication with them is helpful as well since they could catch mistakes your eyes overlooked.

From one author to another, hopefully this helped!

Hi! I'm not exactly a writer (I have not published anything yet, although I am writing a book as of now) but I do have some experience that I hope can help you.
          1. Grammar- grammar can help attract readers, it can also allow you to write what you actually feel or express yourself or your characters more accurately
          2. Details- details depend on your writing style. Some writers write very vivid details, whilst others are quite vague and more focused on other elements of their story, I personally prefer to dabble in both. Details can also help accentuate the flow or mood of your story
          Ex:
Nora thought of her home, the cold damp cement was nothing compared to the warmth of the fireplace. Her silk gown hugged her bodice as her nose wrinkled at the awful sight of the mud clinging at the hems of her dress, her eyes started to water. "What have I done to deserve such extremities?" Her blue eyes became more vivid as she flinched at the sound of a sob. Good Lord, was that really my voice? Nora thought to herself, she could no longer hold back her tears. Lights and shadows danced upon her deep blue ocean eyes as she began to cry, how horrid she had felt.
          3. Mood- how good your story will become and the feel of each scene or chapter will depend on your mood. It is important not to force yourself to write, as this can result to you writing many things that you may regret in the end.
