I feel like I want to violate the rules just to be noticed by Yue-chan. Jus kiddin

This 'necro' term seems new, just like this weird rule that was definitely not in Webnovel's rule book and must have been started by you or another moderator. If this means, regardless of spamming or keeping to the original topic of the post, that you cannot start up or continue with a thread that is over a month old, then not only is the forum completely crap now, but you have also violated this 'rule' by overly submitting to this over-a-month-old thread. Please specify the parameters of this 'necro-ing', and whether the old Webnovel is completely cut-off now.
(Sorry about the tone, but I can't phrase it in any other way)

YulongYuXianTaiyin Sorry for late reply; I didn't see until now! The guidelines of the forum definitely do not forbid posting on threads from a long time ago, but the term "necro" is definitely not new and is a prevalent rule in most forums on the internet. For more information, you can read my moderation guidelines here, which have been here since April, or just simply read the posted version below:

    Necro'd Threads

    Action taken: Thread Lock.
    User Warning.

    What constitutes a "necro'd" thread?

    • Usually, threads that have not had activity since 1 month (or longer) ago.
    • Threads get locked because the content of that thread is outdated. However, if it's still relevant, it won't be.
    • If a user makes an argument for why the thread shouldn't be locked, they can contact @yaoyueyi in the Welcome Thread.

    Why are these threads locked?

    • Most times, old threads like these are filled with inactive users or irrelevant content.
    • Making a new, fresh thread is a better alternative.

    More Severe Consequences

    • If a user is still necro-ing threads after being given warned, they may be issued a temporary suspension.
    • If a user spams the forum with numerous necro'd threads (5 or more), they will be temporarily suspended without a warning.

To explain more: often times, people are posting on threads with people who haven't logged onto the WN forum since like 2018, especially on threads with heated opinions or threads asking for book recommendations. These people are probably never going to get a reply, and it inspires other people to start replying and either continuing arguments or recommending books to people from two years ago. That's why it's very unproductive and does give off the same vibes as spam (and there is proof where I don't lock threads from 2018 that are chain games and the like).

The reason for why this thread is not continuously renewed is b/c 1) I'm not going back and replying back to people from the early posts, 2) it would heavily clutter up my profile if I have new threads for warnings every month (and the threads section is already pretty cluttered with all the promotion/review swap threads), 3) it's just overall more organized to do it all in one thread.

    Hope that explains things!

    User: @CorwynGentry

    User Warning number: 002

    Warning reasons: Review Swap

    Warning details:

Review swaps are not allowed on the pinned monthly thread . Promoting your novel more than once in a month is also not allowed. You have been warned for this before. As this is your second warning, your account has been temporarily suspended for 7 days. Please read the first post in the pinned thread to understand the rules in its entirety, so that next time, the same offense won't occur.

yaoyueyi Who are you exactly to lock my posts? Please tell me who are you. I'm not being rude. I hope you understand. It's not like i care about it but i want to know.

yaoyueyi So you aren't actually a bot. For the last 8 months I was wondering how it was possible for there to be such an intelligent bot that is funny and can adapt to conversations.

[unknown] N-not a bot? What could you possibly mean?

          anger

kitsumirae I'm a forum moderator. RJMidnight summed it up pretty well. Check out that link he posted.

"Anyone interested in fanfics? Please check out this book if you're interested." and "Anyone interested in my books?" is self promotion, and thus prohibited. As a result, they will be locked.

yaoyueyi Okay. I didn't know that. I've seen people promoting their books here though.

kitsumirae Then, you should report them with a ping to me, and I will promptly go and lock and delete those promotion threads. I moderate them within 24 hours of receiving a report.

And do note there's a difference between promoting your book on the official, designated thread/recommending your book to a reader who asked for it and creating a self promotion thread. The former are allowed; the latter is not.

yaoyueyi I see. Then, can you help me with something. For some reason WN is not letting me have an Author Badge. I asked my friends about it but they didn't know what's the problem is. I've published 500+ words but still i haven't received it. Do you know the reason?
