MikXL_23 As long as critiques show you what you can improve they're helpful for sure. Knowing how to take and use that only makes you a better writer. But you also have to take your share of "opinion" reviews that are just about the reader preferring things a different want and holding that against you. Those you're free to ignore and laugh about even.
Any good reincarnation or transmigration novels with an actual mature MC?
Vera_Anne_Wolf True, I'm now in the process of reading your story
This conversation about reviews is great! My reviews are very in-depth and usually not 5-stars. Actually, I have given several 1/5 in the writing quality department alone for bad grammar. When I look at other reviews, they are all 4+ stars.
Reviews on my stories usually are higher than I think they will be as well. On other sites, I’m unable to get rating higher than average. One uses an eight point scale, and my highest score is a 5.7 or so. I’m not an amazing writer. I know some basics, but I also appreciate real constructive criticism to help me improve.
Seems like it is best to polish skills elsewhere...
My story was about this genre. The MC was ruthless and think composedly and def not a retard.
I will update it daily. And it was still newly updated, thats why the chapter was still not many. If you are interested you can check it

MikXL_23 My Story is Of same Transmigration genre but it has its own unique and different plot.
This is my First novel

Wanna give my story a try? It's a transmigration where the MC is still in college, but in the process of maturing. Though he has his faults in the beginning, he grows through his own ways and tries to think through things rather than jump into combat.
Title: My attack stat is negligible...

that is very good. There are many reviews i see on this site that are simply just a pointless 5 star with no real critique. I, by all means, am not a master writer. But seeing stories have 5 stars and a generic "wow this was great! Will definitely read more" is kind of a joke. Lots of writers also delete any reviews below a 4 star, (i wont name them, but i know quite a few guilty people). So getting reviews with critique should be taken as more of a gift, even if its not a 5 star review.
edit:only if the review is actually good that is. A 1 star rating saying "dumb dumb dumb dumb" is obviously not critique.
I agree. My current process is to rate the story, and use the comment to tell the author what each separate category was rated. Of course, I also tell the author why the rating was where it was for each category. This way you could look at the review, understand it, and know how to improve.
It takes more work, but I’m hoping this helps people with their stories more.
shadowdrake27 there needs to be more like you on this site
shadowdrake27 can you help me point out mistakes and loopholes in my novel as this is my First novel

I guess. Be patient though, I have one more review swap to do and then three stories I wanted to read for fun. I’ll add it to the library and get to it though. If you want to swap my book is called ‘Destiny Dating’.
Also, sorry for hijacking this thread. I didn’t mean to, haha.
Well, I won't mind a review swap from anyone. You guys can be pretty harsh on it too, as long as it isn't merely insults. I want a honest review so I can improve my writing quality which I believe to be simply mediocre at the moment. I'm also confident in my reviews about fantasy stories too, but I would need to get hooked up on the story if I want to accurately give a decent review.

Sure, I’ll add yours. It might take me awhile to get to, as I mentioned above. Here is a link to mine this time:

shadowdrake27 No problem, I'm already checking yours
Thanks! I’m all for comments. So far, I’m aware that the MC has problems early on... I’ll try to pick up my review speed to get you feedback.

Please do not review swap outside of the monthly thread. Thank you.

MikXL_23 Normal MC who is not so fucked up in the head:
Lord of mysteries (Note 5).
Throne of magical arcana (Note 4).
Troubled and head-fucked MC, if you find someone in real life who is similar to them, run away!
Warlock in the magus world (Note 3-2).
Age of Adepts (Note 3-2).
Some others that are decent:
When A Mage Revolts (Note 3.5 - 4).
The Strongest Gene (note 3)
(I didn't like it very much, but maybe you like it, I don't even know what to think of the MC, I didn't think the novel was good enough and I ended up dropping it.
A wonderful novel in this regard is:
Savage Divinity (Note 5).
The MC suffers a lot in the beginning, is funny in some parts and somber in others. We have several different POVs, which is interesting.
I think the protagonist is very human in terms of behavior, how people should be and not the bizarre that I read in most novels. It also shows the conflict between personalities and ages that the MC had before and the one he has now.
There are a few more but I got tired and I don't remember much of others that are in English.
I hope it helps, if not with your writing and inspiration, with your reading for fun.
Checked world building.
Checked writing quality.
Plot development? Checked.
Logic with minimum possible contradictions within the logic of the world?
Checked.
Checked character development.Originality? Checked. (Within the same genre we can have several similar novels and sometimes some that stand out, when they create a different power system, the construction of the world itself, not just the same system of magician or classical cultivation).
Lord of mysteries, Doomsday Wonderland, Cultivation Chat Group (this was one of the first of its kind to be written and one of the best writings of the chat genre, so I consider it the landmark and reference it as the original of that genre).
Someone wrote about the system for the first time, someone wrote about having an artificial intelligence chip in mind when transmigrating for the first time, someone wrote the first novel of infinite style.
Whether or not these people launched a trend and created subgenres, they were original. It does not mean that the copy is bad, but let us put for example the cultivation novels, some are very good, but it is still more of the same. Where's the deferential? I think that Doomsday Wonderland can be placed with infinite style, but it has the difference, read and you know.
Lord of Mysteries is undoubtedly orginal, even if it uses the reincarnation element and takes on someone else's body and all that genre.
MikXL_23 super detective in a fictional world, mc reincarnates into marvel becomes a detective, but it also has other characters from other films e.g die hard, taken etc
It is very annoying at start and confusing but if you give it time becomes funny. MC is sort of like marvels the punisher and kills a LOT but does it in ways it doesnt tie back to him or he can have a lawful excuse
