mine is a 5 way tie between only i level up, overgeared, king of gods, martial world, and cultivation chat group.

    Without trying to sound rude, having Only I level up as favorite novel is only possible if one hasn't read anything else. It is an entry read for new webnovels readers. Enjoyable, but with many objective flaws. (Imo the manga is better, at least you don't feel the rushed pace)

    Martial World, Kings of God ect.. are not entry read but suffer from over used cliche/tropes/repetitive plots. After 2-300 chapters it's like reading the same story over and over with new characters, new realms and new places. It's lazy writing, as enjoyble as they can be.

    Now, I've begun to read webnovel with these same cliche/fast food webnovels and I used to love them too. I read a lot of them, and after a while you can guess the plot everytime, which kills any chance to enjoy them. So if they're still enjoyable for you, enjoy because it won't last.

    For translated webnovels with a deep/researched plot there's only Lord of Mysteries and Reverend Insanity. The others all lost their way at some point past a couple hundred of chapters. If anyone has a webnovel like these two to recommend me feel free to do it.

      Mine is warlock of the Magus world. It is a definitely unique experience the plot is very good and unique. The writing isn't that amazing but it's ok. Also COS is also good but it isn't in WN.

      True Martial World
      And Lord of the Mysteries

        Throne of Magical Arcana - Interesting concepts, power system, world-building and characterisation.
        Lord of the Mysteries - Interesting concepts, power system, world-building and characterisation.
        A Will Eternal - Fucking hilarious wuxia comedy that has very well written action, and actual character development.
        Silent Crown - Interesting concepts, power system, world-building and characterisation. Downside is that it can be kinda boring and confusing at times.
        Most of Er Gen's work I'd recommend, and also Cuttlefish that Loves Diving.

          He means that every female section webnovel looks the same. 80% if not 90% of the female lead novels have either the word "doctor", "ceo", "wife", "billionaire", "husband", "love" or "kiss" in their title.

          And for having read a fews to learn how to write romantic scenes, well all the tropes and cliches are already overused.

          And I know from discord that my female readers read my novel because they can't find female lead novels that are not romance centered. It's like 95% of the female readers are stuck in their childhood dream of meeting a Prince with his white horse that would give her the moon (which by the way is exactly the patriarcal stuff that feminists try to put an end to. A paradox, since webnovel just proves that most girls seem to be perfectly fine with current society 🤷‍♂️)

          Now, I don't say every female lead novel is like that nor that it's a problem either. It's just an observation. Male lead novels have their own cliche and tropes, but at least it doesn't show too much in the title and there's a wide range of novels from eastern/western fantasy to sci/magical realisme, video games and romance. Of course, romance is almost never the focal point of the story, but it's generally there too since we're not beast either.

              Coiling Dragon, but that is partially/mostly because it was the first chinese webnovel I ever read and it was completely translated too.

              Off the top of my head, Reverend Insanity, Forty Millenniums of Cultivation, Dark King, King's Avatar, Sorcerer's Journey, and Warlock of the Magus World are some of my other favourites too.

                Superstar of Tomorrow is one of the best webnovel I ever read. It's different from the cliche novels. When I'm reading the novel, I feel as if I need to read every sentence (I mean word) and not just skimming like many other novels that I read. It's very immersive.

                Aside from that one, I also love Forty Millenniums of Cultivation. Sometimes it's so touching that I cried yet after a few chapters, I'm laughing because of how shameless the MC is. XD I really love how he acted so shamelessly and proud of it.

                Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss is the only novel that manage to keep me entertained for over 2k chapters, and I nearly didn't skip any chapters when I read this one. (tho, I used to read this outside WN then moved here when the translation move)

                It's Not Easy to Be A Man After Traveling to the Future. For this one, I'll just say: Boss Ling Lan is the best!

                Then, I like History Number 1 Founder. It's deep in cultivation theme, yet it's also funny and entertaining. (though, I really need some help for the many names and terms there. If I didn't read for some time, I'll forget)

                Swallowed Star is also one of my favorites... at least before it changed into space theme and the world is too big for me to follow. The first 400 or 500 or so chapters are really good when the MC started his path and become much stronger. I really love the story.

                There are many other novels that I read too, but these six took the top in this site for me. :smile:

                The opposite can also be said to be true. When you do write something with a female lead that ins't about romance with some dead in the face, douche bag CEO, nobody reads it because for some reason Webnovel automatically classifies anything with a female lead as romantic.

                  I wrote one novel with smutty theme...with CEO in the title...although it's not doing great but there's interest on it. My other book fantasy adventure novel with barely there smut...with a strong female lead...no ones read.

                      The mc isnt ruthless but he does care most of the time for his own survival and I just love how the plot keeps making eth dire, its intriguing and feels realistic imo

                      Altho its got bl as a tag, theres literally almost little to v little about romance or bl, just like any other story w little romance. It mainly focuses on the survival of mc and earth

                      Its not on wn tho, on novel updates - hugely recommend it
