[unknown] Reflection damage is good when you have a large amount of resistance. In this case it was either the reflection of taken damage (an active skill) at the cost of the loss of a large amount of % resistance or buff again his "armor" taking even less damag. So it's not stupid...would you rather take always less damage or reflect a portion of the damage to the attacker but still getting the full damage?
SHADOW HACK STUPID AUTHOR
ciopo U were wrong there. You said 100% reflect and then that the enemy would receive 10% of their attack. They would receive 100% of their attack and it would also be unexpected the first time. Though I still prefer the defence, he has enough attacking skills.
Autarch_GRIM Thanks mate
Well, let me put it another way.
In the cross-ranking battles he already had, it was his abnormal defence and abnormal attack that allowed him to overcome his battles, take for examples when he let the harpies hit him to check out how much leftover damage was he took after 4 layers blablabla..
Was there any mention of him reflecting back 10% of damage taken having any effect whatsoever on the opponent?
Putting aside that it isn't clear if the reflect is based on "damage taken" or "attacking power" .
Besides, that, my random example was a 100% reflect back for 100% of their attack, but that was only 10% of their HP. if MC has 1000 HP and 100% and opponent strike for 1000 damage and has 10000hp, result is MC dead and opponent at 9000 hp!
And the cross-ranking battles are the bread and butter of cultivation novels, so the MC real opponents WILL have magnitudes higher hp and attack power than MC.

Greetings, fellow readers.
The main focus of MC is survivability. Also he most likely never played games seriously so he can not model the ideal character or class. At least I got this feeling from previous chapters. Any real gamer will analyze and model there future path of development since start of a game or since getting system as in his case. But this guy is not a gamer and most likely not very smart and do not have calm or scheming personality either.
As for me I would have sit and analyze all skills and gear even if it is 10000+ pages to read but as you read before he did not want to do that and basically trust some AI to be his coach.
All people have different minds.
Best regards, Denis.

from what i remember about the skill reflection was lower and will be lower then def for a long time. getting more def at this point is way better then taking damage and reflecting part of it. if reflection continues advancing as it is currently then by the time its equal to or surpasses def his def would already be blocking 100%. at that point the only reason to bother with reflection would be for attacks that have the ability to ignore def and lets be honest you know its going to happen at some point in a novel like this one... well it might happen :P
have you ever been hit by someone stronger then you before? it can hurt and sometimes hurt a lot. if its not 100% reflection at current level then he does need higher def as some of it will get through and one hit getting through can be enough to end you in a novel like this.
i honestly want to see him with 100% reflection just b/c i want to read about some sage level prick killing himself :D
This novel is a harem merry go around chasing jade skinned girls around world while increasing his power. I dont expect much of a story from this novel except fulfillment and machismo. This novel really feels dull as i had not have a sense of anticipation from the moment the plot was focused more on relationship then on MC and increasing his power and also dat whole stupid and pointless secrecy thing.

[unknown] maybe the new perk got a better upgrades. Let's just read and see..

[unknown] well right now im looking at it like an older game. he can only activate one perk at a time and can switch between them later if needed. it might not work like that but thats how i saw it.
and if it does work like that he may find a way either through leveling up or something else to have multiple skill perks active.
KingBiBiK turtles are pretty cool though, especially ninja turtles :P
i like mcs who are turtles with lots of OP skills and stuff, basically invincible with powers matching Goku and kill villains like there's no tomorrow and have lots of beauties by side and be a richie rich kinda person....ehem you're right by the way... STUPID AUTHOR MAKE HIM MORE OP..... -_-
KingBiBiK and underestimating "ants" is precisely the reason why higher cultivation opponents never use their full strenght right off the start against MC's ;)
"he's only a <insert cultivation level here>, a single finger of mine with 0.01% of my power is enough to disintegrate him that not even ashes remains" #opponent uses 0.01%# double take "how are you still alive!?" happens etcetera etcetera.
I'm not saying reflect damage isn't cool to be sure, but in term of fightning boss-level entities making sure ones can tank the hit comes first and there is no such thing as too much flat % damage reduction.
But I am biased given a long career as a mmorpg tank, cheers
I am too important to give a fuck
[unknown] There’s probably people with skills that ignore a percentage of defense though
I agree the Reflect damage is more practical if you think about it from a gamer perspective because you want to out damage the person your fighting but if it was your real life on the line then I would pick the damage reduction from safeguard.
If Reflect damage can be upgraded to 100% that only hurts the other person and if that person is much stronger than you he might be ok with taking that damage just so her can kill you in one shot. However with the damage reduction from safeguard even if the person is stronger than you they can't one shot you with any attack that logic would tell them should, and this way you have more options when fighting and can trick people that think they are stronger than you.
If you compare it to game logic then it's like picking between a set of spiked armor or a large shield and if you have ever played as a tank you know that the extra armor from your shield is what makes a tank so key to a team and lets them grind solo better than other.
[unknown] First off all, Wang Lu does reflect damage; second of all, you must not have read much if you think he's a turtle and doesn't attack; third of all, Spirit Blade Mountain is more about wit than strength.
