Honestly, was there a time where you felt somewhat disappointed in your own work? Like have you ever felt that perhaps the book you’re currently writing was not as successful and good as you thought when you began writing it?

All the time...
My very first book and I still cringe, I want to rewrite it.
Definitely disappointed in my own work regarding the first half of the book up until now.
If I had to guess that's 1) A side effect of improving as a writer and 2) the result of looking back at it with a fresher look.
Everything that I write is crap when I look back at it. You would think reading your own work is cool, but every time I do it there is something that could be improved.
Batousan yup... exp this many times.
Whether you are disappointed or not, there is one thing, you don't regret it.
No matter how cringe it may look, it would never be a waste of time- a pianist who play awfully on the keys isn't wasting his time, but crafting himself.
When you write your next book, you would find that you had learn something. Same goes for the other books.
Just will to be so bad; don't be afraid to make mistakes, embrace them and learn.
All the GD time. I am constantly filled with despair, like an overflowing trashcan over the shit content that is my own writing. It makes me occasionally curl into a ball of "never looking at my own work or posting again."
It's sloppy. Pretentious. Too casual. Too fake. Not intelligent enough. Not well written enough. Not even a good copy cat. Unoriginal. Poor in form and tense. Slow. Detailed filled. Rambling.
I could go on and on. There are no writer blocks when talking about how terrible my own stuff is
(Its actually a form of narcissism because you're still over-focusing on yourself even in a 'negative' way. Shame and even intense self-degradation, not a great adaption but very hard to let go. That's an interesting way of looking at it).
My best way to cope is that you SHOULD notice the faults and downfalls in your own past work. The mastery you had 3months ago, three years ago, whenever, should fall behind your current skills. It means you have grown and gotten better.
If you are cringing at your own works (which I often do) , Then WONDERFUL JOB. Now you can make yourself so much better.
Of course, that's easier said than done. Looking back with an open mind is hard. I sometimes can't even read my own earlier chapters in a work, or it takes time for me to (wo)man up to confront myself and get over it. No one is born perfect act anything, left alone the hard honed craft that is writing/making ANYTHING.
Sure your past work maybe isn't what you thought it was, not as 'good' and successful (very hard to measure success). But at the time it was just what you needed to make/express/grow. It's far easier to take, consume, and judge. So easy.
But making something? Being a creator of any kind? You are this god of a universe, creating something out of nothing but your own mind and resources. Amazing.
Thanks to everyone who have given their thoughts. As you can see this is just a newly made acc lol. I actually made this account to specifically ask this question. I was hitting the point where I was dissatisfied with everythingn in my novel, but thanks to everyone I have started to love and see what I can do to improve my work seeing that the story is far from done. Once again, I thank everyone! You peeps have seriously helped in making me feel that being disappointed in your work isn’t something that should be sad of. :))
I believe that it is something normal that happens to any author and much more to those of online novels, also I believe that this is one of the reasons that differentiate us from conventional writers.
As some have said in the comments above, it usually happens that the more chapters you write, in addition to having more experience you continue to improve in your writing, you realize how badly you did before, otherwise with conventional writers, they write the complete book and you can change things as you develop it and after finishing it, other processes follow to improve weak points.
Most online authors have a general idea of their novel and as they write the chapters they publish it
Batousan I will tell you this honestly, any and all writers will feel this at some point. Writing is like an evolution, you constantly improve the more you write and when you go back, and look at your work, you will see the errors. And that's because you have tremendously improved and are looking at your work with a fresh perspective.
Multiple times, I can't tell you how many times, I went back to my previous chapters and did rewrites; I add more embellishments to parts I think are lacking, add more scenes to make the story more coherent, etc.
All that matters is that you don't give up and keep going. Don't feel bad, don't think you're mediocre, believe in yourself. And if you need help, I can guarantee you that you can find some in this forum or even amongst your readers. There are also threads that are made specifically for improving your writing from successful and experienced authors
You can also look for a review swap in the monthly forums and ask for a critical review, I've had review swappers that actually thoroughly read several chapters and pointed out the errors I had.
Its a stage of growing up...one naturallly starts poorly. One will learn the lessons as they go up the ladder.
Definitely see the... flaws... in my first book. Will eventually finish it anyways but as a first work it is both a shame and a badge of pride. The latter because I tried. There's plenty of criticism to be thrown around on the web, but for any writer I think it stands as an accomplishment that they had the guts to put themselves and their work out there for others to see. Even if we hate our own work, at least the attempt was made, so garbage or unrefined gem... it is an accomplishment.
Yep.
