Hey everyone! The forum is getting livelier, so I thought that maybe it's about time we started introducing ourselves. First thing's first, I'm an editor for novels, Jun Jiuling, Global Evolution, Pursuit of the Truth, and one not released yet. I also worked for a bit on Castle of Black Iron and The Wizard World, and now that the boring part is over, a few things about me

I go by the nickname DarkGem, which comes from a poem I read once about my favorite character Raistlin Majere. He’s from a fantasy novel universe Dragonlance, and fantasy is exactly where my interests have been all my life. From the moment I was taught to read, books have never left my hands. Books, then my phone, so I would have my stories always with me.

I only recently ended up stumbling upon the Chinese Novel translations, less than a year ago to be more precise, but I instantly fell in love with them. The first one I read was The King’s Avatar on Gravity Tales, and since I’ve always loved playing MMORPG’s (the picture above is from DDO, and I doubt you’ll ever manage to guess my class), even though I’ve moved to moba’s now, it was a blast. Soon after, I started reading cultivation novels, other game novels, romance, and anything I could get my hands on. I don’t really mind what’s the genre or type (though magic gains a lot of points from me) as long as I get a good story to read.

My way into Qidian was quite a simple one. I saw when they just started out and decided to try my luck at their editor’s test. It was a type of personal challenge, and to my great delight, I actually succeeded! It was a very happy day since I finally got a job doing what I actually like for once. Yes, as you can guess, I’m one of those people that ended up studying something to have bread on the table rather than something they would love doing… Life’s choice’s aren’t easy.

Anyway, moving on from the depressing topic, right now I’m living a good life. Working for QI, having plenty of free time to read and play, and chatting with others editors and translators I’ve become good friends with. Some of whom ‘taunted’ me into making a big decision in my life. I’ve always wanted a pet but never got around to getting one, always finding one excuse or another. But recently, one editor who kept saying he’ll never get a cat for reasons of his own got two. And he was overjoyed with them. Thus, I decided it was time to stop delaying and do something I’ve always wanted.

So here I am now with a lovely not-purebred Maine Coon in my apartment. She’s the little princess of my heart, and I no longer can imagine living without her. And being forced to work with a certain four-legged someone in my hand since she really really wants to sleep in my arms...

Looks for the Pet King tag 😉

I remember the DragonLance Chronicle. Raisrlin was my favorite character. Tho your avatar looks more like th Dark Elf.

Queue Someone who knows Raistlin, what a rare occasion! And you mean my in-game character? It's really a necomancer, just was a pirate event where I needed to farm stuff and a great sword served better there than a staff, as weird as that sounds xDD

How? How did you all stand all those furs, hairballs, living sharp implements threatening to tear your feet to pieces if you're late in feeding them? Maybe I should get a dog.

SemiDevil Dogs are awesome, I would've totally gotten one if I was living in a private house. In an apartment however, I think it's better to get a cat. As to its sharpened instruments of extreme pain, they ain't that bad for people. I'm more annoyed by how she keeps taking and throwing all my stuff over the floor to play  Before leaving the apartment, I have to cover everything, as well as hide anything hand-sized which she could move.

Calm_Spirit Before entering QI... I didn't have any explicit experience like working in a certain company or anything, but I've always been good at English due to reading a lot of published novels. In my free time, I enjoyed writing and was a part of a number of writer groups on royalroadl, even a mentor in writing for a time. There I would receive advice on my grammar, as well as edit others' works once I got more proficient with it. I thought I was pretty good at that time, but after joining QI I saw that I still needed a lot to learn and accepted all the help from other editors that was offered to improve.

Bien, los gatos son bonitos, pero no se comparan a un perro. Bueno, solo doy mi opinion al respecto. Pero yo soy un Team-Dog member... Y otra cosa, (Perdón por mi inglés) ¿Do you know a page where i can start learning chinese?

🤣. Love your banner on the homepage. Cats abound!

DarkGem I've been to royalroal. Although I haven't been active there, I noticed loads of writers are coming out of there. Nice to see an editor too. 😄

you should play cool MMOs like BDO (cause it's an eastern game), Final fantasy and Revelation Online
                          (again eastern to west)

Luta I somehow moved away from MMORPGs in the last 5-7 years and been playing League of Legends, Smite, Paladins lately, if I play anything at all. Though, I'm really looking forward to Ashes of Creation. Hopefully, it'll deliver what it's promising

                              @DarkGem
You should wait some more after the released. There was the PAX meet the other day and they showcased the PVP and PVE segments of the game and they were bad. Not horribly bad but like meh. And this is the first real content that they showed us since the start of AoC.

Luta Yeah, I saw it. As you say, it wasn't anything great, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt since it was something cooked up in three months, or so they say, and they're gonna have another two and a half years to polish it.

DarkGem Yeah, me too. Also, if you've got money you could buy the alpha and beta entrance fees ($225 and $100)

For an indie subscription MMO they have to bring their A game tho

Luta I backed them on kickstarter, so I've got my alpha access, and that's one of the reasons why I really really hope they're going to succeed ;D I quite like their idea of an evolving world, that depending on your choices, the world can end up on many different paths. If done well, I think this alone will keep users playing (even if the combat system is just normal and nothing special).
