I am used to writing fanfiction, but I decided to challenge myself and write an original novel. I have a few details that I would like to write about, them being:
1. Female protagonist, but it can be male as well. I'm just more used to writing females.
2. Cultivation, but I can make it so few cultivators (modern world) if that would be more interesting
3. If protagonist transmigrates to cultivation world or novel world, their body is transported, they do not wake up in anyone elses body.
4. If I add romance, protagonist will be equal or stronger than love interest, but I don't really plan on putting romance in the beginning of this.
5. And finally, a system
However, I am having trouble with deciding what kind of system to use. I don't want to use a video game system or romance based system, as I am not confident in writing with those, but I am open to any other system. So what kind of system would you be most interested in reading? I can provide more details in needed!

Just don't put in romance and it would be an original story
Hmm hard to say without more details but maybe something that makes the mc unique, like if everyone else cultivates she could have a different power system or something.

Use a system like the one in "The Empress' Livestream", the Court Intrigue System for the Female Protagonist as it was never really utilized for what its purpose was for. (Don't get me wrong, I love how the story went in that novel). It'd be interesting to see a high IQ female protagonist scheme her way out of what ever situation you deem dangerous for her.
An acting system where the MC the female protagonist is given roles at certain times for periods of time (Don't know how long, you decide) and she is required to hide her identity and act it out to prevent many conflicts and misunderstandings from occurring. (Conflicts in the story could be taken from failure to achieve certain objectives)
An awakening system where the female protagonist had an accident and became a pure and innocent happy go lucky girl from her previously high IQ and EQ. Every misunderstanding, trouble, and mistakes she made would be quantified in points depending on the severity and on certain days, weeks, months, or years, her previous high intelligence would surface for a certain period of time to solve her troubles and utilize the points accumulated.
(PLEASE, write some female protagonists that are intelligent or unique. There are barely any novels that have unique female protagonists. The only exceptions are probably "Crossing to the Future, it’s Not Easy to Be a Man", "You're Empress' Livestream", and "Youjo Senki"
It depends. Do you have any special interests like gardening/art/cooking? If so you have a bit more knowledge than others and can use that as an advantage to make the story more unique. Gardening system = FL can have green thumb and have to show off the wonders of spiritual plants etc. It'll be unique and yet at the same time educational by putting some real world knowledge in a fantastical setting which can attract people.
If you don't that's okay as well ah. You can try animal tamer system, maybe something really out there like an idol system in a cultivation world, or treasure hunter system etc. Teaching systems are also fun as well ah.

Wow, thanks! Everyone has had some great suggestions! The systems mentioned seem great, and I already have a couple ideas. It does seem smart to use a system that I know a lot about and have interest in. I am not sure if I want it to be more slice of life or more action, and that will definitely influence which system I do choose. I do want to make her unique no matter what, I don't really like the very long weak to strong, I might get bored to quickly lol. So just giving her a different system alltogether can circumvent that. And I'm leaning towards little to no romance now, maybe just very subtle, I'm kind of sick of the typical female lead story that male lead ends up stronger than fl and the love interest becomes basically the protagonist. I want to see a fl cultivate and reach the top without any outside help from a harem of handsome men. No harem and little romance! Thanks guys!

You can try where the FL practices cultivation and decides to become the top cultivation practitioner (or whatchamacallit) and she has to beat all top say ten or twenty practitioner. And every expedition is like a tougher quest for her. It sounds like a video game, but you can make it flow like a story with an overarching tale and central conflict. Every encounter with a cultivationist can be its own episode arc.
I don't know whether there's a novel about this kind of system but i would read a system that:
- Teach the user rather than give them skill/whatever ( This means the user have to work hard to get the skill rather than the system simply install it)
- No point exchange/wheel of fortune (This is the one that i hate about system novel,'oh no my enemy is too strong, what shoud i do. Ah right lets spend the point' procceed to get an OP Deus Ex Machina and slay the enemy)
- Battle Royale between system user (So there's gonna be a few of user and each of them start at LV0 and everytime they win against another user their level increase and more of the system abilities get unlocked)

What kind of system do you want!!!?
I've read a lot of novel with system, but I don't know if my recommendation is in line with your preference.
1.Having a system with personality is good for comedy
2. But, having a system with mostly programmed to follow the rules can be used with drama like story
3. Having a system who is still learning about feeling is good for drama, comedy, tragedy and growing up.
Also... I've never read a novel where the system is doing mission with MC(where the system is not in different space that only MC can talk to them but the system is like a human who has its own body). Maybe someone did wrote them..but it was only for a few chapters and some scene only.
What i mean is.. the system is also with the MC in the new world having their own role like MC has. One of my novel has this kind of system.
Having this kind of system make the MC has trusted parner that can help her in the new world. You can make a comedic duo with MC and system together. In my other novel, the relationship between the system and the MC is like fire with fire. They always fight but is still good when working together. Good work chemistry.
You can also make a system that is evil. Usually, evil system is only for side character that is also the MC's enemy... But, how about make this evil system for your character.
Your character has bottom line when doing things but, this system keep forcing you to break that line..
For example.. your system is harem system. But, your MC don't want a harem because she hates it. She really hate it. But, the system keep giving her buff where every male in that world has a high chance to fall in love with her. Many male will become someone with low IQ whenever they are close to MC. This situation trouble MC because she thinks that this situation has deprived all the male of their freedom. This situation has also create a lot of trouble for MC with another female character that is as strong as her. That female character believe that MC is evil even though MC is not.

These are great ideas! It provides conflict, and can make it very easy for character growth. I love the idea of having separate ideals and differing morals between the system and the human, I think it would be very fun to write!
