Hi! I have been told in the reviews my story isn't very cliché and I try to avoid too many overused topics. (Yes, I added the harem tag, but kissing ain't even happening until I develop all the characters as much needed for the readers to grow attached to, so no harem for awhile ---maybe even several volumes.) Right now it foucsed on fantasy and world building, with heavy friendship and close bonds. Please check it out and see if you agree with others with it being cliché. Because I try to make EVERYTHING as original or not overused as possible. I am new, and would appreciate any advice as how to make it better.

      Feeling all the stories are the same?
      Feel ya. I've been reading web novels for 4 years and really, many plots are already explored. Personally, I read to draw myself into another universe, so after a while, I decided to write my own story, heavily based on my background as a physicist. I would recommend it to you ONLY if you like slow-building tension. If you are interested in physics, then I strongly recommend the book to you. In any case, I have never seen a plot remotely close to it.

      Well I’m uncertain if you're still reading the replies but maybe you should take a look at royalroad or look for novels on novelupdates but anyway I’ve been a reader for roughly four years so maybe I can give you some recommendations that you might not have read yet.

      Hmmm..... some novels that I really liked were Reborn as My Love Rival’s Wife which is quite sweet and romantic along with being hilarious. My Disciple Died yet again is a good one too but hey I think all You Qian books are good. Game Loading is a good book (warning though it’s bl) and I think it might be unlikely you’ve read it. Kingdom’s Bloodline is of course an amazing although kinda convoluted but since you’ve been here for two years I suspect you’ve read it already. Oh and I liked the book Dragoon although it’s Japanese, I hope that doesn’t turn you off from reading it. And I guess ending this list I’ll also recommend the korean book, the great storyteller.

            What I seem to see is that a lot of the novels that get popular often follow standard trope because they are easier to get into.
            Doing something new often makes it niche and therefore not to everyone's taste and the story risks being completely overlooked and so it creates a bit of a negative reinforcement against trying to be original.
            Not that there's anyone to blame for it, just the nature of trends.
