Darth_Xiane Once I'm done with my chaptersr I might take a look into it
Webnovel doesn't care about its readers
I agree with you for the most part. I don't read the comics because the floating-comment-script is maddening to try to read around. I will never again try to read the comics, so long as that disruptive nonsense can't be turned off. That said... Give me passes I can USE. No more comics only passes!
yungsern87 I fell that you are wrong.
RWX buys novels from the same sources (including Qidian in the past) and he's working on this market longer than webnovel.
I believe that the main management problem of Qidian International was in decision to flood Webnovel with novels. With too much novels you have to pay to similar amount of authors and translators. Of course there won't be enough money, because readers were spreading too thinly.
Dwarkin WW model is very diffrent from that of Webnovel.
Plus they don't earn close to what the authors make here. They do more curated stuff selected according to the translators choice.
Somethign like that wouldn't work on WN because they have an obligation to a lot more works than they have.
WW is more like a startup where as WN is a conglomerate. You cannot compare the management situation. There are far too many factors that weigh in, both legal and managerial.

You mean original authors? The whole thing with bringing them here was one of the biggest mistakes, imo.

Indeed, that's why they shouldn't do it in the first place. Just concentrate on best novels and bring new after finishing old.

Yeah, it had grown into behemoth and has too many problems now. I wish we had cheaper prices, or subscription system here

Wow... atleast reasonable people are commenting. I thought I would get some curse comments like everywhere online
yungsern87 I understand. I was not complaining about it or hurt about it. I was just hoping that webnovel might check it or improve since every platforms have problems. Whether they do it or not, it's their wish
and atleast you understood some of my points.
Have a good day
Coolest_rockest03 Well, maybe because most reader also has the same opinion but they did not.....
tell us about it.
I disagree with your title, Webnovel DOES care about its readers, to be more specific, the wallet in their pockets and the money in their wallets.
At the end of the day if you don't like Webnovel but still spend money on it then you're just encouraging them to continue their current practices as they're gaining money from you and thus have no reason to change. If you're not spending money then you're not a revenue source so they won't care about you.
I would imagine they track things like how often users login etc but whether you're happy with them isn't really easy to quantify. I'll also add that even if users are declining in numbers they can come up with any number of reasons that suits their narrative. For example an easy one to use is people are coming back to work after Covid-19 so have less time to spend on Webnovel and hey presto any incompetence is swept under the carpet.
Grand_Void_Daoist My recommendation is integrate a patreon style system into the place. OR a subscription model. If WN wants to grow they should start considering moving into other areas now. They could easily start looking at doing animation or adapt manga on some of the more successful series. Of course I'm just an IT guy.
Nullinvoid the Patreon system is the privilege system in WN. While the subscription system was also tried out but it reduced the authors income to fractions because of which it was stopped.
Nullinvoid they already have Manhua adaptions of their popular series. They even have live action dramas and animations of their popular Chinese novels. They already have everything you mentioned.
ImNotNarcissistic haha... ngl you had me in the first half

AnnoyingADs True...As I said before, we could try, but whether they respond, ignore or try is upto them. Interesting username tho
GegeSadewa Also, this is not a recent trend but something that has been going on for at least a year or so.
Every time anything that could be construed as negative is brought up, the usual toxic crowd appears and makes personal attacks because anything that might possibly be negative is heresy and all 'heretics' must be insulted and misunderstood. Or possibly they just cannot respond to the points made and therefore resort to fallacious arguments. Wouldn't be surprised if reasonable people comment less so that they don't get insulted by the toxic people on this site.
AnnoyingADs Mostly agreed, but reducing or not spending any money on this site will result in a reaction. It could be that they try and explain it away with faulty reasoning. They wouldn't be the first company to do something like that. But if there is a significant enough drop in revenue, they'll either change their ways and/or someone else will see a market opportunity and do it right (or at least better). The barrier to entry for original novels is quite low and there are already larger alternatives (e.g. RoyalRoad, Scribblehub, Wattpad, etc.). And for translated novels, there is still Wuxiaworld and I have noticed more and more groups are starting to translate QI stories again. Even ones that have been dropped here or from gravitytales.
Coolest_rockest03 um then by when the novel reach 100, there will be an additional unlocked (free chapters) for around 200 more?

mng Well one of my favourite anecdotes for reactions is actually from beauty treatments that were popular from the 16th century to the Victorian Era in England. Women in the Roman Empire used lead makeup to whiten their faces, and in the 16th century, English nobles did pretty much the same thing. This mixture of lead and vinegar was known as Venetian ceruse, or the spirits of Saturn. While it may have smoothed a woman’s complexion day-to-day, over time it caused skin discoloring, hair loss, and rotted teeth.
Ironically enough the side effects of skin discoloring required more lead makeup and you end up in a vicious cycle...
So in conclusion when people indulge in toxic practices they're just as likely to double down on it than they are to stop it!
