  • Introduce A Subscription Service Similar To Netflix

$25 is a well above the cost of Netflix's the top package in the UK is only £9.99 and you don't even get I'm sorry to say anywhere near Netflix's level of service on this site the novels some of the novels are still of low quialty and the whats new choices are a joke and they are forced on to us ,
it would be nice if qi did a list of all their works listed in English with small intro about each one and let us the readers pick what we would like and be happy to play for ,
( here's a copy of all the costs and packages BASIC £5.99 STANDARD £7.99 PREMIUM £9.99 )

I haven't got a clue as to how you think $25.00 is worth it even taking in to account a change in exchange rate's
did you just pick a number out of the air? and not even look into the real cost's, of Netflix. amazon and other web services
also i think a few others would be thinking the same, as me due to the fact we only read 1-2 novels and no way in hell is £25.00 a month worth 6-8 chapters a week ever

this type of idea will just force people to just pirate the novels for free more then what happening now

I'm not a 100% happy with the stone wall system as they do need to lower the number of stones to unlock things even if it's by 1-2 a chapter but it's lots better then a subsystem that no one would want if you step back and think about it more then for a few seconds
also, we still haven't seen the promised ad based chapter unlocks for premium stuff yet or the watch a video on the site to get extra free stones thats on the phone app and not the website so if your log in via a pc your already losing 8-13 extra stones comparied with using your phone and wasting data costs on it , luckly i not use both so i log in via pc to do my reading and posting, then swap to my phone when it's on my wifi to watch the 30 sec video to gain the missing stones

as I pointed out the whole site still even after a year + still need loads of even what could be classed as basic things done , and I happen to find this even funnier as Tencent own QI and they are the biggest IT company in China but can't seem to get their basic's done for this website etc , and it's not like the server aren't in fact run of Tencents main IP's and if you go and geo check the ip and address info

Pizz The 25$ number was basically a number I used as an example. It would depend on how many novels we would get for the amount we'd have to pay for a subscription. My main point being that the current system is unsustainable. People have been saying that it costs over 30$ just to catch up on Library of a Heaven's Path for example. If you multiply this by a few novels the prices are getting ludicrous and I really think not many readers can or are willing to afford this.

On the other hand, many would be willing to pay a certain amount per month to get their reading fix. I don't have access to the financial numbers of Qidian, so, I can't say for sure, but I think that a subscription model could potentially be way more lucrative for them than the overpriced system they have now. And again, I specifically mentioned keeping the current system in place for people who won't get enough value from a subscription service.

      LOL
Maybe if the books were made audible I'd pay 25$ a month. 10$ from a few thousand users should be more than enough to cover translators needs on a month to month bases. I feel like we have more people then that though. Show me a spreadsheet with an expenditure cost. Let me see where they are hemorrhaging money.

While I can't say I agree on the fiddly details of charging varying rates for certain novels or amounts of novels, I most certainly agree with the idea of a subscription service over what's going on right now. I read around 7 novels here, and can't afford to spend 50 bucks an update. Having the option to pay on a monthly basis would be far more affordable overall.

WigglerGod one time buy only + servers, developers, editors, designers, lawyers, company bulding (?) And so on

Recurring subscription. Not a one time buy.

Really the current cost to me doesn't seem like it cant be justified AT ALL at the moment.

the best way they could, in fact, make extra cash without changing the main model is, in fact, sell the LN arc's as epub's, GT which is 90% owned by qi is doing now and I've said all along in other posts as well , and one arc is about £3/$4 a release that's about 100/120 chapters depending on the arc and story of course
so they would make money via stones plus the site ad's and then from people like myself , as we would then buy a finish epub and say an ln has 4-6 arc's in it , about £20-30 for a whole book and as it's an epub they one need to make one copy thats is repeatly downloaded so unlike real paper books
they just make one release copy 1st and they just resell it without any extra costs
as the book would have been all ready tl'd and edited for the site this way they get 3 way's to make cash not just one

Agreed, give me a subscription model and I'll wholeheartedly sign up if it's within a certain process tier.

I've basically started to only read novels that are not locked being SS. The reason for this is that when I spend SS to unlock chapters, I'm hosing myself in the long run waiting for the PFF to catch up to the point I've unlocked the chapters. The Permium model is not financially sustainable considering when you're reading any more than 3-4 Premium novels.

I have plenty of other places I can spend my $50-100. This is especially considering the sales tactics Q is using by mass releasing SS locked chapters to create a feeling that the audience is missing out and creating a desire to acquire SS to catch up. While an extreme analogy, this almost feels like a drug-dealer/free-drugs-in-the-beginning vibe. Obviously everyone still had a choice in the matter. Or do they? :)

                Dessem

UnknownDaoist True, till Q doesn't see a drop in revenue they won't change their strategy. Basically, we have to wait for the plateau to occur as more people realize how they cannot keeping coughing up money to support their reading habit.

I like sprit stone systems coz they give few way to get it for free , and from that i read my novel (only 2 tmw and fmoc ) .
$25 it is not worth it as who have time and interest to read all chapters of all the series present here ?
