  • As the title says, why are so many novels about being the: 'wife/mistress/concubine' of some succesful dude. And more importantly, why are so many people reading them, what is it that makes them interesting? I'm genuinely baffled.

If women want to read about a female being a badass, why can't she be single, why does she always need to be attached to some male figure?

And are males actually reading these novels or is the readership primarily female?

    • Pizz The 25$ number was basically a number I used as an example. It would depend on how many novels we would get for the amount we'd have to pay for a subscription. My main point being that the current system is unsustainable. People have been saying that it costs over 30$ just to catch up on Library of a Heaven's Path for example. If you multiply this by a few novels the prices are getting ludicrous and I really think not many readers can or are willing to afford this.

On the other hand, many would be willing to pay a certain amount per month to get their reading fix. I don't have access to the financial numbers of Qidian, so, I can't say for sure, but I think that a subscription model could potentially be way more lucrative for them than the overpriced system they have now. And again, I specifically mentioned keeping the current system in place for people who won't get enough value from a subscription service.

      • Basically, what the thread title says. I don't mind paying to read, however, this Spirit Stone business is tedious and chapters cost way too many of them for me to be worth it. I (and probably many others) would much rather pay pay a set amount of money per month (say 25$) and access everything on the site. Keep the old Spirit Stone-system for people who only want to read one or two of their favourite novels.

If things continue in this manner; I will most likely start to drastically cut back on the amount of novels I read because the costs/benefits are not worth it to me and I don't think I'm the only one. For the people who want to read more than a few novels, a subscription model would be way more attractive than the system that is currently in place.

So, what do you guys think?
