Whenever I click publish and it sends a confirmation email to my Gmail account, I cannot find the email that contains the validation code.

I_liek_rainbowsss has you make sure that you are opening the right account? They will send the code to the account you use to login, not the one you wrote in the profile section. Unless youwrite the same one.
Or, maybe you just open it in the wrong section in the gmail? Has you refresh it and look at the inbox?
