Whats the point in the translators that are being paid from our patronage to be having creative liberties by changing the books that they are translating. If I wanted to rewstheir work then I would. I want the orginal work that was not in my native toung. Is it to get around copy right law and royalties?

Noah_w123 i think is more about the difficulties around translating works. Sometimed some words and their meaning will have different meaning from original to translation. But then again I wouldnt be suprised if some translaters took some creative rights and changed some stuff to avoid paying for royalties.

I heard recently that the reason many translators are coming up with western names instead of the original is because there were a bunch of new users added recently who had trouble with the PinYin. If that's the case and everyone else has to suffer because of newbies being too lazy to learn... sigh

As soon as I see Western names in a synopsis, I'm out. As for other words being changed.. I really don't know what they're thinking. Are they just incompetent and fill in the blanks of what they have trouble with, take liberties and want to make it more suitable in areas to fit their tastes, or what? I used to think MTL was horrible, but I've come around in light of the changing times

"As soon I see Western names ina synopsis, I'm out."

I thought it was just me. Them doing that just takes away from whole experience. If I want to read about Becky, Susan, and Aurora I'll go to FoxNovel or something.

Don't change the names of people, places, or things.

If someone wants to know how to pronouce something, that's what Google Translate is for

Oh and let me just say. I've been bamboozled!! I was looking at the Pilot Read for My Top Actor Husband's Identity Was Exposed. The Synopsis all of the names were of Chinese origin. Go to the first chapters and all of a sudden everyone has a western name.

Trying to trick readers? I can't even tell if the synopsis matches the actual book. Disgusting.

Seli I have the same freaking problem. They are doing it with novels and comics and it's honestly ruining any and all reading experience. Who the heck goes into an Eastern Power Fantasy expecting Tom, Dick, and Harry as the character names? We want Xiao, Yan, Feng, Ling, and Kong — that's what we are here to read. Screw this shit they do because of the newbs.

First, they changed Spirit Stones to the currency of the dumb, Coins. And now they went ahead and fucked over the names of the characters, too! The newbs are utter trash! You don't even need freaking Google Translate for the pronounciation. Just pronounce them however they make sense in your head.

Qi is pronounced Chi but I have always read it as Ki in my head. Same for Qing which I read as King. And all the other names. As long as you have basic English skills and now what sounds the alphabets make, you are good to go. They are killing the spirit of the novels by trying to appease the insufferably dumb.

YulongYuXianTaiyin Just f*ck these users off from here. It's quite a novel experience to read about some whiter than white Tom kowtowing, Dick having a thick face and Harry having a typical Asian issues with parents.
The real reason (my guess) is to hide the source of the new novels (many of trial novels come from Faloo, not Qidian) and to make it harder to find Chinese version of the novel.

MainGod btw, Qi is not Ki or Chi, it's more like Tsi. And every R you meet sounds more like soft zh. And it makes me funny when I try to say some non Chinese names like "Renan Barao" 😂
It's actually quite easy to catch Chinese pronunciation (even without tones), there are many tutorials. If you'll ever visit Chinese-speaking country it will help you a lot

Dwarkin fuckers went ahead and removed the section in the App that used to have raw names for novels and comics, and now they use non-official names for the translated stuff and comics so you can't run it through Google Translate to get a match. I wonder which bastard thought that would be nice to do.
