One way is to write an outline of the novel, where you want the novel to end start, add villains, other unique aspects, use your imagination which is your most powerful tool in creating a novel.
Feel like your grammar isn't on par with other novels, take an English course though this may seem like a waste of time this will actually improve your knowledge within grammar and other aspects.
steffu how about writing short story first? Maybe 20-30 chapters for starting.

It might help reading something like this before starting to actually write if you're completely stuck on how to approach writing. There are a lot of other websites with tips for authors, too. Maybe you could check out some of these.
IMO just starting to write something that you yourself think is interesting and that you would want to read is a good idea, too. Sometimes, it's better to do that offline, though, because you might get some nasty reviews and comments at the beginning.

steffu Write a few short stories. Then, when you feel ready, write a real novel. Do an outline and stockpile a little before actually publishing. Also, make sure to read books because that will help develop your writing style and eliminate some grammar issues.
gonna sound a bit corny here so bare with me, but here's my advice:

Yes having structure is good but sometimes fussing too much about the details and how it'll go might prevent you from starting. So just start. If you have an inkling of what you want to write then just go ahead and write. See where it takes you. You don't even need to have the beginning or middle or end. Sometimes even just an image would be good enough to start. Then once that's done. Fine tune it. Reread and change it. It's okay if you scrap entire paragraph's or chapters worth. Or hell, rewrite the entire novel. See what you like and cut whatever else you don't.
So just go ahead and write idea in your head. Take your time and just see where it takes you.

Think of who you wished to be in a fictional way and work yourself to it.
You may develop cramped wrist and calloused thumbs and forefinger if you happen to hold your phone to write novels.

You have to start writing. This sounds obvious, but it may be the most overlooked step in the process. You write a book by deciding first what you’re going to write and how you’re going to write it. Once you start writing, you will face self-doubt, overwhelming feelings and a hundred other adversaries. Planning ahead for those obstacles ensures you won’t quit when they come.
Before I go any further; I must confess I am not a professional. I solely write because I find it relaxing, hence I do not have the aspirations to do grand things. The following is merely based on a handful of tips and is in no way a professional or perfect guideline.
Write the argument of your book in a sentence, then stretch that out to a paragraph, and then to a one-page outline. After that, write a table of contents to help guide you as you write, then break each chapter into a few sections. Think of your book in terms of beginning, middle, and end. Anything more complicated might get you lost.
You don’t need to write a lot. You just need to write often. I personally don’t do this, but setting a daily goal will give you something to aim for. Make it small and attainable so that you can hit your goal each day and start building momentum.
Have a few trusted advisers to help you discern what’s worth writing. These can be friends, editors, family. Just try to find someone who will give you honest feedback early on to make sure you’re headed in the right direction.
As you approach the end, know that you will most certainly mess up. Just be okay with failing, and give yourself grace. That’s what will sustain you — the determination to continue, not some elusive standards of perfection.
Keep in mind that the first book will be horrible. The second as well. So will the third. The ones after might be better. Might.
People who tell you that they only wrote good work, and never wrote any bad work; don’t believe them. They are still writing bad work, and only those embarrassed by earlier work, have progressed.
Without that first book, you will never learn the lessons you might otherwise miss out on. So, put your work out there, fail early, and try again. This is the only way you get better. You have to practice, which means you have to keep writing.

I'm writing my first novel. English is my second language. First, I write a draft in Quip, random thoughts about what the chapter is about. Then, I'll add details. This is when I rely on my research skills. TBH, I cannot write offline coz I need to Google words and their synonyms, maps, clothes, history, etc... I'm Google-ing while writing. Then I copy-paste to Grammarly, free version, to proofread. I'll do one more check in Hemingway app to look for long sentences and adverbs. One final reading in Grammarly and I can post in Inkstone, that's where you publish chapters in Webnovel.
It's not easy. But I don't want my story idea to remain an idea. A story idea is akin to daydreaming. If you fail to write it down, no one will know what your story is. It took me a long time to publish chapters. But I noticed that daily writing helps a lot. Google-ing while writing can be a distraction. Oh, the tabs opened... My laptop would heat up. But it's worth it coz I'm learning. Writing is a self-discovery and a learning process.

What do you want to write, and what do you feel is missing in what you've already tried writing?
If you're trying to write and your characters feel flat, try making them more relatable, give them more wants and goals. Doing a character sheet can help with that sometimes, especially in the beginning when you're not sure how to go about it. Likes/dislikes, strengths/weaknesses- even just knowing their favorite kind of food or drink can help you develop them as a person better, even if you never end up putting that particular trait into the story. (Consider, for example, two different people and your impression when I tell you that one loves hot chocolate, the other prefers scotch. You probably see the first as someone softer, more prone to comfortable things; the second one you probably see as more 'severe' or serious, business-like, even though all I've told you is their favorite drink.)
If you can't figure out what to do with your characters even writing out that little template (and, include anything you want in it, really), go out people-watching. Take something to write on and write your impressions of people you see around you, or little short stories about their lives based only on what you can see of them. Don't just stick to 'the lady with the baby is a soccer mom waiting for her kid to get out of the toy store', be creative with it. Get weird with it, keeping with the traits you can see.

When creating a novel, more important than anything is the creation of good characters. If the characters are good, then the writing will be interesting even without a great plot. If the characters are bad, then even with the best plot in the world, it will be nothing more than mediocre.
