  • This place is getting more and more ridiculous, most people just recommend their own (just started) novel. 95% of all readers simply don't care about novels with less than 50 chapters released. When it's under 10 chapters, it's even worse...

By reading super short just started novels, you just ruin potentially good premises for you.

  • Not every review needs to include constructive critic! After all, there is only one author, but many readers.... Which means a review is to 99.9% for other (potential) readers... Basically to help them decide, if the novel is worth investing their time in.

If it was all about 'constructive critic', the author can simply delete the review after reading it. After all he has already read your critic. It wouldn't have any value left for him/her.

So a good review is something inbetween. The (potential) readers should find enough informations about the novel and your reasons for liking/disliking parts of it, while the author should be able to get some value out of reading your review for the same reasons.

Reviews exist to help other people to decide, if they should consume your product. Get it?

Why is everybody fine with spammy fake 5 star reviews, but feels offended by 2 star reviews that actually say something!? Remember, 2 of 5 is the same as 4 of 10... (simple math...)... 4 of 10 is 'slightly worse than average'... (let's forget that you basically start with 2 of 10 as condolence stars for effort)

This forum is full of review swap threads... Some do serious reviews, but in reality it's just "you give me a positive fake reviews and I'll give you one". I've seen one side give a 4 star review that was looking rather professional, and the other side gave 4 stars with a few neutral 'encouraging words' back with 0 chapters read.... etc..

Reviews are for reader! Not for authors! It's called REVIEWS and not feedback.

Authors somehow think the world revolves around them. lol

I'd never trust a review better than 4.5 stars. Bad reviews are way better to help me to decide if I want to read something, than your average "NICE NOVEL!, EXP, pls release more chapters, pls release more chapters, the best since sliced bread"-fake account spam.

    • There are no underrated novels, because most bad reviews get deleted. You'd have better luck searching for 'less overrated' novels.

    • Another round of negative reviews got deleted.

I wonder if it's a big or they already have an automatic system for this, or if they delete them manually... At least all those double/triple/quadre/penta/...-five-star-reviews don't get deleted.

I didn't save my long-ass-serious review, so as a temporary solution I can only make a simple 1* review.

Wouldn't it be sad if at some point WN pisses off somebody with enough time to create fake accounts and 1star reviews at the same scale people make fake 5stars reviews?

      Please fix the "bug"!

      • Many novels have dozens to hundreds of reviews of the same people to push the rating. Just look at stuff like Reverend Insanity (sort by newest). At least the last 5 pages are (positive) fake reviews by the same few accounts. And the person who did it doesn't even try to hide it.

        • The thread title should be: "Anybody NOT in need of a proofreader/editor?"
(This post would probably better if I had a proofreader/editor...)

          • I only read the first few (semi-good) translated chapters, but it looks like a lot of fun.... And no matter what people say, [SYSTEM], novels are very popular.

            https://www.novelupdates.com/series/god-level-demon/

Passerby 1: “Xia Ping!!!! You robbed my martial arts, snatched my immortality and even took my fiancee bastard, you and I aren’t over.”

Passerby 2: ”He’s martial arts scum.”

Passerby 3: “Demon! Ugh, even childrens’ lollipop weren’t spared. ”

Martial artists of Yan Huang couldn’t help but dream about breaking Xia Ping bones into a million pieces and drink his blood.

Xia Ping stroking his chin: ”System with so many hate points, which holy immortal or peerless martial arts, or heavenly artifacts should I choose.”

            • Well, if you are spending most of your money on novels, you aren't really over your addiction... Just to poor to consume (binge) as much as you'd like.

They say the first few shots of heroine are free. But they don't make you pay to stop your addiction, they make you pay to reap the benefits from your addiction.

              • True_Seeker I am pretty sure most of your readers (which aren't multi-accounts) read it for (expected) smut/erotic in combination with an OP MC in a xianxia world....

And many readers will call you out for not being able to formulate simple sentences.

                • UnjustlyUnderpaid Stuff like this makes the ratings here so extremely untrustworthy. But hell breaks lose if somebody makes a bad review "because he doesn't like the story".

                  • Flow. There are many stories with nice ideas, but they simply don't "flow". The grammar could be awkward, too many details, too little details or some events keep repeating themself... or even worse the author goes out of his way to make stuff never happen twice, even if it would make sense...

It's pretty hard to balance all of the components, which make a story good.

If the story and sentences flow good, you feel like time is running way too fast...

                  • FleetingClouds "You've watched "Three BBC ravage 18yo chinese Kyoko" three times today. Your social credit score has been reduced by 12. Please avoid interracial and anti-chinese propaganda."

Edit: And "Your friend "X1234" has watched "Three BBC ravage 18yo chinese Kyoko" three times today. Your social credit score has been reduced by 4. Please avoid having contact with dishonest and anti-chinese people."

                  • N0xiety Upvoting your post means losing a few points of social credit! Be careful people, it's a trap!

                    • Blabla, shameless here, shameless there, blabla... I miss the good old times, where "shameless" meant that the MC did something hilarious/badass which most people wouldn't do because of fear for embaressment.

But now this word is used for every cringy advertisement and begging thread. And now this. I never thought I will ever say this, but I believe this "community" finally needs some shame.

Calling yourself shameless shouldn't mean you can do all the things you should feel shame and embaressment about. It's not an badge of honor in real life. (except while snu snu obviously)

Edit: Sorry for my little rant, I love your positive vibe!

                      • ktoffl Oh, I thought you meant the "average hater" on this site, instead of "those specific haters".

                      • ktoffl Or they are mid-20s who have already read the same kind of setting in 20 variants and simply can't be bothered to put up with the 21st.
