I was shocked when I noticed a novel copied from fanfic with different author. His other posted is also stolen and renamed. This has made me want to check all fanfic I read from this site.

You want to know what really hit me? The real author asking the fake to remove it. Want to know what the fake said?

Wtf... dude you clearly stealing someone work. And the whole “will continue it” is crazy. Be original View More

West That's really sad... The original fanfic was published in 2009... Even worse, he spammed 5 star reviews for himself just so he could hide what he stole.

In his synopsis, he wrote that this story will be a continuation of the original, which is really not since I spent some time comparing the current chapters.

He didn't even bother giving the original author due proper credit. Like... who was Xchi? Where can I find the original? Why do you give your novel/fanfic a lot of 5 star spams?

West Also, his other novel/fanfic doesn't even belong to him.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Found another copy right infringement in an original book called The Legend of Dragon Ball it copying another translator work

I don't know if I should continue telling the guy to put in proper credits to where it's due, or to simply report him lol

As a reader, I'd like to know if it was truly your original work. If the first sentence I googled got me somewhere else, not webnovel or qidian, then you got major problems.

            Poche
This is not necessarily true, I have about 40 written chapters, but because of factors such as: Lack of trust, I am not a native English speaker I have to translate and revise my chapters (and even then they are full of mistakes), I'm also always trying to improve the story, when I think it's good enough I'll start publishing here.
But that everything happens well, I think it is necessary to have extra chapters, once there is an unforeseen and I can not write, are traveling or have a creative block. It's also a way to reward readers at times by releasing extra chapters.
I hope to be able to offer (future) readers of my novel at least one chapter a day, if possible maybe 10 a week. So I'm going to write something consistent first and leave several chapters in stock.
Maybe it goes wrong and I need to change the plot a bit according to the taste of my (future) public.

JaeRawrs Well, that doesn't have to mean the work is stolen, though. I, for example, also post my stories on wattpad and I've seen a few other authors there who also post on both sites. So, unfortunately, as a reader, you can never be sure if something is stolen or not

And in that case I'd just report the guy. Though, webnovel can only take the story down if the original author files a DMCA claim against it

tbh isnt it funny that webnovel is talking about stealing content considering they copy pasted wuxiaworld chapters that other people translated?

derangedlol Technically both Qidian and wuxiaworld have some sort of agreements, disclosed or not, I wouldn't call it "stealing" exactly....

Now, take this into picture... Some guy who is not related to any of the parties involved (qidian, wuxiaworld, author, translators, etc) decided to post it here or somewhere, without credits or permission (or anything required) is just plain wrong...

The audacity of this post. Am I the only one who remembers how qidian stole all of wuxiaworlds novels?

Daoist_N Don't they have a contract and there is a grey area in the wording of the contract for those which is under review right now with a court, an undecided up to this point?
If it is still under review, then you can't really say that it is stealing when there is no verdict yet.
No matter what you may think, we don't know about the contract. If a grey area, subject to multiple interpretations exist, then there is something that needs to be discussed about it. But to claim it is automatically stealing is not correct. Let the courts decide before you make judgement, because it is a signed agreement between both parties.

Well, this is not a world where everyone living in harmony, it's like a world of cultivation, where the strongest rules 😂
                      Homo homini lupus 😥

SweetsTomato I don't understand what they're saying about karma. It's not like people are stealing back from webnovel to get even. The one who got stolen from are authors from other site. Webnovel being cooperative to the authors who are the real victims is expected, but why are they making it sound like webnovel is in the wrong?
