Am i stupid or is there a conspiracy going on? 1 free chapter a day, that means if a novel has 3 chapters a day, 1 of them should be free. No matter how far ahead i have progress in reading. And this is easy to implement as well. Isnt this the concept?
When does reading premiums too far ahead suddenly become, oh you read too far, no free chapter for you until you catch up on the free?
This is a very easy concept to understand, i dont understand why nobody gets it?
Let me explain how fucked we free reads are.
there is 7 chapters peer week. Lets say the week start at sunday and end at saturday.
On Sunday we will have one premium chapter and zero free chapters.
On Monday we wil have one premium chapter and one free chapters.
On Tuesday we will have one premium chapter and two free chapters.
On Wendnesday we will have one premium chapter and three free chapters.
On Thursday we will have one premium chapter and four free chapters.
On Friday we will have one premium chapter and five free chapters.
On Saturday we will have one premium chapter and six free chapters.
It is simple and look nice to us, isn't? But it just look like that, the true it is fucked.
The same exemple as before, but it 14 chapters a week.
On Sunday we will have two premium chapters and zero free chapter.
On Monday we will have three premium chapters and one free chapter.
On Tuesday we will have fou premium chapters and two free chapters.
On Wednesday we will have five premium chapters and three free chapters.
On Thursday we will have six premium chapters and four free chapters.
On Friday we will have seven premium chapters and five free chapters.
On Saturday we will have eight premium chapters and six free chapters.
As you can see, the number of premium chapter start rising. Keep doing and in a month or two you have 100 or more premium chapters ahead of the free chapters. Hell, this get even worst when the translator do a mass release.
And the top of the cake;
Let start at the end of the last example; On Saturday, eigth premium chapters and six free chapters.
Let say that I have a number of Spirit Stone to buy exactly eigth premium chapters.
The thing will turn this way for me who spend SS to unlock premium chapters;
On Sunday, 2 chapters premium, 0 chapter free.
On Monday, 4 chapters premium, 0 chapter free.
On Tuesday, 6 chapters premium, 0 chapter free.
On Wednesday, 8 chapters premium, 0 chapter free.
On Thursday, 10 chapters premium, 0 chapter free.
On Friday, 12 chapters premium, 0 chapters free.
On Saturday, 14 chapters premium, 0 chapters free.
Looks greats, isn't?
CKtalon Patreon didn't halve their release rate and call it "Premium".. they were actually "Advanced" chapters.
DaoistFedUp And neither does it charge as much as Patreon. There are of course similarities and differences.

CKtalon And neither does it charge as much as Patreon. There are of course similarities and differences.
DaoistFedUp It's not worth arguing here. CKTalon just says whatever Qidian wants him too. He is a very loyal party soldier.
Even to the point of encouraging unknown writers to sign away their copyright ownership to Webnovel. He is also trying to entice naive/innocent writers to sign away their copyright ownership with some vague promises of possible adaptations of their novels— which of course they won't own :(
As far as the patreon/premium discussion was concerned. They are two wholly different systems.
Patreon - Allows affluent & excited readers to support authors & translators to read advanced chapters. Advanced chapters. If a person subscribes to patreon they stay X chapters ahead for the month(s) they pay for it. It was supported by the generosity of a few thousand people.
A partial benefit was the patron helping the masses by providing a method that rewarded the author/translator without forcing the cost onto the masses.
Premium - Shifts the costs to the masses by charging to unlock every premium chapter to everyone. Is it cheaper? Absolutely, for the wealthy patron who is no longer funding a patreon to support the TL/Author. For the rest of the masses, it is prohibitively expensive since it pushes the costs on to them.
For authors/translators, it also means fewer readers since the cost forces people to be more selective in what they are reading.
One example: Alchemy Emperor of the Divine Dao will cost premium readers 39,762 SS = $611.60 (3250SS per $49.99) to read up to Ch 4621—in 7.73 years (the novel is still ongoing in China) with premium.
Another: Immortal Mortal 385 Premium chapters (when completed in 4 days) Chapters Premium 4668 SS = a minimum of $71.80. Of course, that's only if unlocked when it was completed. If the reader unlocked every chapter add another 1344 SS ($20.67) so roughly $92 over the 4 months it has been premium.
The reader could also wait 13 months to read the Immortal Mortal next year.
Alchemy Emperor will take a little longer. It will take 12.7 years for the novel to become 'free' to read up to Ch 4621.
It's also worth pointing out that 'Premium' doesn't mean quality to Webnovel. Many of the 'premium' chapters are riddled with spelling and grammar errors.
I would rather have a monthly sub at the cost of lets say Netflix/Hulu and get access to all "premium" chapters. The current method is trash :zero: .
Actually, I do like the current system with the premium chapters. If there was a monthly fee instead, I'd probably stop reading here
yansusustories explain why
Im sure you can't
No one would ever be this stupid to chose to pay for especific chapters with no fixed value rather than pay a monthly fee and read all shit you can.
Cytric Of course, I can. It's quite easy, actually, and has nothing to do with stupidity: My monthly income varies greatly so something with a fixed monthly rate is something I'd always try to avoid. With the premium chapter system we have now I can decide if, when and how much I want to spend for reading. For me in my current situation that is the best possible scenario I could get so I definitely wouldn't want to change it.
And before anyone says "Yeah, but you do have to pay to keep up": I don't have to keep up with the newest releases. I'm perfectly content with keeping up to date with one or two novels through the free spirit stones I get and waiting it out on other novels or reading a bit ahead of the free chapters if the mood strikes me
yansusustories reasonable.
Cytric Yep. The problem with webnovel is that there are just so many different kinds of readers. For those who read a lot and especially the novels that cost like 10-12 spirit stones per chapter a monthly fee would of course be better. But for those just reading a bit here and there and mostly the novels who only cost like 3-4 spirit stones it's alright and even the free spirit stones might be enough. They would need - at least - two payment models to make everyone happy
Maybe a buy out option would work. Like say paying $50 for super gene and getting all future chapters. Considering how long some of these novels are i think that would be pretty fair.
roseme Use more than one account. No more SS in account #1 then use account #2 while you accumulate more SS in account #1.
As a free reader I don't have an issue with premium as of now. Not only do I use the app. I also have stories on other apps and sites I read on. When I don't have enough stones I just read something else thats free. By the time I came back to back some stories on this app a ton a premium become free. There are also stories that go on hiatus. I stop read them for a while by the time come back there are 10+ free chapters. By the way the freebie chapters are on a schedule from the time the story become premium. So those of you using stones on premium chapters will have to wait a bit for freebies because you are ahead of the freebie schedule.
