yu_ba_bu_neng I wouldn't be surprised about buggy logs. The whole reports about missing SS, inactive subscription, relocked chapters after unlocking with SS etc, is proof, that their IT-backend is utter crap. I'm using the android app since it was released and I dunno how they could roll out some of the previous buggy releases. UI releases are no problem, but as soon as real or virtual currency is involved they should really care. A european company would get their asses whipped for missing records.

MasterRabbink yes, Android versions are different. Tablet 5.1.1, Smartphone 8.0.0. Both webnovel apps have been reinstalled now, so there shouldn't be a version mismatch.
Would be interesting to hear from other ppl with same issue, whether they are using this app with a tablet, since some apps have a special tablet mode, because of the bigger screen size.Got an android tablet and smartphone. App is totally fine on smartphone, but the tablet version looks totally different with huuuge pics and genre buttons, different category order (recommended, originals etc) and missing forum/vote buttons
[unknown] Third parties are not to interject with others signing a contract, but it's still the customers' decision whether they support a company handing out such contracts to its authors. Not all, but some customers wanna know where their product is from, what the conditions for their production are etc( just have a look at the number of ecoseals on food products)

dunno why I keep reading TGIF posts, when there are always mass releases for the same novels...
Misguided_Rooster If everyone just accepts it and keeps quiet, like you want other ppl to do, nothing will change. And that's why Webnovel doesn't respond. They hope that we'll just shut up after a few days and everything will be fine, but as long as we keep complaining, we hurt their image. New readers will know about Webnovel's practices because we keep repeating it. Maybe then, we'll really see changes for the better. Not because you gave up, but because others kept bringing it up again and again. If you wanna be ignorant, then do so, but don't stop other ppl from voicing their opinions in hope of changes for the better.
PS: there will always be insults in the www, where ppl have different opinions. It's not specific to this topicMisguided_Rooster I don't know where you live and I don't wanna know, but does anything get better by just accepting the current state? No!

Why don't the TLs of FMHM & castle of black iron just increase their release rate? Nearly every single week these 2 novels are listed in TGIF for mass release.
facecake98 well, this is what happens when you sneakily remove the free chapters paragraph without checking the rest of the article

MasterRabbink I don't know the cut, but it's not a secret that free samples, trials, demo versions and free ingame currency are incentives to buy their product. If it wouldn't work, companies wouldn't do it. And ~1/3 of those "free" SS are being paid by watching ads anyway. Hearing ppl talk, as if free SS is a welfare project for the poor ppl and the staff/authors/TLs have to pay for it is just ridiculous. Like you said, even the really free chapters of the free premium event or ad blocked chapters of the pre premium system weren't a welfare project, but to rapidly increase the reader base and turn them into paying customers later.

She must be a cliffhanger god. I don't read her novels, but when I see that 90% of the ppl in TGIF thread are asking for a mass release for FMHM every single week, then they must really crave for it. FMHM is with castle of black iron and strongest system probably the novel with most mass releases in TGIFs.

CKtalon I doubt it. Most ppl who didn't buy SS after Webnovel removed the free chapters, won't buy SS even if you removed free SS completely. The major part will just move on to the next pirate site if they didn't already do so.
Free SS keep the free readers here, who might possibly turn into paying readers. Maybe it cuts into earnings from buyers, since they buy SS anyway and the free SS reduces the purchase frequency, but the possibility of a free reader, turning into a paying reader & the additional revenue from ads for free SS is worth way more.- In OEM
Misguided_Rooster I wouldn't even mind an adwall, where you can read as much as you want, but have to watch ads for it, but this is a paywall...

MasterRabbink I wouldn't really mind watching a 1min ad for reading a chapter for 5-15min.
And I think you are underestimating ad revenue. Mobile ads have increased drastically in popularity in the last 5 years. Whereas you got maybe 1$ eCPM (cost per 1000 viewers) for reward ads in 2013, you can get 15$ now. It's now even more attractive to most developers than selling the app in the play store or instead of ads, implementing an ingame shop. That's why you'll very often see ads, despite the app already having an ingame shop.
There are a lot of different factors which determine the eCPM , like the length, is it skippable, has it completed, android/ios, which country, which ad platform/offerer, time of year and so on... The eCPM for reward videos, which you have to completely watch, can range from anywhere between 2$ to 20$ depending on those factors. Especially in 1st world countries they are rewarding, ranging from 10-17$ in average.Reward videos, like here, are one of the most profitable ads. I don't know exactly how much a chapter costs for Webnovel, but if you estimate e.g. 40$, then it would be totally possible to get it back with maybe 3000-5000 views. Hard to say exactly, since the community is spread over the whole globe. So it's totally possible, that you'll make a profit with new chapters in the first day and let's not forget the long term revenue for new readers picking up old novels. Additionally Webnovel will probably publish re-edited versions after they are traslated completely.
MasterRabbink official status? Has there been a statement by Webnovel?
The old premium system wasn't bad. Just some minor changes and imo they could've made much more money and customers would still be satisfied.
1. lower SS prices
2. change free daily chapter to ad blocked chapters (number of ads depending on chapter size, maybe 1-3)
3. change premium chapters to advanced chapter like it was via patreon, so premium readers won't be hundreds of chapters ahead of ad watchersI just cannot believe that ads are so bad if you get the right numbers, otherwise there wouldn't be so many youtubers. Currently most ppl use free SS and they don't earn anything for free SS usage, except for watching the one ad for free SS. Most novels get hundreds of comments per chapter in a few hours after release, so there are lots of readers and potential ad watchers.

bjbarclay2 the FAQ was written by community members, not webnovel. Have a look at 'the book of answers' in the library, written by webnovel. Initially there was a paragraph about free daily chapters for premium novels, but it somehow magically vanished when they stopped releasing the free chapters.
