Hey, I’ve been working on this world and story for over a year now, and while it was fun to work on and write I found it hard to continue as there was no motivation other than the characters and story. My story revolves around an older man suffering from dementia, I find it difficult to find novels that deal with similar subject matter in a way I find appealing and which I can gain insight from. I am quite younger than my protagonist (more than a handful of decades) and was just hoping some writers could give me advice on how to write an older protagonist.

Hey, I'm writing an ongoing near future, distopian magical realism story about an old man with dementia slowly going through his past as he struggles to survive in the present. The story switches between three main groups but focuses primarily on William (the old man). I have about 50 pages written but plan on slowly releasing them as I edit them down.
