Thank you for addressing what I said to the extent that you felt comfortable with and not the entire reply I gave you. I noticed you didn't address a few key points. I hope you do spend some time to answer those crucial elements.

I'm sorry but did you read and understand what I said previously? Because, frankly, some of your replies have misunderstood and strayed far from anything I said.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL In your Patreon, there were many advanced chapters available for purchase. The chapters on Webnovel.com (who owns the rights on both original titles and translations) remained far behind. If those chapters could not be defined as "advanced chapters", what else are?

KurazyTolanzuraytor Yes, we were told it was temporary until advanced chapters were brought in-house, but can you honestly call a cut of release rate advanced chapters

I was talking about how advanced became premium with a lower release, and it's pretty clear in that line.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Based on the agreement that we signed, you agreed with what we offered at that time, right? It means you accepted that offer; and there was no coercion at all. In that case, whatever we offered to others, it doesn't really matter with your deal. You agreed to a flat rate and later, you are complaining about it one year later. That is what is unprofessional.

When did I ever complain one year later in my post? I simply said it's not worth my time any longer. Do you understand what the word complain means? Complaining would be something along the lines of saying "They're too cheap and aren't paying me enough." All my post said was that I was unhappy and didn't value the pay any longer, so i sought my own way out.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL My concern is that you should inform us earlier, at least earlier than 1 day. It doesn't really matter with how many chapters you have in stock because all the chapters in stock have been paid. There is nothing about stockpiles in our agreement, am I right? The clause requires translators to provide 30 days notice. If you really wished to end well, you could have easily let us know in advance, and post a decent announcement to all readers, but not something in this thread.

My announcement was factual and spoke nothing that was in any way harmful to QI. I simply stated my reasons for wanting to move on.
Besides that, I've said that I've dropped it, but that doesn't mean I can't do those 20 chapters if you want me to. It's just an announcement that formally notifies everyone of my departure.
All you had to do was say, "The stockpile isn't enough, please do the 20 chapters as agreed upon before leaving."
By the way, if you want, I can still do it now. Feel free to let me know if you require any further chapters as per the contract, I promise the quality will be as usual because I take my work and reputation seriously.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Now, let's talk about the "good will". If tens of thousands of dollars that you earned (remember we didn't get even a cent of it, while still paying a flat rate for each of those chapters at the same time) over the past year could not be called "good will", then what is?

If you doubted our goodwill, why didn't you refuse our deal prior to us taking down all advanced chapters on Patreon after the in-house system was set up?

In my opinion, goodwill is something done without any extra motives. But, you're right, I did receive a good sum of money which I've never denied. All I was saying is, don't paint yourself to be kind and pitiful while throwing mud all over me when you had something to gain from it.

      Ask and you shall receive.

I'm not going to talk about that professionalism stuff about those replies since we obviously have different views to the matter.

Thirdly, all the details were laid out in your initial agreement, nothing was hidden or violated from our side. In addition, the advanced chapters (Patreon) were bonus money for all translators who work for QI until the particular work joins the Premium program. This is not a new rule that you were never informed initially. All QI TLs know this rule clearly from the very beginning. Don't forget that you agreed to that initially.
Last but not least, don't forget we did not get a single cent from "your advanced chapters" from Patreon until we released Premium and enforced not having advanced chapters on another platform. You had received almost a year's worth of bonus money, which you shared nothing with either of us - the copyrght owner, or the author. Premium is the system that allows authors, translators and us to benefit together.

I joined both the Patreon comments to make it easy to reply to.
Yes, we were told it was temporary until advanced chapters were brought in-house, but can you honestly call a cut of release rate advanced chapters
Now lets talk about the circumstances of this goodwill.
      - At that time, most good TLs were asking for a raise because we found out trash TLs like Noodletown were being paid more than us for trash.
      - Instead of giving us a pay rise, Patreon was given instead. Now, please don't tell me that was goodwill and not a method to move risk to TLs while reaping other benefits and not increasing your budget.
      What benefits?
      - Motivation to TLs to translate more, carry out events, and make their own novels successful.
      - Increase in speed and quality because TLs had a source of income that depended on their speed and quality, and this directly contributed to making the site more successful while creating the fanbase of those novels which you can use later on with the current premium system.

Fourthly, translators need money, and looking for better offers is 100% okay and understandable. You are always free to quit. However, in a professional setting, I believe you should have informed us earlier, like 7 days in advance. Oh, if you check the contract, you will see a clause that requires the translator to provide 30 days notice if the translator decides to quit, and you initially agreed to this too. Unfortunately, in your case, you did not even give us an entire day to prepare. I would say this is rather unprofessional. Despite such acts, we still wished you good luck in our personal chats, right? None of us blamed you or said anything nasty. I'm really disappointed in what you posted in this thread.

I honestly don't see anything that threw as much mud on you as your post did to me.
Besides that, i left you with almost 50 chapters which can almost cover a month, and I asked Yuren if he needed anything from me, meaning I would have been happy to do a further 20 chapters to get it over the month.
You're also ignoring the fact I've done 880 chapters in a single year which by the contract's minimum equals to doing over 3.5 years of work. So, i believe my notice is adequate, but you're welcome to have a differing opinion.

Unfortunately you did not have the patience to wait another few more weeks. We can't comment about authors who work for other platforms, but we—Webnovel or Qidian—won't do such things to any of our authors. We will directly split the revenues equally among authors, translators and us. We admit that we need profits but we would not hurt our translators or authors. We don't believe that making a fool of authors or translators would work in the long run.
According to what you and CK have said previously, I have to wait another 2-3 months. :)
      Let's break this down further.
SS was launched in February. Meaning you would have started coding it a few months before hand.
Another 2-3 months from now would be June or July.
So, you knew you were doing this way ahead but failed to implement a simple system to track the usage of SS and make a contract for over half a year?
If lawyers and web devs took half a year to do such simple things, they would be out of business by now.
I don't see how any of this supports and I quote "We can't comment about authors who work for other platforms, but we—Webnovel or Qidian—won't do such things to any of our authors. We will directly split the revenues equally among authors, translators and us. We admit that we need profits but we would not hurt our translators or authors. We don't believe that making a fool of authors or translators would work in the long run."

Except the girl doesn't care. :)
I didn't want to release this, but here's a timeline of what happened today.

I told Yuren(The Boss of Webnovel) that I wanted to quit at 4.09p.m. GMT+8
Sunny came and sent me a message instead at 4.28
I didn't like how unprofessionally he was handling this by sending Sunny instead of talking to me directly, so I decided to just go ahead with my post at 4.30
EFT's boss aka DAN told me he got the novel at 5pm
Yuren comes asking what happened n if i need help at 6.20
Then says oh I saw your post at 6.48

Also, I pretty much admitted that I'm not happy with the pay now because it's not worth my copyright. Which also implies I was fine with it while I was able to post on Patreon.

SS doesn't pay a cent to any TL because there is no premium contract to convert to right now.

Yes, I always liked WW, and I was lazy. I'm a gamer, I had to compare between giving up hours of gaming time vs something that might not work out, so yes I didn't bother to try.

Honestly, the main reason I even decided and had the feeling that I should approach WW was because I didn't feel Qidian would be able to run through the thousands and millions it does for all the novels for long. Frankly, it wasn't earning anything while spending a ton to build itself up. I felt their extremely high expenditure on things like very bad mtl-ish translations and people like CK would sooner or later cause their venture to be unprofitable. I secured a backup plan which turned out to be a wise decision.

Final note, yes I'm trying to end it well which is why I gave up the glossary which benefits both QI and all the readers.

        • Dear Readers,

This was a decision I’ve thought long and hard over and I’ve decided to drop WSSTH(War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens) and quit Qidian. I don’t see eye to eye with the SS payout system, and it’s no longer something that’s worth my time because I won’t be able to retain the rights to my work.

‘But you’ve signed a contract and should have been prepared lose the copyright in exchange for your efforts and the flat pay!’

That’s true, but I have a story to tell about why and how I’ve come to my decision even though a contract was signed.

Come with me on a dive down Memory Lane.

Sometime in February 2017, I was just a fresh graduate who’d been unemployed for over a year due to my visa status. I’d always wanted to translate but never had the patience, especially if I had to start from forums while hoping to be recognized. (We all know which forums I’m talking about :/) Then one fine day, I found webnovel.com, a website which would recruit people like me – people with no experience - for a steady wage. I grabbed the opportunity and from that day onwards, translating became my full-time job.

Fast-forward a few months, after many chapters (which I feel are quite shitty when I look back at them now), I was getting better and an opportunity presented itself, allowing me to apply directly to WW. It was also around this time that I started to value my work more than the fixed pay.

After much discussion with Ren, I was accepted into WW and joined WW’s discord server as a Sectmaster. Alas, the heavens played a cruel trick on me for that night on the very day I was officially accepted by WW, Qidian sent a heavenly tribulation(DMCA) to WW, or as everyone remembers it, the day the war broke out.

I watched and read anxiously as everyone started burning with hate, and I felt like I had no choice. I had to protect myself the only way I knew how - I must take on a secret identity! I put on a mask! The mask of Vader! Yes, you read that right, I’m InVader, and I translate Talisman Emperor on WW.

I’ve always been thinking about how to reveal this because maintaining two online personalities is just too difficult. Every time I gave thought about it, however, something would happen to rekindle those flames of hate. I’ve decided to oust myself with this post and tell everyone.

I hope everyone that reads WSSTH can forgive me for making this selfish decision, but I value my work now. I want to be the owner of my words and retain the copyright of my translations. I no longer feel that it is worth it to exchange my work for the fixed pay Qidian has promised.

I’d rather take my chances, rely on the heartfelt support of everyone, and retain the rights to my hard work than give it away for a steady pay-cheque.

So, to those that read TE(Talisman Emperor), don’t worry, I’ll never drop it even if support for it declines because it’s licensed and the work belongs to me.

Final note to everyone and especially readers of WSSTH, let me shamelessly introduce you to Talisman Emperor and look forward to my new 2nd novel (I haven’t decided which site I’m going to have it published on yet.)

TLDR: KurazyTolanzuraytor is quitting Qi and dropping WSSTH, his second identity is Invader who does TE on WW. Read the full text for the explanation.

P.S. Read Talisman Emperor and stay tuned for a second novel from me!
