Qi is looking into this
- Edited
Helloo everyone! Meh here, tlc for Release That Witch, also involved in the subtitles for The King's Avatar Anime !
Unlike CKTalon and Starve who are far more respected bigshots, i wasn't invited as a translator to go back but rather a month ago participated in the forum contest and snagged a trip back as a simple reader. I only had two weeks to pack my bags and luckily didn't need any visa to go to China since I was born there (though I've lived in the US my whole life).
I actually had an great time on the trip, the webnovel office is super cute and the Product team that I hung out with was super cool. I met the infamous Yuren (the main point of contact for QI translators and one of China Literature's senior product managers), who is so loyal to his wife that he only ever takes photos with men, and the beautiful Sunny, who's shy and whose photos i'll be omitting per her request ;)
With that said, our journey begins!
I took off from near New York City where I live, it was almost a 15 hour flight! Immediately after sitting down, I somehow managed to break the in-flight entertainment system.
After an uneventful flight I went straight to the China Literature office to put a face to our mysterious online overlords
Their office is so cute!! Asides from the plants, they also have plushies and posters everywhere. I Also hung out with the famous GGP, here's a photo of him being his cute self
My absolute favorite photo on this trip: a giant kumamon plushie that they have facing the corner:
After visiting the office I was priveleged to have dinner with the ladies and gentleman intern of the Editing team:
My hotel for the night before we left for Changsha, a nice place in the French Concession:
After a quick nap (jet lag!) I woke up early to go with Yuren on a 6 hour (!!!) train ride to Changsha. I almost cried at all the delicious foods that were everywhere ready to be eaten, everyone in China takes them for granted but even the KFC tastes so much better than the US. TT__TT
After a long train ride, we finally arrived at the hotel where our star translators CKTalon and Starve were doing their filming, i snagged a quick selfie with each of them, they're so cute!
After chilling with them we went back to our rooms before going out to eat, I stayed in a hotel across the river with the Product team and GGP:
The rooms were huuuuge! I was on the 40th floor and there was a bathtub with a full window and it was amaaazing :D
The gang then went into downtown Changsha to eat some snacks and meet up with GGP as well as two team members from the korean investment division ;)
We went down this street that was fuuuull of mouthwatering local street food:
Our first stop was at a place that sold barbecued skewers, followed by a spicy crawfish spot. They had stinky tofu, crawfish, frog, and even snake! I LOVE spicy food but i'm pretty weak when eating it. I had to drink a LOOOT of soy milk to stay alive, but it was so delicious!
Our bellies full, we went back to the hotel where everyone crashed after playing some cards :)
The next day, our product manager-cum-tour guide was kind enough to take me and GGP around, we visited the museum (which I'm sure you've seen already in CK/Starves blogs) and an old chinese philosophical institute where several famous scholars had once resided.
Our cultivation predecessors:
After this, I stood around for a while back at the hotel while CK and Starve filmed with their authors, and finally we all went to the main event. Honestly it's been hyped a lot already so I'll just throw a couple photos down, you can check out CK's post for more :).
After the event we went out to eat again, this time GGP and I both suffered severely from the spiciness of Changsha's food and chugged several bottles of Wang Lao Ji ;D
Finally, we left Changsha the next morning and I had to say goodbye to all my new friends :(
Sunny was kind enough to take me around downtown shanghai to the same restaurant that CK later also went to, and the next morning I had lunch with a few more folks from the Product team before I left.
Sunny's so cute!
All in all it was a wonderful trip! Thank you so much for having me, I hope I can visit again someday :)
Bonus pic of my chubster little self hehehUntil next time!
derangedlol what are you talking about, bao works for ww and has every financial incentive for QI to fail as hard as possible lol. you realize i'm the translator for RTW right. i get paid for spirit stone money.
this is way better than patreon. lets take bao's, which is at a similar release rate to my own book. to stay 10 chapters ahead it costs you $40 per month on emperor's domination. patreon is the biggest scam ever. $40 per MONTH dude. RTW costs you less than 8 cents a day for less than 3 dollars a month. he just translates at the exact same pace just like we do except he charges you almost 10 times as much per chapter lol. you're getting scammed and you dont even know it
TearsOfRose NO! SPEND THEM ON RTW ;D
LordFourth they'll keep it but stop releasing extra chapters (it'll just be literally donations to the TL )
Daoling i mean lets be honest, patreon is way worse than this. costs soooo much more money for way fewer chapters.
derangedlol i've always said. patreon is a gigantic scam that milks readers for craptons of money and gives them very few extra chapters. this is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better for readers.
Dragonheck i only sort of understood your rant because it has no punctuation, anyway hi i'm the TL for RTW, if you spend money on this site you support me and last i checked i wasn't some machine, i TL this story because i like it :)

Thank you everyone for your support! We will be working extra hard to maintain quality and speed as we move forward! <3
P.S. look out for my own travel blog coming soon~
KingBiBiK hey buddy! Sorry for stealing your thunder. Honestly translating isnt my full time job and I was busy with my family over the new year/christmas which is why I didnt lobby until the last minute. To be honest I was 100% expecting you and alew to make a last push and wasnt sure of my chances.
