  • When you try to buy SS and click on the 'Pay now' button, you get an overlay 'Please switch to the pop-up to complete the payment'. Once you go to said overlay and complete the payment, the pop-up gets closed automaticly without any decent comfirmation message.
Back on the site, the overlay does not disappear the once the pop-up has closed itself and if you click the 'Continue' button, the pop-up gets reopened for a new payment; This may lead to people getting the impression that the payment was unsuccesful and make them redo the whole payment again and therefor buy SS's multiple times.

It would be nice is it was fixed, now i'm stuck with way more SS then I needed :(
I'm using Firefox 61.0.1, since this may be browser related.

    Kind regards

    • Why does reading a novel that has a nazi MC make you anti-semitic? That's like saying reading WMW makes you a asocial mass-murderer.....
The synopsis looks cool, might be a nice change from the usual xianxia stuff!
      +1

      • Often when I browse the current novels on this site I add novels to my library that seems good but of which I know I will not read them any time soon (due to not enough chapters released etc) but would like to keep them listed somewhere for whenever I feel like it's time to start with a new novel.
This has as effect that my library has become quite chaotic and i get notifications about chapter update every moment of the day, mostly for chapters that I am not even gonna read.

A 'to read'-list would solve this and then you would only get notifications for the novels that you are actually reading.

An other solution would be to enable toggling notifications on every novel individually but that would most probably be more coding work then just add an extra list.

        Cheers

      • Sounds awesome :D I would so love to win this :P
A visa for China is fairly straight forward: requires an international passport and at least one confirmed address where you will stay.

      • Billdoor true, that's also the reason I am here :D I should've put grammar/translations and consistency of updates before the others since they would indeed be my biggest reason not to want to pay

        • Like a lot of other ppl i started with the TDG manga. Since at that time there were barely any chapters released i quickly started searching for more, which lead me to WW and opened the wonderful world of LNs for me. Since then i've read some of the very best (and also some of the worst) that Chinese/Korean LNs have to offer :)

Flaffy ikr :D A Thought Through Eternity on xianxiaworld was great! I remember I had to take a day off at work since I forgot to sleep the first night I discovered ATTE :$

          • I have to thank the OP, this was fun to read. All this drama :'D
On topic tho everyone else but the OP is right. Before you put me in the 'Freemium haters' corner, I am a huge fan of the freemium concept and participate in half of the sites you used as 'examples'.
I used 'examples' because they really aren't. All the websites you talk about either have a monopoly or are at the top of their respective fields. QI on the other hand is smaller than it's competitors (it's ranked lower that sites like gravitytales and doesn't even touch the soles of WW).

Like a lot of other people have said before, QI needs to grow rn. And the only way to grow in the current Chinese LN landscape is for them to stick to the current situation. I know you are 100% sure that they will introduce a paywall soon, but I on the other hand am sure that not everyone at QI is as bad of a manager as you think they are. Seeing the complete shitstorm they got in recently when trying to buy-out the competition they can not afford an other drama, especially since the Chinese LN community is really small compared to the music/video/anime/manga communities you have been talking about.

Also, as has been pointed out already but you decided to ignore it, there are BIG complications if they decide to either introduce pay-wall or freemium: QUALITY. Because let's be honest, if compared to 'real' (western) fantasy novels, most of the novels on QI do not even come close either in terms of story development, character depth or just plain grammar/translations. And let's not talk about the consistency of updates.

In the end this is a pointless discussion and I don't even remember why I read all of this.
We'll see what they do in the future and let's hope they make the right decision.
