I'm struggling on writing a some sort of training arc for my story because I have no clue how to keep my readers' attention. I need some tips or ideas for writing one for my story to build my MC's development.

I've seen other MC, and most of them tend to be similar to another, including MC in harem novels. I want to know what makes the main character unique and stands out from the rest MCs if that makes sense. So, what makes the main character unique from the common tropes of MC?

Like paywall from writing chapters? From what I know about this website is that you have to pay to catch up the story, which is kind of messed up for the readers considering how much the cost depending on how many words that chapter has. I'm guessing as an author, you can't do anything to make your story free forever? It's my fault for not researching about this website that much.- Edited
This is my first time trying out Webnovel as a stress reliever from college. This is not my first time writing because I write most of my time on FanFiction.net, but I want to create some sort of my own story. I noticed that most of the authors get contracts, and I was wondering about this.
Do you have to be a contracted author? Even though, I don't plan to upload chapters daily (maybe upload a chapter once or twice a week b/c sometimes I upload chapters on fanfiction.net) nor living my life as a contracted author. This is just me enjoying one of my hobbies.
