  • The interesting thing is how you need to watch an ad to unlock a chapter... and then, the next day, it is locked because it's premium now. You now have the premium option buy everything again and get twice as much enjoyment from the same content.
I don't actually mind if they lock 80% of the chapters, but they shouldn't lock again stuff that is already "paid" for.
And yes, QI surely got money for that ad, and they promised a chapter for it.
What's next? Unlocking stuff for 24h only? Chapters for rent?

  • NeoBee Write a summary of your story, then use it as reference to write your chapters, one at a time. Example of a summary:
    1. mc dies from truck
    2. mc reborn in fantasy word
    3. mc get super system
    4. mc finds out he can earn exp for doing random stuff, like drinking milk
    5. mc learns he can use the super system to improve himself
    6. mc PUTS EVERYTHING IN A SKILL CALLED BABYFU
    7. mc learns he can't use babyfu before 3yo cause it's illegal
    8. mc, now 3.y.o. can use babyfu
    9. mc saves his childhood male friend from tiger using babyfu
    10. mc goes take bath and learns male friend is female friend
    11. insert tag: harem

  • Anjanacindy23 As far as I know, there is no easy way to remove your account.
    You can:
Change your email account and username to random strings.
Delete your comments manually from your profile.
    Remove books from your library.
Rename any books you may have on inkstone and change description/content.

It will take much longer, but achieve the same result.

    • Not sure why they didn't just put "Action/Romance" instead, but while we're at it, I would appreciate an option to skip recommendations, kinda annoying having to remove all that stuff from my library.

Well, do you have something to back your claim?

The author of Coiling Dragon (IET) is contracted to Qidian, so the copyright for his works does belong to QI, unless he didn't host CD on Qidian.

I do agree that if IET still holds the rights over CD somehow and he properly consented to WW translating and selling his work on amazon, then what Qidian did is indeed stealing.
But that is highly improbable, and the fact that WW moved out of U.S. jurisdiction to evade DCMA strikes makes it even more unbelievable.

        Idk about the other story.

        • Afternoone Well, Spotify is 5USD per month for everything unlocked while the Chinese similar, Tencent Music, charges around 2USD for the same thing.
Actually, people seem to think the translated books on this website are professional or something, but they are just Chinese amateur books translated by amateur translators...

Hello there, I just saw a familiar name, so I'll leave my opinion.
            Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Regardless of how good your premise may be, you are still not ready to present it. I would recommend spending more time reading, paying close attention to sentence structure, having a good reference on how a book is written will greatly improve your skills.

Well, I agree that people can just ignore repetitive stuff and not read, I also agree that people can either buy the chapter or not.
But did I ever say that Qidian is forcing people to buy books? Nope, only that they have a bad marketing strategy.
              1. Books are priced based on how many words they have, regardless of any other factor. Even letting the writer set the price would be a better choice.
              2. If you are selling a chapter, you don't make it free the next day. Doing so means you are charging for reading ahead. If Qidian no longer does that, my apologies, I don't check announcements regularly.
              3. The fact is that free SS encourages people to not spend money, while charging almost double the market price to those who do spend money. This policy means you're not really forced to buy SS, but if you do wish to buy, it will be super expensive. People do consider SS outrageously expensive and there are threads about this all the time.

              • I think the current cover is very fitting as it describes accurately what the plot is all about. Old cover hasn't macho enough.

In my opinion there are many problems with the current system, but I'll list just 3:

The first is somewhat related to how big the stories are and how much of them is word count filling (repeating many times the same thing for no reason, no reason at all, just to fill words, and many people agree that filling chapters with repetitive words is bad because it makes readers feel bad, because the repetition is to much for them, and that is why it's not good, get it?)
Webnovels can go above the million words mark without much actual plot progression just because of the repetition. Sometimes the same plot block is just reused over and over again. (See "Martial God Asura" for reference, if you repeat the plot of the first 400 chapters 5 times, you get 2000 chapters.)

The second problem is that you don't just pay 20USD for a book, you pay 20USD for reading 80 chapters in advance. If the book is 800 chapters long and you read 720 chapters on premmy as they are released, you are paying 180USD (I think, I'm bad at this math thing), which is just wrong. If you are paying to read ahead, you should only have to pay once.

The third problem, from a business perspective, is that the free daily stuff gives you around 600SS as pocket money every month (which is worth 120.000 words). You can just have a different account for every book you follow, so the current system kinda encourages people to JUST WAIT and get stuff for free instead of spending money. Also piracy exists, just google "qidian piracy".

                  • _Mort_ For comparison, if you buy LOTR complete collection, you are paying around 1USD for every 22500 words.

                    • C'mon guys, Qidian even separated the new arrivals section into Male/Female Protagonists... At least let them keep the mystery of whether it's going to be a homo or hetero harem

                    • Schuvi I have read the original's contract once, not one posted in any forum, but one sent directly by Qidian.

The contract ensures you'll get at least 5000USD out of your story (over two years, 200USD per month(20k words minimum), and you get 50% of whatever qidian makes out of your story, which then becomes Qidian's story.

Nice, right? The problem is on their loyalty policy and termination terms. I recommend asking a lawyer to take a look if they ever present you a contract. Funny how a few seemingly innocent lines here and there can have such absurd meanings when properly interpreted.

                      • Those translated stories all belong do Qidian, they are not stealing them.
When they first arrived in the international community, it was a huge drama with copyright strikes on amateur translators (they were all we had at the time, mostly getting some donations in return). But still, Qidian has(owns, actually) the right to do that and I personally don't mind them, since stuff like CCG got a much faster release rate.
The biggest problem with Qidian is that they will eventually paywall everything (not just with ads, but premium paywalls instead) just like the Chinese website. I don't know how much they make with that absurd price policy, but they would probably be better off with a subscription service instead.
Most paying readers wouldn't mind paying 5USD per month(60USD A YEAR!!1!!) to have everything unlocked, and that would be a reasonable price, but instead... yeah.
I don't live in China so I don't really mind paywalls, there are plenty of ways around them. Just take a look at Japanese stuff, you can't fight internet piracy by conventional means.

EDIT: Almost forgot, but what actually sucks is the original author contract. I think it's based in Chinese laws or something, they enslave people for 200USD a month and claim the copyright of everything they make.

                        • ThyUnknownSaint Also note that free SS come with an expiration date(30 days), so 600SS is more or less all you can store.
It's probably like this to prevent people from making multiple accounts, filling them with free SS over months using bots and selling it on ebay for profit.

                          Edit:
