So $64.99 for 3250 spirits stones. The average cost for a chapter is around 10 spirit stones. That is 325 chapters for $65. Seeing how the average Chinese novel is 1000-2000 chapters I'll pick 1500 for the total chapters. Let's say a novel gets hit with the premium status usually around the 250th chapter, that means there is and about 1250 chapters premiumed. 1250/325*65=$250 for a single novel. Seeing how they have stopped the daily free chapter from premium novels all we have left is to buy. If I got a hardcover or paperback version of the novel then I'd buy it purely to support the author and translator (assuming they come to some agreement on how to split the gains). But what I am currently receiving is a blatant rip-off. I won't leave the site since many novels I love are here, I'll just never buy spirits stones and only use my free spirit stones for a premium novel or two. I just wanted to let you all know the price. I suggest if you want to support a translator or original author for non premium then go to their Patreon as it will provide them with incentives to not go premium if the benefits out weigh the costs. Lastly my suggestion to qidian, if the are reading this, is to start the free chapter a day for premium novels again as it will at least keep a dedicated reader base for that novel. Thanks for reading now go back to reading your novels
The average cost of a novel
HeavenBreaker I support you bro. In my country, a dollar is like 1/5 of a minimum wage earner's daily earnings. I am a student, so I guess I will endure with the daily stone give away. Due to this new premium thingy, the only people who can afford it are the rich, or the ones with stable jobs. And why do spirit stones expire?? My ss went from hundreds to 0 due to expiration.
HeavenBreaker Premium is usually after Chapter 100. A normal novels is around 700~800 chapters long.
Just read underrated novels and you'll be fine. Really.
Read my novel! It is underrated. You will be fine.
(Actually just want to show off my new novel to celebrate Volume 2. Gwahahaha.)
MasterRabbink Missing a word. *Novel Cover. Gwahahaha.

Actually, if you'd be buying prints you'd not only supporting the author and translator, either (if I understood correctly what you were writing; not so sure about that, actually). Because most of the time there's still a publisher behind them. And if it's self-publishing, then there's normally some site (like Amazon) behind them that would still be getting some part of the share.
Just wanted to mention that :D It's still true that reading here can be quite expensive depending on the novels. Which is why I'm reading those romance novels that only cost 4 Spirit Stones on average You can totally support several of them just with the daily spirit stones :)

MasterRabbink Actually, most novels are longer than 1000 chapters. And a big number of those reach 2k with even some surpassing that number. There are really not many novels with less than 1k chapters and they ussualy have huge chapters, which would boost the price to be about the same as a 1-2k novel
HeavenBreaker An average of 10SS is super lowball. Some novels average above 15SS per chapter
Lomacris No... The one with 1000+ is the successful one. Most will be 30~50 and dropped.
If you check Novel Updates 700~800 will be more common. 1.500 is the max. 2000+ is only for a tiny fraction.
MasterRabbink Im not talking about the translation. I'm talking about the size of the raws

Lomacris Yes. I believe most of them are around 700~800 or around 2 years of development.

Taken from the completed translated novel sorted by chapters count. (As you can see, the novel that reach above 1500+ is the legendary level. Most wouldn't reach that. The 2k+ is only for VERY successful ones.) I took the first page only for 'sample'. This could give you the entire look. Remember there were millions of novel in Qidian and similar sites. The 1.5k and 2k plus is the higher 20% of Pareto rule.
You can't argue based on the top 20%. If based on the longest. Bringing The Farm To Live In Another World with 7912 Chapters (Ongoing) would totally destroyed the average. (There is a novel with higher chapter count, but less words/chapter).

MasterRabbink I'm talking about the uncountable number of novels that QI has available in China and it's size in the raws. Chinese novels are known for their massive word number and big amounts of chapters. A huge number of novels on their original site has 1k+ chapters. Also, we are talking about Chinese novels, not Korean novels, as those are known for their shorter size.
