  1. I have not finished my reading of a BL novel. But as I said once before the only BL I indulge in has been JP BL manga, which always gives me a fluffy feelings, unless its like hardcore in which sometimes the passion turns me on but otherwise not too interested in most of the hardcore stuffs. I like the feeling I get when I read JP BL manga it's like the feeling you get when you see Julia Roberts and Richard Gere in Pretty Woman. It's always magical and makes you go "Uwaaaah!". The thing that is interesting is that almost all of the JP BL manga I have read (that isn't hardcore)give me this feeling, where as I have to go on a long search for this feeling in hetero stuffs.Also would like to mention I am not interested in BL movies and TV shows, I almost always feel uncomfortable watching gay people be touchy feely in real life.

  2. I used to know a gay guy who liked JP BL but the hardcore version he was especially interested in the rape scenes that many of them had. In my experience there are plenty of rapey like scenes in JP BL manga which in the middle either end up consensual or being total rape, but always at the end no one mentions it as rape, like the shiz is okay, then they go through the "why did I like it" thoughts and the "you changed me! it's all because of you!" rant where he confesses is "love" though its just a confession of liking men at that point so the story goes on where the dude who raped him now has to try to get him to love him and not just the sex. Very predictable storylines you know that's kinda exactly what happens in junjou romantica. You would never see such scenes in a hetero novel you would have so many feminists trashing it for the rapey like stuffs. I personally don't like the rapey stuff in some of the JP BL cause its like one sided passion and that's not what I'm looking for.
    I am not sure about GL, to me as a girl I find it so icky! It's just like "EURGH!!", I cannot stomach it, I go as far as Soujo Ai, but when we step into the Yuri box, I am out the door! I am all for Saki but if she starts kissing Nodoka I am packing my bags!

      Marold 1b. Why do some boys like GL, if it has nothing to do with them? Same principle.
      2.Since I'm a girl my answer might not be helpful but in my opinion, it's more a matter of personal preference than gender. Personally, I care more about the story being good than the sexual preferences of the characters.

        Flaffy True Star WTF did i just read? I read 10 chapters of BS. It's all about Yaoi, I thought it was gonna be more about his super cool acting but so far its just all about Yaoi a little disappointed.I guess this is a mostly Yaoi novel more about the romance and sexual conquests than actual story. I'll have to try it later when I am more in the mood for Romance cause this is just not what i wanted right now.

            Silver_Moon789 Oooh, a fellow bl fan! I haven't met anyone else who likes xianxia bl. I would love some suggestions, if you're willing; I read the three you mentioned here, but could find no others. If you have some favorites please share!! :)

                Flaffy There are many actually. If you want an example, then 'Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil' is a good one. It's not xianxia, mind you, but good one nonetheless.

                    Flaffy It's not all about s*x. The beginning is really just a bit...meh, but later chapters are good. There is a plot. But I suppose it's a romance heavy plot

                          ItsmeRese Yeah it's probably just the first one I picked had to be so into the romance stuffs. I actually prefer no romance in my xianxia and wuxia type novels. Usually the girl ends up becoming a burden that MC has to help out of compensate for in some way whether she is powerful or not. It's hard to imagine couples being any other way even if it were a guy instead but I guess. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it and won't go specifically looking for you novels, just wait until one actually draws my interest despite that tag.

                          Shams I read 10 chapters of blatant sexual advances he was raped in like the 3rd chapter? I'm alright with the way he handled it but to me it lacked impact and felt like he was going to be constantly dealing with crap like that especially with that harem tag on it so, I decided to save it for another time when the romantic person in me is itching for something.

                                Marold I would agree it's the vibe. Bl does have a different feel to them. Although I enjoy both hetero and bl stories. Just depends on the execution and dialogue.

                                  Flaffy hahaha! I was a little hesitant to read that one. Still only in my list of to reads ... It's only dropped lower in time as I read other's comments about it. Just doesn't seem like a very good (or rather my type of enjoyable) bl story.

                                      Wow, I haven't checked this in two months, got a lot to answer to.

                                      Flaffy True Star is...not for ones who enjoy plot over the "romance" (if you can call it that) in the beginning chapters, and I was kind of disappointed by the ending. If I may suggest, if you'd rather not have wuxia or xianxia, to read: The Unicorn League (fantasy, shounen ai, pretty nice plot, it's nice for some fluff and adventure with a tinge of tragic backstories); 'Quickly Hide the Face of the Devil' (multiple different arcs, while some arcs are wuxia or xianxia, there's multiple other types of arcs in it, and the plots change with every arc, but with like two main plots involved (one of them being the shou and gong falling in love obv.); 'Spring Trees and Sunset Clouds' (from what I've read so far it's really fluffy and slow paced(slow burn), so you would have to be in for the long haul, depressing back story but the gong and shou are hecka cute with each other). Also, I heard you don't really want xianxia or wuxia BL novels, but there's some really good ones out there so I hope you're willing to give it a try. Some of them do indeed have it where the shou is pretty useless, but others have them where while the shou's aren't stronger than the gong, they can hold their own pretty well. And I would really like to promote 'Founder of Diabolism' as a great first timer wuxia BL novel, mostly because there's some humor, a relatively strong shou who while weaker than the gong it's probably only because his soul is in a new body, and a really nice complicated plot. On the plus side, there's also no creepy rape or sex in general so far that I've read (though that's only about 34 chps out of 117 + 7 extras), so I think you might like it? Also 'Heaven Official's Blessing', which is a newish novel written by the same author as 'Founder of Diabolism' so while I haven't read much it's been great so far, so I have high hopes( and pretty humorous so far too). All of the ones I've suggested above have kind of an equilibrium between plot or daily life in general and the BL romance and none of them have any hardcore sex scenes('Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil' is probably the only exception, but they aren't super explicit either) as far as I am aware of (though it might change in future chapters). I hope you try one of them out!

                                      Shams OMG I LOVE 'Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil', and I managed to find some other BL novels like 'Heroic Death System' and 'Cannon fodder Counterattack System' if you're interested!

                                      yummyrambutans I thought it'd be a good novel, and then found it lacking, so I can agree with your statement. If someone wanted it to be more focused on acting and the "romance" equally (honestly it's almost like the go to thing for the gong of the BL book to at least attempt to rape the shou at least once before they actually fall in love) I would recommend 'Kill the Lights'(it's Korean, but still), though just as a warning, the sex scenes are (ahem) pretty explicit.

                                      Dorothea2000 I haven't found much xianxia BL, but I know that 'Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil' has a xianxia arc (though the whole novel in general is amazing); 'You Know Too Much' is a freaking cute one shot; 'The Legendary Master's Wife' (someone mentioned it above and I checked it out it's pretty cool so far, though I wish that the gong would stop acting like a dog in heat when it comes to the shou); 'Heaven Official's Blessing' (haven't read a lot yet, but looks good so far, really funny); 'Feng Yu Jiu Tian' (not a xianxia, more historical fiction mixed with BL, but the series had 28 novels last time I checked, but you might like it, and while the beginning is pretty rough, I swear it gets better later on( though I haven't been past book 3 yet, so take everything I say with a grain of salt). I hope you enjoy!
