I'm sure that the comment section was not created so that people would race to be the "first!" to comment. While I don't want to ruin anyone's fun, it is really annoying that if I want to read what others think about a story, I don't want to read through 50+ three word comments ("thank you" or TY is barely tolerable) from people trying to earn "points" so that they can skip ads, or be a higher tier member (so they can earn more points to skip ads).

Comments, one presumes, should be ACTUAL COMMENTS from people who have something to say about the story.

    you are probably new in reading. i dont blame you but the thing is, even if there is no reward for commenting, first second third spam will always be there. the more popular a novel is, the more people would be there to claim First.
    They are competing, who is the fastest. in some chapters even the translator himself/herself would comment First.
    Being able to claim the first position itself is an achievement to these people.
    My advice, just scroll to find the comment you wanted. just dont bother giving attention to those first, just note the name and if you see that person name again, it means he has achieved the Dao of Fastest, The First of the Chapter the Autobot F5 sect.

      This is an ongoing conversation in many other threads about the way people are being rewarded being "intolerable" for those with too little anger management... The first, second, third, comments have been around for years now. So there's no fixing that situation, ever. And the thank you comments are also deeply ingrained into the way of novels so nothing to do there either, in fact, those that complain about it are really shallow in their minds, as thanking someone for their hard work is a respectable thing to do.

      No one can control what people wish to comment... I think there's a law somewhere about it, oh freedom of speech...? Regardless, if it bothers you so much, then don't bother with reading the comments section. And if you really want to discuss about the novel with others so much. Do everyone a SOLID favor, and open a discusssion on the forum for it. Where you can comment and discuss as much as you want. But know....

              I can tolerate it. Have for a long time. I actually don't have a problem with the "first" comment... were it only ONE. However when it becomes 20 or 30, it has gone too far. On this site in particular, it has blown up out-of-control. At very least, since this site as a system in place rewarding comments, DON'T reward these non-comments, or get rid of that feature.

                You sir don't know of the old F5 sect. It has been in motion since ancient time and your rebellions won't make any progress

                  Cimmerian I feel your pain, I have been using the comment section as my wormhole to editors and translators about their terrible english. Usually takes 2 or 3 months for them to get back to me but even still. I feel like some people read the chapter and just don't even notice these things, I overlook simple stuff(like when they misspell the MC name for some odd reason or change the name mid book like that's okay.....) but when it makes me loose my concentration(I have to think too hard about if that's really a word or if that sounds right if said aloud) I always feel the need to comment right away.

                  These first people could have been the first to read the damn chapter and write the comment about the error so months later when i come it's already fixed!! They are so inconsiderate of others!

                            Well, is very funny do that, I really like the feeling of fighting for being the 'First!!!', and are only a few comments of "First!" in each novel... except in 'The Path Toward Heavens', in the comment section of that novel exist really deep comments about the 'Dao of being the First'... but anyways, take it easy, try to being the first in one novel, maybe you just like that feeling.
                            And what kind of rewards they give, why have I never received anything?!?!
                            Also, i really comment after read the chapter, only if i have anything interesting to say, of course.
