  • How do you squeeze your time reading you favorite webnovel while writing?

PandaRen22 you dont..... or atleast i cant... i started writing my own novel as a form of therapy and quit after writing 6 stories with 3 chapters each.. all my time wasnt spent on writing either, it was spent researching, did this for a few weeks. when i went back to read the novels i had bookmarked i found that i was swamped.... i read CN, JP, KR novels, manga, watch anime, watch youtube and all the free hobbies you can have on the internet... found i was more of a consumer than a creator...

all in all what im trying to say is "im a lazyass"

so KUDOS to those writers that give time to provide for my entertainment, it aint much but atleast know that i as a person am thankfull that you all exist

PandaRen22 I read before writing for inspiration, or if I come out of some situation with ideas without reading I read after. Homework is the biggest variable.

PandaRen22 you should install an office suite and write there, customize it via using it on the daily and also familiarize yourself in how it works that way you can have an effective way when proofreading..
i work as a proofreader and i use ms office... on my computer i know how the software handles spellchecks and grammar halving the work i need to do...
i havent used the inkstone here at QI but considering all the other online editors the sites provide are subpar and they easily overlook minor errors so write on an office suite... spellcheck then manually proofread again to have a better quality work
edit
you can see im a lazy ass as i dont do proper casing and proper use of punctuations.... i already do that at work im too lazy to do it on my free time, also the softwares i use fix the formatting for me and i dont have that when typing in the forums

I use both. I write my first draft in Word. Proof-read it and spell-check it. Paste it into Inkstone. Then I proof-read it in Ink Stone. I usually end up editing parts here and there again. I finish up in Inkstone and copy that and paste it back into word for a final spell check. It's a bit of a weird process for me but I find it helps me when I look at it in two different editor windows. It lets me catch some things I'd miss otherwise for some reason. I also do another proof-reading after the ones mentioned above if I feel like my writing was subpar that day.

Some advice for all authors. Turn off MS Word autocorrect and just do spelling checks at the end instead. Word will still let you know if you need to fix sentences or words. I've obtained the below benefits from turning off autocorrect:
1. Improved typing accuracy.
2. Improved spelling. I actually think about how to spell words now instead of over-relying on auto-correct. It's amazing how bad my spelling had become due to over-reliance on it.
3. NO MORE AUTOCORRECTING FIST INTO FIRST. DAMNIT MICROSOFT. MY MC AIN'T PUNCHING PEOPLE WITH HIS DAMNED FIRST! This is honestly the reason I turned it off lol. I also noticed other little spelling auto-corrects I'd miss. I'd be like, I know I fucking spelled that right when I wrote it! My sanity has improved significantly since turning off auto-correct. Lol.

SnoozySloth lol..... first day training as a PR at work i was taught to turn auto correct off... since then i turn off auto correct in every media that i use.... and when i use some elses phone to text and find it on i usually get very very irritated

I used to read so many c-novels that involved transmigration, rebirth or strong female lead and that helped motivate me to start my own novel. Once I started writing, I slowly lost interest in reading (down side 😭😭😭). But I usaully give up novels after 150+ chapters because the plot gets draggy or the female lead loses her strong characteristics. Or maybe I was too focused on imagining the next scene for my own that reading other works isn't fun anymore. But I think once you have a novel you are excited to write about, that motivational side of you just kicks in.
Plus having supporters and readers always help motivate me. I remember wanting to drop my current novel so many times but my readers kept me going.
Lastly, having time is a must. Unless you can write at the speed of light, lol. I spend at least 2 1/2 hours writing one chapter, including quick edit. It's very time consuming but well worth it b/c it's your novel where you make the rules 😊😊😊
Overall, knowing how to balance your free time between the two or choosing what's most exciting/important to you at the moment will help you do both reading and writing.

PandaRen22 I use WhatsApp and Inkstone directly because most of my writing is on my phone...

I only read what in my library 😅
It's not reading novel here that take my writing time but watching drama 😂😂
Currently watching an interesting drama which I want to make the fanfic for that drama 😊

        because ctrl+c, ctrl+v :) , but who admits?

it's because we author have 48h a day.... jk... it was like reading when i'm stuck when i write (which happens often) and return to write after reading a couple (50+) chapters ;) i am a serious author who likes to procrastinate by reading and lazing around~

PandaRen22 I can't. Sob. I only follow few novels now. That was only once a week reading. I had too many stockpile that tempted this Rabbink to take a break.

SweetsTomato Same. However, the drama gave a plot idea for this Rabbink.

Lotuspalm I'm currently watching 3 dramas, The King's woman, Lost love in time and the other one that i want to write the fanfic because I'm so disappointed with the end. If you know this opening song, maybe we watch the same drama :)

Hi! I still keep stories in my library while updating 1-2 chapters a day on my novel, with 3-5 chapter releases when my readers made me happy, i.e. ranking goes up a certain spot. The thing is, I read really fast, so it does not take that much time, especially if updated chapters have less than 500 words. As for my novel, it takes me 30-45 minutes to write a regular chapter (600-800 words) and about and hour for longer chapters (900-1300 words).
When I am busy with work and other stuff, there will be a delay on the release of the next chapter, but I always see to it that the interval between releases will not exceed 3 days.
Just find inspirations for your chapter, e.g. places you've been or have been wanting to visit. This will help make your descriptions more vivid and your thought flow smoother.
              Good luck!
