It's not that people drop their novel on purpose. Writers have a personal life which means we are limited on time. Writing and editing takes a long time, esp. if you are a slow writer/typer like me. Also, the lack of support/readers make writers not want to continue. For me personally, as a full time student amd worker, it's hard to put time into my novel. Not to mention, I'm not very hyped about my novel as I used to be anymore. Plus writing used to be fun, now I feel like I have to write everyday so my readers can enjoy. Which I like that I have readers but at the same time, I feel my work isn't at its best because I wasn't in the writing mood that day

I used to read so many c-novels that involved transmigration, rebirth or strong female lead and that helped motivate me to start my own novel. Once I started writing, I slowly lost interest in reading (down side ). But I usaully give up novels after 150+ chapters because the plot gets draggy or the female lead loses her strong characteristics. Or maybe I was too focused on imagining the next scene for my own that reading other works isn't fun anymore. But I think once you have a novel you are excited to write about, that motivational side of you just kicks in.
Plus having supporters and readers always help motivate me. I remember wanting to drop my current novel so many times but my readers kept me going.
Lastly, having time is a must. Unless you can write at the speed of light, lol. I spend at least 2 1/2 hours writing one chapter, including quick edit. It's very time consuming but well worth it b/c it's your novel where you make the rules
Overall, knowing how to balance your free time between the two or choosing what's most exciting/important to you at the moment will help you do both reading and writing.

I've read the first few chapters. It's definitely not the writing and dialogues. Those are pretty good. Honestly, it might just be the readers preference. Many readers on here like systems and transmigration novels (dont know why), so that might be why your novel isn't getting the attention it deserves. Maybe change the synopsis? It's good but for me it doesn't scream, "Eye catching"

Nope. I like my job and I like writing at my own pace. I think there was some sort of word count a contract had to reach (maybe I'm wrong/misread) and it would be such a pain to do. I only do it to motivate me to keep the story going on. Most of the time, I drop my novels to start a new one. With the updated novel, I've written over 100k words. First time in my life
But getting paid is possible. As long as the quality and storyline is good.
