I have read chapters where I could fill multiple A4 papers with grammar errors... it is not a pleasant experience, and I always end up with dropping the novel.

Olivia alright we can just throw the proof reading to computers , after all I am sure the translator sometimes gets fed-up of reading the same chap again and again , he may actually add some mistakes instead of removing them due to exhaustion/boredom /spite at the reader or superior
Or just for the heck of it!

Olivia Amen! I used to spend a lot of time posting corrections to the forum. But I gave up a month ago since it was becoming apparent Qidian was not worried about quality.

checkm8 don't take it personally but it was a fool's errand from the star !
That's because as you said quidan has its own paid staff , your contribution will be more appreciated with the fan based translators (they really do need guys like you) and directly update the proffed pages on their sites

          checkm8
I usually send the translator a message on discord, I will post it on the forum if Discord is bullying me.

My experience with fan translators is they often delete my comments.

Olivia ohh that I take those as Feudal Laws hahahajja

LOL, TL/Editing as seditious activities to protest! I never considered that.

In all honesty, here is how I judge a story:

                1. If a novel is very readable as a MTL, I consider that to mean that the author writes in a style that translates easily to English. Those novels are(should be) very easy for a human to translate, hence (should be) easy to edit. As such, I expect more polished editing.
                2. If the MTL is a wreck to read, I give a lot of leeway. Mao Ni novels, for example, which I love, are usually long chapters filled with verbose language. I give mad props to any Human translator/editors who take on his novels. They must be eye crossing novels to TL/Edit.
                3. Long chapters, in general, I also cut a lot of slack to the editing. It is true that editors at Qidian can be underpaid. It all depends on the initial quality of translation that the have to edit.

I've argued for this before, but Qidian could vastly improve their stories by having a few full time proofreaders. Proofreading shouldn't take that long—unless the original editing is lacking—and a proofreader can probably get 5-6 chapters proofed per hour. That means 40-48 chapters reviewed per day, per proofreader! It would have minimal impact to release rates.

A fresh set of eyes can make a huge difference! Hell I would do it if they paid me $4-5 per chapter :P

Olivia I have also had much better responses from Discord than the forum. The cover art of "When a Mage revolts", cover misspellings etc, I actually get a response when I direct message someone on discord.

checkm8 same here although I am normally extremely careless , I promise that I will do a good job too , I will even enhance it if you like
But only if someone pays me off course !
