ELITE MEMBERSHIP
WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL
If I get the elite membership, what happens to my spirit stones?
Are they useless now?
Also, will I get some kind of badge?
While I'm at it, anything special for the chinese new year?
Myriad_Dreams You can still use your SS to unlock chapters or send gifts. Subscription is just there to give you a peace of mind and not worry about how much of a binge reader you are and not breaking your bank.
WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Is there a way for me to get to the subscription page through the normal website? is there a hidden link somewhere? I've been itching to spend my money on this for a while
I love it, the moment i saw it was available i bought a subscription. I think the price is just perfect and affordable for the ones who love to read daily, while keeping the SS option for people who read sometimes. Hope we 'early' supporters get a badge!
KingxRice The hell are you talking about? Netflix is like $10, how the hell are Webnovel justifying the cost? It's ridiculous, the only people willing to pay $25 per month are the whales already spending more than that. The majority of people wont pay for it - which completely defeats the purpose. A monthly sub should be affordable for everyone, that way it increases demand for a product that has virtually no supply limit or costs. 100 people paying $25 is way less than 1000 people paying $10.
I have no sources to back this up, but I imagine most users are free. Paying $5-$10 per month for a novel or 2 isn't worth it. After that are the premium crowd (me) who do see that as worth it. Finally, there are the whales (the least populated group).
If you make the Elite Membership $5-$15:
- You'll lose money from the whales (but you're doing that with the $25 anyway, so it doesn't matter)
- You'll guarantee money from the premium crowd - most will sign up, they're getting more for the same price.
- You'll draw in free users who will now think $5-$15 is worth it for the whole library.
As it stands, $25/month will only lose your whale money.
Unless I'm just horribly mistaken and have no business sense whatsoever :|
I don’t see the option to subscribe on my profile. Can anyone show it to me, please?
LittleSleepyFox im one of the "whales" and i find the price fully reasonable.
All the time people complain that they want a subscription system, then they get a system and are still complaining...
You have the choice to read unlimited for $25 or just pay your 10 something bucks for the books you read.
LastError I think its too expensive aswell, its 25,99€ on my side
That exchange to 29,87$
I bought the promotion month because half price, but probably wont renew it.
I would pay up to 20$, so around 18€ maximum per month, anything more and it just isnt worth it anymore
LastError The point is, anyone willing to pay $25 is already a whale. It may be a subscription system, but it might as well not exist.
Maximilian Same, got the half-off version, but won't renew. The absolute max I would (hesitantly) pay is $15, I would say $20 which would equal ~£15 but apparently exchange rates don't exist on this site and I'm not paying £20.
LastError It is a terrible price point that is a double loser. It reduces money from the whales and it vastly reduces the audience as well.
Price points for ebook subscription services have an established ceiling of $9.99 for a vastly superior service. An extremely high, but supportable, price point for a niche service like this is $4.99; given the quality and quantity of books (both of which are low), $25/yr is more reasonable. If they are making tons of money off of whales, then moving to a subscription service is a terrible idea.
Hm~ so a subscription does exists; I just have to update the app. Ok, good to know.
The $25 does seem high right off the bat, but I suppose people can subscribe only once monthly when they're not busy and then binge..
Just like another similar topic, $1 is about 5 chapters. So $25 of SS regularly equates to 125 chapters. Reading as a "free" user, you get about 20-ish SS a day, so that's 60 chapters a month.
In other words, $25 seems a premium for getting about double of what you can already read for free. But again, if you're reading well over 125, say 200+, then it is indeed technically worth it.
However,

You make a good point about reducing from whales and deterring free readers.
In that case, it would a win-win situation if Webnovel were to make a survey about desired price points in order to capitalize their revenue.
If I subscribe, what will happen to my current sprit stones??? Please let me know @WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL
Myriad_Dreams You will have badge later on haha. Aside from that, you can use the SS to send out gifts to different titles
Is it available for ios user?
WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL Will subscriptions ever be available to non-app/non-phone users?
