Interview with the Author [I Fix Air-Cond = Known as AC for the rest of the article]
Q1: What made AC interested in writing in the horror genre and is there any tips?
A1: Horror genre novels have limited audience. One of the reasons is because they are too scary and many readers do not like that. The other reason is due to a weak MC [Main Character]. You have to understand how pitiable most MC in horror novels are. They’re constantly chased by monsters and ghosts, have to explore dangerous locales and face life-threatening issues.
If I am allowed to transmigrate into a novel, I will never pick a horror MC. And this is exactly what a webnovelist needs to consider because many readers see themselves as the MC to get a vicarious sense of enjoyment.
I wished for people to gain a greater appreciation for this genre. First, one has to balance the scare factor. It cannot be too scary or it’ll scare away the readers but it cannot be too tame because that will lose the colors of a horror novel.
The second consideration is how to make the readers feel like the MC is not too weak and powerless. After a long consideration, I chose the format of a Haunted House. The locale is unique because the one being scared are the visitors and the MC is the one scaring others. This turns the common tropes used by other horror books on its head.
Q2: When are we getting the female character cosplay? [The author promised to cosplay as a girl some time back.]
A: Before the end of Jan. It’ll most likely be a period costume… the other costumes are a bit too much…
Q3: Will there be a webcomic for My House of Horrors?
A: Yes. Many companies have already reached out to Qidian. I anticipate Webcomics and anime.
Q4: Is there a similarity between AC’s personality and Chen Ge’s personality?
A: I suppose you can see Chen Ge as the most perfect version of AC. Very kind, sunny, gentle and lovable.
Q5: Will there be a relationship plot for Chen Ge in the future?
A: Temporarily not yet, the focus will still on the main plot.
Q6: Have you gotten scared by the plot when you were writing?
A: Yes, that happens very often… AC is a very easily scared person.
Q7: Which is AC’s favorite character among Chen Ge’s Haunted House employees?
A: Fav. Characters are Zhang Ya, Yan Danian, Xu Yin, Xiaoxiao and the Pen Spirit. It’s hard to choose.
Q8: How to fix a broken air-cond?

Q9, Will there be a printed version for My House of Horrors?
A: The copyright for that has already been sold. They will officially go on sale on April 5th.
Q10: When will the next sale for the side products be? Will there be more choices?
A: I’ll get professional help next time. Don’t worry, there will be more stuff going on sale.
Q11: Will there be more character development for Xu Yin?
A: Xu Yin will play a huge role in the later part of the plot. He will slowly find back his ‘heart’.
