I have a question for future reference.

Does an author's vote for his/her novel count when the rankings are finalized?

I understand it would be to boost the novel's exposure during the contest but wouldn't it be a little unfair? Like just make a lot of accounts to self support and win. Yay. No need for others' votes.

I noticed the Chameleon: My Real face story released 10 chapters on the first day... For these writing contests, aren't we supposed to start writing once the contest prompt is released, or is it fine if we write something and just release it whenever the appropriate writing contest comes up.

If it's the second, it doesn't really feel like a contest... That's happening in writing prompt 68, and it kind of kills my desire to keep writing. (comic for the story was uploaded in 2017...)

Trash_Buffet You can have as many chapters as you want and release them when you want within the prompt timeframe, also long as you write to the total word count, and per chapter word count. It also must be a new story to webnovel.

WN release the prompt on the TGIF notification, to give writers time to plan and stockpile before the prompt officially opens.

Since power stone votes over time determines the rank places, it really pays to come out of the gate fast and furious with mass released chapters or a solid chapter that will sucker in further read interest. Then continue to pump out regular release updates to retain readership and hopefully draw in new ones.

Everyone one has their own method of meeting to the prompt. The common theme is keeping the story going at a regular pace to ensure power stone votes remain steady (as can be) and maintaining to that word count. Since you want to gain a high number of votes at the end to be in to win.

Veronica8 That's just reiterating the contest rules. I'm asking about the spirit of the contest, and what webnovel finds acceptable or wants out of their writing contests.

As is, the writing contest is basically comparing new stories with stories that may have been uploaded somewhere else for years, if we don't care when they were written. It's not really a contest without fair conditions. So for Chameleon, perhaps the author is just really prolific and has a lot of time... But for the WPC#68 top story that was clearly conceived years ago, it's definitely not a fair comparison.

        Wow.. Congrats to the winners.

Well, if you aren't reading "The billionaire's only love"
I don't know what you are waiting forπŸ˜€

Veronica8 hi i just want to ask what happens if my entry novel in the contest is not yet finish at the end of the deadline because I still want to add more chapters, can i still continue writing it regardless if the contest is already finished?

Redgurl Sure can. As long as you meet to the word count limit and prompt, you're in for the in. I have two past competition entries still running.
