Wew look at webnovel attempting to poach popular authors right under the noses of their competitors.

I'd recommend picking up some stories which have been dropped by other but still have a significant reader/fan base:

For example:
- Versatile Mage
- Terror Paradise
etc...

Reinesse I see. I guess really haven't thought of such an outcome. Then my other suggestion would be to hold workshops for writers every now and then. It can also also raise the awareness of "writing novels whilst making sure they are writing in proper grammar." The authors should've checked their own works before posting.

Dang it, sometimes it can get really tedious and grinding to automatically "correct" the glaring mistakes in my head from time to time.

Plus, since a big portion of readers here are non-native English speakers, I believe that their purpose of reading these novels in English to begin with, were actually to improve their own English! [Though I wouldn't say all okayy. Please don't sue me]

In short, I wanna read good novels!

Sorry if I'm getting off topic, but wouldn't it be cool to hold a writer's meetup for Webnovel's international writers? We could exchange ideas in an even more better environment/fashion, hence ushering the writing community into a new age of creativsm. Be it xianxia, wuxia, xuanhuan, Western fantasy, sci-fi and more....

But then again, I can only dream T.T

      Don't mind little me.

I'm a Watty winner from Wattpad with millions of views who came to post my webnovel-inspired book that nobody on Wattpad wants to read. And dude, let me tell you. Popular Wattpad authors get tons of solicitation from companies and publishers, both sketchy ones and legit but mediocre ones. The naive authors will fall for it. Ones like me will not even respond and just mute. I might have even gotten solicited for this site. I don't remember; there's a few Chinese sites that contacted me. But I mean, I didn't come here because Webnovel may have once invited me. Pretty sure I only came to read comics at first. It's actually against Wattpad's guidelines for people to slide into your DMs and try to sell you a deal. Sliding into my DMs or business email and asking me to come to your site fails with wise authors 100% of the time. Also, the fact that Webnovel is having its users recommend with monetary payment is weird. It's a really bizarre bribe. Generally, people will recommend things because they want to. "We will pay you if they sign with us" really cheapens it all. The "support" from readers. The author's work. And the fact that Webnovel isn't using it's own trained staff and is going to take random recs from people after an Amazon card. I wonder if quality is even a concern. This just.... Smh. Poor business plan.

Enlightened_Being I've done a couple of contracts and I'm not sure what all Webnovel asks for, but with websites like this, it's typically not full rights. If it is full rights, run. You never want to sell your copyright, film and television rights, non-digital publishing rights, etc. If they want rights to publish the story on their site that should be the only thing requested in the contract. There's possibility of the first right of refusal, but that shouldn't be a big issue for most. It's pretty standard in contracts these days. On that note, 50% is standard for digital one-website publishers. It's not a bad deal at all considering traditionally published books get half that or less.

lenapresents i'm not sure if it's gonna be applied on this one but i sorta heard that the royalty ends after you've finished the novel here in webnovel. but thet are asking for whole complete novels so i guess not. they might have revised the contract too since they won't have any losses anymore if they do if you look at webnovel's rather quick growth.

lenapresents webnovel probably did not contact you. they prefer asking readers here first to know if someone would read them if they did move over here. i don't think readers here would recommend thewattys winners...

Reinesse It says Ongoing/Completed, so my guess would be royalties for the whole thing.
Royalties for the chapters only applies to a website like these, Ebooks and Amazon sells their books by volume or the complete package, no royalties for chapters.
I think Qidian wants the 50% Royalties for the whole book for life.
If not they would have clarified a long time ago.

Reinesse I don't remember seeing anything about royalties ending at book completing. Kind of weird they stop paying when a book is completed anyway, since more readers like to pick up a book once it's completed.

lenapresents that nobody on Wattpad wants to read. A

That's a shame because WBFK was a big thing when I became active on that site. I hope your WN journey is just as fruitful. I'm still posting there, but not hoping for much. My reads have stopped completely over there. Anyway, WP issues.

Welcome again. Hope you enjoy it here. Just some things to keep in mind if you post here.

                    • You can't delete your novel. Inkstone doesn't have this capability. If you want to delete your book, clear everything out, put a delete label of some kind on it and set it as suspended.
                    • No HTML is available on chapters. Again, Inkstone application isn't built for this. So, this means you can't use bold, italic, paragraph formatting that you could in WP.
                    • Tags only show when 10 x others have tagged your story. 10 is the magic reveal number here.
                    • Ratings only show when it can average on 10 x ratings given.
                    • The rating and review system is a big hit or miss. At least you can delete a spam or troll review.
                    • Non contract stories have a harder time being featured. It's possible but you need to satisfy the basic criteria (20K+ words, regular daily updates basically pushing you near the 100 chapter mark it seems, high views, high powerstone votes.. hmm, anyone else want to add?) and can only have your book featured once and once only. So, a lot of us use Discord and these forums to self promote. Here's a starter pack that might help here with this: Shameless Promotion List thread

                    Anything else, just ask.

Reinesse Right? It's not even like any of these books here. I just remember some Chinese site contacting me and I'm like, "My book isn't even like your stuff. Wtf?" XD I used to have a business email in my profiles and recall a company repeatedly messaging me, but like I said, there are a lot of Chinese companies looking to take on Western clients. So who knows. XD
