I don't know the health of my new book. I am struggling a lot with it. It's very new and I hope that it goes strong. But with so many new writers, the future looks a bit bleak.

ALICE IN THE SEVEN LANDS - 82:1 (People need to read it. It's very very new with just 6 chapters)

CAN YOU MEND MY BROKEN HEART? - 174:1

    niharikabhol you've got 82:1 and 174:1 ratios...

These are great. My novel never even went lower than 200:1 ratio...

Anyway, ZQSC for today is at 250:1.

niharikabhol Those be good. Anything under 500:1 is good. Once you reach 100K views and about 200 collections, it's really a matter of maintaining readership by then I feel. The collection adds is where it starts to matter most from this point on.

I have started writing this novel around 2 months ago and then I just dropped It. 2-3 weeks ago, I came back to my novel and I started thinking that I should not let this story go to waste and I started writing It again. I don't Intend to drop It now and I update whenever I have the time. Right now It has 16 chapters, every chapter Is around 1k words long or more. In the first 11-12 chapters, almost no one had read the book. I would get around 100-200 views per day. Only 20-30 people put the book In their library at that time so I was feeling kinda down and I wanted to drop the novel since I saw It was not doing very well. To my surprise, a couple of days ago, the novel boomed and right now I have 72 collections and 21 k views. it was as if the book had been reborn from the ashes just like the phoenix bird. Even at this moment, the book Is doing very well. What I'm trying to say Is that If you don't give up and you continue to pursue your dreams then one day you will achieve something great just like my book has been reborn from the ashes. Here Is the link to the book If you want to check it out:
      https://www.webnovel.com/book/13625329706573405/DIO's-Bizarre-New-World

The current views to collection ratio Is 291.

ElectroBrain1 Wow actually i am also wondering on how my book is doing, it has 11 chapters with 1500 words per chapter but now it only has 4 collection, i dont know if this is good or not so good.

yondi Sounds like my first book's stats when I just started publishing on WN. XD I'd say it's too early to tell because I hung around the almost 1k ratio before slowly dropping to now steadily around 600 (and that's with not updating it in the past several weeks). With each consecutive novel (3 total now), my ratio with each also improved from the previous. So increased tenure on the site and more exposure definitely bumps up that ratio.

Ah these numbers make my head spin.

But it interesting since I get little to no powerstones (bless those loyal readers). Thank you for the guide.

My best work is at 1:635
I'm just happy it's growing and that new ppl are reading it.

While my newest doesn't count, it literally has 1 collection add for it's 2k something views.

niharikabhol It can be a challenge here even if you exhaust Swap Reviews and Shameless Posting. I share out my books to Twitter in hopes of gaining reads. That's why my views can spike and collection adds/votes remain low. You don't need to be a member to read books here. Unlike Wattpad.

niharikabhol I second this. I can’t think of any way except contests, and without contests it’s much more difficult. Connections don’t seem to help here that much either, meaning—If you’re friends with popular authors, it doesn’t mean that your book will get a huge boost (at least that I’ve seen; I don’t know firsthand, so I’m presuming).

We should have better recommendations or discovery features for authors onsite rather than the forums.

                500,400 views with 1188 collections.
                My ration is 421:1

I just hope to get featured at this point.. hehehe... I'm hoping for more promotions to increase my collections :(

Chryiss I've pretty much pitched my case for a better Search Function somewhere else in this forum.

If WN can spend some money on Content AI in their search function (using metadata mapping), they will be leaps ahead of the game. User Content and AI intuitive features is the big push for Social Marketing right now. Now is the time for Webnovel to gain a leg up in this area.

They need to fix their Search function for greater and better ease of story discovery, otherwise, they'll be left behind. I can already see, based on feel of their site, Wattpad is pushing for this opportunity. Inkitt isn't far behind. Neither of them have a model to go off yet, so it's experimental.

Ugh! that's my old job talk rambles. I think I just aged myself 10 years with this crappy spiel. :penguin:

niharikabhol Same, I "disconnected" basically after high school, so I've lost keeping up connections with hundreds of people. In college, most of the people I meet are "business" connections on LinkedIn. XD

                  505,800 views with 1198 collections.
                  My ration is 422:1

I just hope to get featured at this point.. hehehe... I'm hoping for more promotions to increase my collections :(

I have 2,740 something views and 8 collections, which gives a ratio of approx 350:1 for a new novel, with like just 9 chapters.
I do not know how these statistics work...It that good for a rookie?

Funny thing I noticed recently after I updated some of my stories. Except for MWTL, I've lost a few collections for my tree and BTS story. With the latter, I gain some and then lose a couple, but I'm baffled by the former since I updated twice with nice long updates after a month. I guess they didn't like the two chapters? XD

Chryiss Reader trends can be unpredictable sometimes, since readers themselves can be that way.

Then there's technical glitches that see books readded. I've had to do that with some of the books I read when the sync goes out of order.

I'm going to track my stats monthly as this would give me a better indication of reader interest. At the moment, I haven't introduced any new content, so most of my book counts haven't moved. To be expected.

I'm fretting over the increase of interest in To Like A Man. Surely people can see this is a dropped book and I've even advertised it as such, why so many new adds? This is my fastest mover (which isn't a lot btw).

And here I come to drop my collection to views ratio.

Currently I have 1026 collections with 13 chapters. I´m quite satisfied because I have started this novel about ten days ago.

                      102000 views and 1026 collections= 99.4 ratio. I´m really happy with that.

GreatSage_Master1 I know the reason why your ratio is very good.
When you write popular fan fiction, you gather tons of exposer and fan base, example Broly The Saiyan of Legend got 3 million views with over 7k collections.
If the author transition into original authentic novels, they will gain tons of views and collections easily with the existing fan base.
The same thing can be applied to you.
You already got a very popular fan fiction with over a million views, with that existing fan base, It's not surprising you got a very good ratio with little chapters.
It's a very smart way of advertisement.

Enlightened_Being Oof. That makes sense. Maybe I should've waited to upload my serious work of fiction to Webnovel after creating my fan fiction. XD Of course, I wouldn't know that the contest would be held and that the fan fic would be popular. But in that hypothetical, at least I would have had more prewritten chapters to update more than once a week by that time. Meh, we'll see if I ever make another fiction on WN that this strategy works for me and this particular fandom lol.

Hyowha Sorry, I was asked to create a new one since the old one was taking too long with post loading. Forums couldn't keep up with it. I linked in the original, but didn't really think much else I needed to do.

Sorry if it felt like an attack, it was trying to keep the thread you started going.

Veronica8 It's fine, I am only joking haha.

When I opened that thread, I never realized it would gain that much traction, and I don't really feel any emotional connection to it.

I was just surprised when I scrolled through the forum amd thought, hey that looks familiar hahaha

Hyowha You started a cool topic. It's the best thing we have to keeping a trend. So, a lot of us were keen to keep it going when the original thread started playing up.

I think someone made a short-lived thread on this, but I can't for the life of me find it, so I might as well ask here since it's related to book stats.

Reader Demographics --- What country are most of your collections from?

I found it interesting because most of mine are from US, but my Big Hit book has a lot of Filipino readers I think because they like k-pop a lot.

Since the top three are always from the same countries, I guess the more interesting demographic are the two countries listed afterwards.

It makes me wonder if that's the reason (other than being a fan fiction in a contest) why my last book was more successful than my first two which have more similar collection numbers and growth along with demographics. I catered to the largest demographic audience on here; thus, I got more collections?

Chryiss Yeah. I remember that thread. Probably buried deep amongst all that "yes.com" spam.

All my works are predominately read out of the PH & US. Especially Zaldizko. From the piddly amount of collections remaining on that story, I can safely say that 85% of the story is read from PH readers and the rest are classified as Others :sob:

Besides the procrastination NPop story, I haven't been able to write properly at all. The collection drop really bothered my psyche for all other stories. So, been doing cover art recently. Playing around with Daz and modding Famine and the boys. I have a lovey-dovey cover version of Famine and Leinard I'm making (haven't uploaded anywhere yet). I'll probably keep this one off the radar. Just nice to image the men together.

GreatSage_Master1 Sensei! I bow to your greatness. Seriously, fan fiction is the toughest kind of story to write hands down. Anyone who can pull of quality fan fiction is friggen genius. I've tried my hand at it, crashed and burned.

I agree Enlightened_Being pretty cool strategy and result.

Haven't done this for a while. Interest and reads has gone from bad to disaster. Not encouraging, but oh well. The risks of being different and niche. Right now, the trends are not in my favour.

Fourth Zaldizko = 1043:1 Hoping people like cheesy cover.
Zaldizko = 1520:1 :sob: I give up on this one. Flop at the box office.
                                  Sunflower = 412:1
Reborn = 795:1 FIrst time it has ever reached below 1K. Taken almost half a year.
Dragonieth = 226:1 The only worthy contender.

I go drown my sorrows in making boys love covers now.

My collections came back, minus a few that I take for genuine drops.

                                  Zaldizko is now 347:1.

Phew! I have no idea how that happened. It definitely was a glitch, maybe when I cleared my cache, this fixed it. idk.

At another story sharing site, I lost all my followers bar 2. :pensive: I'm being pranked by the universe. Definitely.

Is this some cultivation test that great authors go through? I hope it is.

                                  8 days later

Hmm. I wonder if this thread is still relevant now that we have the new wireframe dashboards.
I'm old school. Whilst bugs are still being eradicated, I'll still use.

                                  TMS = 425:1
                                  Reborn = 761:1
                                  Zaldizko = 353:1
4th Zaldizko = 1.150K despite being a poor player here, I'll still bank my focus on self-pub this one next month.
