ace_cap Saying that when the 3 is on top of the regular releases, making it 4-6 chapters released a day is demoralizing. I guess anything less than 3 won't be released in the future. Why bother mass releasing when you call it 'not a real mass release'

Note: I'm in charge of about nearly 40% of those books that are released in 'not a mass release' releases.

CKtalon We appreciate all extra and mass releases. Please don't be demoralized by the opinion of a single person. T.T I'm sure many love seeing the long list of mass releases since it means more variety and chaps to read.

CKtalon NB I am talking about translations here coz I know the situation for originals is different. There was a time when mass releases were at least 5 chapters and some novels had regular releases that were 3 or more so yeah, my standard was set by how webnovel was before. Gradually they lowered what they called "mass release" and I remember commenting about that before too. If you find that demoralizing, then that's sad, but like somebody said, it's one person's opinion. I'm sure it won't keep you up at night. Webnovel likes lowering the standard little by little, probably counting on the newbies to be happy with how things are since they don't know how things were. Oh well.

ace_cap Gotta be content with what we have right now. Translating or writing originals, whichever it is, I don't think it's easy to continuously pump up chapters after chapters every day. Anyway, what other sites can offer authors or translator that mass releases weekly.

ace_cap That was when 5 were on top of like 1-2 chapters a day. Now that the base release has been increased to 2-3, it's naturally harder to actually provide more.

I am of the opinion that a mass release is like 10 chapters. I guess it depends on the chapter length but when FMHM had a 5 chap mass release and the content is like 5 pages you start to question if it is worth it to "Mass Release".

CKtalon Interesting. I did not notice any increase in the regular release rate. If anything, it has gone down for several novels. In any case, what you said is an excuse, but it still doesn't make 3 chapters a mass release, especially for those romance novels that have really short chapters. It's more of a mini release. A mass release implies you can binge read. Nobody's saying it's not worth releasing 3 chapters, just that it's not really a mass release.

ace_cap The several novels you talk about are just like 10-20 books over 300 translated books. Overall, there is a rise in release rates. There will always be some books that will have trouble maintaining a speed due to variety of problems (real life issues, etc). And if a book returns to normal, there will be bound to be another book that will have problems later, and that's what keeps your attention that MANY books are having problems, when it's just a handful for a period of time. Once the issue is fixed, things go back to normal, but that is often conveniently forgotten.

Years, ago it was 3 chapters a week, and 2 years ago, it was closer to 10/week, now it's almost 14/week for the longer male chapter books, and about 21 for female books. Together with the nearly weekly mass releases, that raises some books to 17 (longer) chapters/week.

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL positive praise for another nice Mass Release week round up

Thank you authors for your extra work this week. :hearts:

CKtalon Not here to argue about what "several" means or the release rate of novels. When I joined, the release rate was more like 14-21/week for the regular releases, and mass releases were 5-10. For at least one novel there was a mass release till the end. Calling 3 chapters a mass release after all that sounds absurd regardless of the explanations. I can understand your reasons, but I still think real mass releases are 5 or higher. Three chapters are just extra releases. I'm sure readers are thankful, however, there are certain expectations that were set by precedents for what mass release means.
