Yudi They are contractually bound to share profits equally with the authors. So after the translators/editors take their cut, whatever is left is split between the authors and Qidian. This results in a win-win-win situation between TL/Editors-Authors-Qidian.

So for instance, if the TL/Editor team gets 70%, authors will get 15%, and Qidian gets 15%.

I honestly would've preffered some sort of flat fee per month (Netflix basically) rather than this pay per chapter with spirit stones system that's coming...

My personal problem with this "premium"progam is not as much about the paywall as it is with the fact that if you stop paying for chapter you get stuck, after all, if I pay SS to read the next 10 chapters before schedule, that means that I won't have any chapters for the next week because those chapters that I have already paid for are the ones that will get unlocked next week, so there will be there nothing for me and i have to pay once again, aside from that huge "flaw" i am not that concerned about this new method (for now).

Honestly, I find a bit exaggerated the fuss about the amount of chapters released per week getting reduced (If it actually is reduced in the first place, I have no idea) (at least for now), because even if it is reduced from, let's say, 14 to 7, it would still be pretty good for a being free release (However, I would be preocupied if they did that to the chapters of less frequently updated novels (can't give examples because I am kind of new)

QI pay their translators a fixed rate even before they started their website. To put it simply, they INVESTED MONEY. They didn't earn anything at the start, instead, they gave their OWN money to pay the translators and editors, hoping for them to provide work that will gain them profits in the future. Qi is not a fan translation site, it is a business, owned by a company, IN ORDER TO GET RETURN OF INVESTMENT. To put it simply: Qi sends money first, then they wait for the ads to let them earn back what they give.
About adds thingy, look at the announcement, Qi is operating at a lost. What does it mean bro? The money they are investing is SO MUCH MORE THAN WHAT THEY EARN BACK. The fixed payment for the translators are still there, BUT THEY ARE NOT EARNING ANYTHING BACK. Why would the investors or the people behind Qi continue supporting or pouring in money on something that will never provide them profits or even RETURN OF INVESTMENT (ROI)? -copied from Arch's

QI also said they pay (royalties) to authors (both them and QI don't get any from patreon), so its only natural for QI to find a way to get more money so they can avoid bankcruptcy and pay their workers and authors.

Even if all of that reasons are lies and they're just being greedy like you said, i don't see anythings wrong with them wanting to earn more money.

They respect us by giving us free chapters and free SS regularly (they actually don't have any obligation to satiate our greed for free chapters), can't we show some respect by supporting them? we don't have to pay money for that, just respect their commercial programs would do.

Idk about u guys I'm reading atm only what I want and let the other novels stack up (currently at 408 spirit stones and they keep rising :D even though I just check in and read only Library of Heaven's Path atm)Ofc I have other novels in my library but I let them stack so I can read them all when I feel like it.

Noire The way I see it, Flaffy is bringing a good point about ensuring quality as an important responsability of qidian if they want to start a premium program, and also, the fact that most people (including me) are having a lot of problems trying to understand what is qidian even saying with their first post, was it intentional or not it is not something I know.

Noire I am answering posts here because its been annoying me for the longest time. From novel updates up to this announcement. Instead of people interacting genuinely with fellow readers, we have dozens of other people just maliciously bashing on it.

About your critisism about the comunity not liking this premium system (and according to how I understand your stance: demonzing iti) and complaining about it are not exactly wrong, this premium program already shows a few problems for the comunity, if it will ruin qidian to some people or not will be shown by time and will depend of everyones opinion, but if they found problems they must show them as fast as posible because is this thread gets buried or forgotten by them in a few days, those problems will stay, and then it will be close to implosible to change it.

whichever good point you may have about why the premium progam it is not as bad as some people make it sound is lost by writing stuff like that because, at least from my perspective, it is not as valid becuase I feel more grudge instead of a problem with the argument itself

Yeah, Pheonix. I actually have no problem with the Premium on its own. I only worry that the quality will be able to match the price. As has been said by some people. Either way, I most likely will never be able to pay for novels, I'll have to get a job first, lol. If there's any way to help by watching ads, it has always been my mentality that I should do as much as I can, so instead of using SS, I would often watch the ads instead to read the chapters.

And seeing that there is an alternative makes me very glad. But also a bit scared that in the future most of the novels will become premium, and I'll be going through 12 SS a day a chapter... (cause they're removing the ad function to skip the payment right?) Just seeing my SS go down so quickly, I feel like that'll cause me to feel so heartbroken. I always felt like that, even before the prices went up.

Again, I approve of helping the authors, 100%. Anything I post about the subject is just me worrying about how it will be in the future. I'm too much of a worrywart to stop thinking of the worst conclusion.

noobslayer it was far similar from a movie.. cause they already have the released chapter at there hands, so the readers are more excited to read it and they can purchase as soon as they are capable of paying.. having no similar in span of time to be use.

I need an explanation RTW had a weekly of 14 free chapter per week u only increased 3 chapter from the original 14? We're is the 10 premium chapters because I'm not paying extra for no premium should be the free 14 plus 10 premium for a total of 24 chapters a week.

Ok people, lets stop spreading misinformation. THIS IS NOT A PATRON KNOCKOFF, and here's why.

With patron, you pay for advance access to a set number of chapters. For example, $5 a month and you will always be 1 chapter ahead of free users.

Now let's look at the QI system.

Let's say we have a novel that releases 2 chapters a day, HOWEVER, free users only get 1 chapter a day.

The first day, free users get to read their one chapter, paid users get to read their 2 chapters. Paid users are now one chapter ahead.

The next day, the QI releases another 2 chapters however BOTH those chapters are locked behind spirit stones, only the second chapter from the FIRST day gets unlocked for free users. Paid users are now two chapters ahead. Now let's go to day 3, not only are both of the day three chapters locked, but even the second chapter from DAY TWO is locked. Paid users are now three chapters ahead.

Now, let's fastforward a year from now. I find a great novel and I start reading it. I get to the end of the free chapters and want to keep going because I love the novel and it's fun to read. I now have to pay to unlock THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY chapters.

Again, this is not a patron, a patron does not have an expanding pool of advanced chapters to read.

TL:DR
Locked chapters in a patron program:
Day 1 - 10 chapters (example number)
Day 2 - 10 chapters
Day 3 - 10 chapters
Day 100 - 10 chapters
Day 300 - 10 chapters

Locked chapters in the QI program: (assuming 2 chapters a day with 1 chapter a day for free users)

Day 1 - 1 chapter
Day 2 - 2 chapters (remember, free users still need that second chapter from day 1 unlocked)
Day 3 - 3 chapters (because free users are only now unlocking the FIRST chapter from day 2, the second chapter from day 2 is STILL locked)
Day 100 - 100 chapters
Day 300 - 300 chapters

i am little worried as i am seeing an increase in consumption but no increase in production except by adding cash but if i spend cash why would i waste it on this or any translation site (quality control is obviously not implemented as stated many times above by different people so why pay money for something that used to be a passion project but now is a machine needing to hit quotas what happens when translators burn out do they just get dumped and a new comes along with a pen paper and poor grammar and more importantly well i am too tired now to think of anything else a little miffed so ill let myself rant here maybe i mean maybe i just needed to vent but if i have to burn all of my stones and i only have like 400 just to keep up and need to pay ill have to drop this site because it would be not worth it i have over 400 bookmarks to several stories novels and web novels that have been accumulating but i chose here cause it had the least obtrusive paywall and decent rate of updates and OK quality but it seems things are changing to a more mainstream model of story hosting so ill stick around for awhile but i might as well catch up on the story about the slime who kills a draon and had nothing to do with any sort of chinese cultivating in any form whatsoever (ya i am definitely burning out on the cultivating thing that why i love RTW)

WEBNOVEL_OFFICIAL this new system is not too good and might need improvement... i have unlock some advanved chapter (about 4 or 5 chapter) and then next day i realize today free chapter is the one i unlocked.l yesterday... so i lose one free chapter here by unlocking it... maybe some small compensation... maybe partial stones returned??

Also the cost is too high... i have seen 18 stones one for one chapter... if you reduce the cost to earlier (4stones)... or max 8 stones... it will silently drain people pocket without they realize it... since it's cheap... but when the stones req is high per chapter per day... they will feel it and rebel to your system... you might not realize small leech sucking your blood... but when tiger bite you... you will feel it and flee...

Hope this system reviewed and improved...

Estriole chapter cost...is based on...chapter length...you pay to...unlock chapters...ahead of time...for example...if one day later....you paid for whole book...noone's going to refund you....every time a free chapter is released....

eros depends on the novel. free chapters will come out at the same/reduced rate but yeah basically you can pay to unlock higher release rate
