Free SS on daily check-in is now 10ss instead of 22ss - 28ss.
Watching video has been removed completely which is 5ss and 5exp.
Weekly reading has been cut down by 15ss.
Don't know what will happen by weekend.
Waaaaaat

Sadly yeah. But I don't understand the expiration of my ss. Can you please explain me why?
I used to recieve about 28 SS per day except on those days that the Check-In gave more, but today I only got 15 total, the video reward was deleted, and the daily check-in only gave me 10 SS...
and now the Weekly check-in only gives 20SS instead of the prior 50SS?!?!?!?
Adypoker I’m sorry, what. You got around 28 per day? I got a flat 25 per day, with weekends granting a little extra. That’s including watching two ads per day.
On a side note, yeah, it is complete bullshît that they got rid of the video ads for 5 stones option, and reduced all time based reading bonuses to 5 instead of having the last few granting 10. QI really doesn’t want nonpaying readers to have any semblance of a good time...
You all seem to have not noticed the fact that Gifting 2 Books only gives back 5 EXP now, instead of the previous 5 SS and 5 EXP.
Changing Spirit Stones to Coins?...
Removing the watch video in the rewards?...
5 SS for daily check-in?...
5 SS for all reading time?...
Removing the 5 SS return for the gift?...
And many more that I haven't notice yet...
Honestly, I could accept that previlege chapters because there is benefits in it BUT this just sucks... The Spirit Stones collected is not even enough to enjoy a novel.
I very much prefer removing that EXP thing than removing/decreasing my Spirit Stones Rewards.... It's even better if you replace the rewards for EXP to SSԅ( ͒ ͒ )ᕤ
Your SS expired after 30 days I don't know of coins.
Your SS expired after 30 days I don't know of coins.
I used to gather 25 SS on a weekday and 35 SS on weekends. Now that they’ve removed the videos and lowered the amount for check-in (a flat 5 SS per day, 10 with multiplier) my daily amount has lowered to 20 SS per day. And to top it off, they made it so you only get 5 SS per reading time milestone. I would love for these changes to be reversed, but I feel that is unlikely.
Please don't decrease ss
I really like the novels on here but wtf I may have to go pirate which sucks because the translations are worse then the ones in here
Ok, so you don't know. Your comment is based on assumption, then?
Well, let me share this knowledge with you:
CKtalon Ads do not generate 5 SS worth of revenue. They generate about 0.25-0.5 SS each. Before Premium was introduced, it was using ads for revenue, and it was sorely insufficient to pay authors, translators, editors, and the publisher.
And here's what I posted before about how ads per click works:
Cantiara I wasn't around when they first introduced premium chapters, so I can't say much about their reasoning behind it. And I didn't mean to barge in your convo, but I couldn't help but say something when I read the part of your post about WN renegotiating with advertisers because they should be paid more for those ads. Yeah, sorry, I could be meddlesome like that.
Well, the thing is, what you wrote, it doesn't work like that. WN, in this case, is just one of the many host partners of Google Adsense service. How it works is basically, advertisers pay Google to run ads on the Adsense network, then WN applied to become a part of that network (which is not a simple thing, you need to be eligible and approved by Google first), and then once they became a part of Google Adsense network, they get an ad code from Google and place it on their site/app. Then Google pays WN when those ads appear on their site/app.
So WN can't renegotiate with those advertisers directly, there were never any initial negotiations with them, to begin with. And no, they can't negotiate with Google either, because, well, I'm not gonna call Google a tyrant, because tyrant is a strong word, and we all do benefit from a lot of things that Google gives us, but they are one of the biggest players in the tech world, and so, if you're using their service, instead of negotiating with Google, you'll have to conform with their standards instead.
As far as I know, if you're a host partner, how much revenue generated by these ads depends on two things. Per Click and Per Action. Per Click is the most common type, WN gets paid every time we, readers, click and view the ads they're showing on their site/app. But this doesn't really generate a significant amount of money. The other type, Per Action is the one that generates more money. WN gets paid when we actually perform an action after viewing those videos, like downloading those games advertised in the multiplier videos, etc, because the action provides a direct benefit to the advertiser. But not many people do that if any at all. Well, I, at least, don't.
So, just like CKtalon said, and he must have calculated those numbers or gotten the data from a reliable source, the ads don't generate sufficient revenues to pay the content contributors here. I think the premium chapters would generate enough income if the ratio of paying readers is greater to non-paying readers, and I'm assuming it isn't. That's why they introduced Privilege to give their content contributors more incentives to do their work well.
So, the revenue that WN gets from a user clicking an advertisement and watching it is much much less than the cost of a chapter, which is how much on average? 4-7 SS/Coins? Even giving out 2 SS/Coins per ads per user still doesn't give them any profit. This is why they are trying to get more people to purchase SS/Coins, which is logical, isn't it? After all, they're a company, not a non-profit organization, nor a charity.
So, maybe try to get informed first before getting opinionated.
We get SS/Coins for using power stone votes now.
Wow, vote trading really will be proper business transactions now.
I don't really understand, how the system here are supposed to work, for I'm reading here only a few months, but I certainly don't like this big cut of free ss.. I only hope I can read the one novel I am reading now till the end with my saved ss and I will only dream then about all the other stories, I wanted to read. Anyway, I have a lot of cheaper paper books all around and mangas and webtoons for free, so I won't starve
Hope that they will change this in the future, because I certainly won't reccomend the app where you have to pay more than you would pay for reading the real books.
I'm not a WN's rep, so I don't know anything about their business plans either, but I do have a suspicion as to why they do it. But again, since this is just my suspicion, please take it with a grain of salt.
It's simple. The farming mode is to cater to free readers or readers who can't afford to purchase a lot of SS.
Remember a few months back when we were all getting that annoying pop-up asking us to give the app permission to track our location? I think they did that so they could classify their readers based on their location and hence, indirectly, their income.
As I said in one of my previous posts (in another thread), it seemed to me that their current pricing strategy is aimed at people that live in NA/EU, which statistically have a higher income than people who live in, say, South East Asia.
My guess is people who live in South East Asia get to farm more coins by watching more ads than those who live in NA/EU. This way, it's a win-win situation for WN. Those who live in countries of which average wage is significantly higher would have to purchase SS/Coins anyway, simply because they want to read the novel, and they can afford it. And those who live in countries with significantly lower wages could still enjoy the app while still bringing WN the traffics that they need as well as notable ads revenues.
Again, just my surmise. Please take it with a grain of salt.
RASVIE Hope that they will change this in the future, because I certainly won't reccomend the app where you have to pay more than you would pay for reading the real books.
Do the calculations first before claiming this. Here, I did it for you:
An average paperback/hardcocer adult book has around 90k words.
An average translated Chinese web novels has around 3 million words.
An average paperback/hardcover adult book with 90k words costs USD$ 9-10 (e.g. Harry Potter).
An average translated Chinese web novels with 3 million words costs 15,000 SS/Coins, which, if you convert to USD, are around USD 255.
1 average translated Chinese web novel is equivalent to around 30 average paperback/hardcover adult books with 90k words.
30 average paperback/hardcover adult books with 90k words would cost you around USD 300, which is more expensive than an average translated Chinese Webnovel book with 3 million words.
Conclusion: Your statement that I quoted above about a web novel being more expensive than real books, is simply not true.
