  • Removing XP gain from reviews. Or changing the review system.

The entire review system boosted by a XP gain system is just plain wrong.
99.99% of the reviews are complete and utter garbage XP farm and makes it close to if not impossible on some novels to actually see if its any good or not.

Not to mention the TRUE rating of the novel is never shown since pretty much everyone rates it 5 stars.
You could write a novel about killing kittens and puppies, but have something else in the description and it would get a perfect score >.>.

At least you added so you can see if someone read any chapters, but would be a better if the entire xp system went away from reviews. Or put something in place so people who just write reviews for XP (0-5 read chapter derps) gets automatically filtered and hidden and wont affect the score, but they still get their shiny XP.
And if they actually pick up the novel they can get a popup after 20+ chapters to rewrite their review.

The whole xp system was a terrible mistake. I just gave up reading comments in most novels because its just a sea of people spamming to get xp.

We have been asking for a very long time to have moderation or at least a change in how xp works, but Qidian has done exactly nothing so far. I guess they are only enthusiastic about getting more money instead of making their platform actually enjoyable for the readers.

LilyK Well, they did give an option for authors do delete those reviews. Before another storm breaks out, I think the idea of filtering is actually good. People will now spam those reviews, since the xp gain is so abysmal. To get to level 7 (from 6), you need 24k? (I think) xp... :D you can get 25xp daily... That hurts :D that's about 900 days (two and a half years), just to get from lvl 6 to 7. I'm not sure about the app, if users get some more xp daily.

I mean, I can see why they limited xp. They don't have lvl 7 programmed into the website. My guess is, they don't want people to advance before they take care of it. I could be wrong of course. But yea, filtering and for example minimum chapters published (i.e. the novel needs at least 20 chapters or specific word count, before reviews can be placed), would be a good idea to rein in those spammers. Who knows, maybe they will implement something in the future.

Ormathon yeah. Think they initially did it to get chatter on books. Their readers weren't originally talkers by nature. I don't think they realised the issues they'd create. This company works in weird ways.
