  • Someone's Selling My Book On Amazon, And It's Not Me

CCmei Yeah, I do want to do that. But I can't since I don't use Amazon. They have guidelines for reviews, I can't fulfill it.

CCmei Yeah, already did. I actually got to know about this from a kind reader, pretty nice guy really.

Sigheti but it's ranked in the rankings regarding paid books. It's even in rising pretty quick in the rankings, pretty good for a novel that was posted on January 10. Sadly, I won't get anything but stress from this.

Also had a reader who paid for it, but they deleted the review when they found out it's not me who was selling it. Found out from another reader who sent me a name, then I got here.

ChuYang if not mistaken. you can register your work in some "Copyright" organization for this problem. it's doesn't matter who copyrighted your work, they will help. I'm not sure about the details. but even government website used this organization for their copyrights.

Oh man. That's harsh. I hope Amazon takes action soon. Since you have evidence of original works and witnesses to support the claim. They should be able to do so. Amazon doesn't take plagiarism lightly from what I've heard.

Edit: I just noticed your novel is contracted. Place a request with your Editor to file a DMCA with Amazon. This is Webnovel's issue to deal with. They'll have been weight to stop the plagiarism and reclaim compensation.

This is different to a "my story has been pirated" scenario. The theft has gone on a reputable distributor. As Webnovel is the copyright holder, they'll need to take some action.

@ChuYang I went on Amazon and submitted a review. It's now pending for approval. I hope that this issue gets resolved for you!

Also, I noticed that there was a report button for plagiarism or inappropriate content on the book, so maybe at the very least, others could report for inappropriate as a way to call attention to it be plagiarized?

wow gago yan pre ah. this is also webnovel's problem. better i report mo sa kanila or sa editor mo since you're contracted. tapos hintay ka lang sa magandang resulta. 100% na mawawala yun.

Veronica8 It's actually just that, I have talked to my editor on what to do. Basically told me to report on my own, that's it. That's why I'm asking other people to help cause I have no one else.

I don't blame the editor or anything, there should be a reason why he told me to do it on my own. There must have been a precedence over everything I'm going through right now. Otherwise, I don't think they'll really go to great lengths just to get a single novel like mine out of Amazon. Guess I'm just too small right now.

NyanKittyAshlii That's alright, there's many requirements for posting reviews there. Thank you for the effort, though. It means a lot to me.

The_Good_Devil I don't know if I could do that, since I'm contracted. Will check on that after the problem is solved, but the report was done without the need for one.

If Amazon doesn't do the right thing, that's probably what I'll do next. Though I would have to clarify that with my editor first.

ChuYang Basically told me to report on my own, that's it. That's why I'm asking other people to help cause I have no one else.

WTF? Did he even try to help you? What good are they if they can't even give you advice or aid on something like this? Honestly, I know editors work hard, but that's a brush off. I can't recall if you contacted Amazon. Too lazy to backtrack.

This is what one author did that helped him reclaim his work. Took 20 days at the time. You'll need an Amazon account. I've adjusted the steps to reflect this environment.

                  1. Filed a copyright claim via https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G200672400.

                    • This page takes to you all Amazon locale pages. Click the page for your location.
                    • sign into your Amazon account.
                    • List yourself as the "Rights Owner". As you're still a shareholder of your works.
                    • When it asks for ASIN/ISBN-10 -OR- Product URL, that's your Webnovel book link Realised that's actually the offenders book link they're after eek. kitty sorry.
                    • Complete and submit the rest of the form.
                  2. You should receive a response email from the Amazon copyrights department.

                    • Your scenario is this one: For a product you never listed on Amazon.
                    • They'll likely ask you to do this, "Reply to the notification you received and let us know that you have never listed the reported product. We will investigate to determine if an error occurred."
                    • do this or what they ask in your reply back.
                  3. Amazon will work the claim.

It may take between 2 - 20 days for investigation and processing. They'll take down the offending books and deal with them. What they won't be able to do is remove the book page unfortunately. At least those books won't be for sale.

EDIT: Also, do you still have your email from your editor with the contract attached? Keep that handy, just in case Amazon needs further evidence of ownership.

                  Hope that helps.

Veronica8 I've done this already, they said to wait a couple of days for them to give me a response. Thanks for the help, appreciate it.

Also, I can't recall it properly but I think showing my contract to anyone is against the contract. I just want my work to stay mine, honestly. Even though contractually, Webnovel owns it now. Will keep you posted for what happens next.

ChuYang I'm sorry I couldn't help since I'm not really familiar with Amazon. But I'm interested with your novel since if there are someone who want to claim your work as their, that means the real deal are good. Forgive me if my question is rude or out of topic of this thread, but how many chapters your novel would consist of? Is it end or completed yet? If not, when would it complete/end at what chapter? (Estimate)
Whats the release frequency? One chapter daily or two chapter each day?

GegeSadewa Oh man. This one will take years to finish. I'm not planning on ending it any time soon.

I can't really tell you an exact schedule because I don't know myself, but I make at least five chapters a week. Usually make mass releases when something good happens in life, but I don't stockpile chapters most of the time. I make the chapters the night before, mostly. Even mass releases are written the night before.

Novel has at least 50 chapters per volume in mind, Volume 1 is 58 chapters and Volume 2 has been taken down for a rewrite. Rewriting Volume 2 would take a while, so a big chunk of my readers are waiting for that to finish. But when its finished, should be around 50 chapters as well. Right now it's only got 13 chapters. Expect Volume 2 to end near late Feb to early March.

As for why it's being rewritten, I just want to flesh out the novel. Not to say that version 1 was bad, in fact, it's a pretty okay read, better than most of the other works with a similar premise. But I don't want just 'okay', that's a disservice to the work itself. Or I'm just a picky idiot, both works.

Anyway, Volume 1 is a decent read by itself, just left myself some room to continue the story in Volume 2.

As for if you would like it... Depends on whether you like reading about someone who thinks they got things handled, and they usually do, but things just never work out when you are dealt with a bad hand. But still, you try to make the most out of life. Perspectives matter a lot in how shitty you think life is.

There is a system introduced pretty early on, but it's not something that is his alone. If not for his ability and perseverance, he'd be somewhere between good and average.

There are romance aspects, pretty heavy too. But it's not really a love at first sight kind of thing where the MC wooes the FL off her feet by saving her life or some stupid shit like that. There's a reason for everything that happens between them. I also didn't make her stupid, or unlikable.

Action is based mostly on actual physical interactions. Humans get shot, they die. Punch someone too hard, they die. It's not VR so there won't be any numerical damage shown every time a hit is dealt. The abilities are used in ways that are in line with people's personalities. Abilities are also created in line with their personalities, since that's one of the crutches the novel stands on.

There are parallels here and there, and I like my foreshadowings. Overall, the novel is mostly character driven, since the plot moves entirely on character motives. I tried to keep this vague so I don't spoil specific plot details, do give it a try so you can judge for yourself.

P.S. - Please don't comment without finishing the chapter first. I got some people commenting without doing so and then find the answer to their question written a few paragraphs later, if not in the next paragraph. Really irks me to no end.

ChuYang Contract email was just in case Amazon needed to see it to validate claim. They probably won't need to as the book link is evidence enough.

I still think this should've been handled by your editor since they are a proper agent for Webnovel. At least you were able to get through to Amazon.

Hope it all turns out well. All the best.

ChuYang Thank you for the quite comprehensive answer. I usually pick novel that's already end/complete (beside some that I already fall into although not end yet). But I'm interested with your novel premise (kingdom building, romance...... um... Release That Witch? Lol) so I'm going to try reading it. Hopefully you won't drop it and could complete it till the end.
I know I would know when I read your story, but sorry if I ask again here; does your novel also one of those that has the points collection function?
P.S. - Don't worry, I usually comment after reading the chapter. But alot of time my question are already answered on the next chapter. Lol
