Why can you only have a maximum of 9 fast past on your acc? I am buying coins to read so I can get a big number of fast passes to read a novel I will probably never re-read. And we know fast pass only unlocks a chapter for a certain amount of time. To me, this system is stupid and I will probably not buy coins anymore and just slow down my reading so I can read for free.

Unlocking chapter with fast pass unlocks it forever.
You can have up to 21 free passes at your account at a time, counting only the dailies. 7 days x (1 for vote, 1 for energy vote and 1 for checking in) = 21.
So what happens to your fast pass if you have more than 21? I lost 6 fast pass already
Fast passes have a weekly expiry date, #1 fast pass will expire the moment you can get #22. Thus if you continually get fast passes the max you can have built up at any one time is 21.
Thank you all that gave feedback. I was not aware fast passes can unlock a chapter forever. Still not being able to stack the passes is kinda dumb, especially since I need to wait for my bank to purchase coins. It would be awesome if I could have saved 50+ passes until that time so I can still read while waiting for the transaction to happen.
Lynn_Townley every fast pass expires after 7 days so you have to use them otherwise they will be lost
Actually, I'm quite sure you can go as far as 25 fast passes, but that would require you to unlock them at one day just before the reset, do everything daily and a week later, unlock them right away since they do not expire at certain date but time as well. (I think)
Why can't I use points to purchase fast pass? The option has been completely grayed out from the start

You're right, if you timed your first pass to just before the next day turn over it should be possible to get another few fp that way, good catch.
