"Authors will need to release a minimum of 1,500 words daily for the entire calendar month. There must not be any breaks in between the dates of uploads. We will ensure that every contracted work that goes Premium will receive a minimum of US$200 in the following four months, provided that the below requirements have been met.

Note:

At least 1,500 Premium words/day: US$200/month"

If I release a 3k Chapter, is that good for 2 days? Or must I release every day, consistently, at least 1500 word chapters?

MarcusHelm Yep. It's as stated. 1.5k words per chapter per day. You can't miss a day for any reason. Miss one and you're out of the program.

Azzack well, if you went premium before the Jan 2020, it won't matter much as it was only for those who went premium starting this year.

I might have a sixth sense since I go premium at 20+ Dec(don't remember the exact date), so the old minimum still works for me.

        MinxMean

Do you know if it is only for chapters under a premium paywall, or every chapter published after you're contracted?

Arkinslize Only locked chapters/behind paywall (to make it fair for FP users).

And to clarify, since this seems to be a misunderstanding that could arise from this thread: the contract is not requiring daily 1.5k word updates. It is only requiring it for those who want to be eligible for the Minimum Guarantee System.

Also keep in mind that that's to apply for the premium contract. Once you have the contract it's quite obvious that webnovel stops giving af, there's tons of books only releasing 2 to 3 chapters a week that are still pay walled despite no longer coming anywhere close to the 1.5k daily requirement.

            Darth_Xiane And they can.
MGS means that, for the first 4 months after going premium, the author CAN (mind it's not a must) accomplish the following requirements: publish a minimum of 1,5k daily, not skipping a single day. If the author does so, he's eligible to earn the MGS. If the author opts for not doing so, nothing happens.
So, if I wish to go premium but for n reasons, I don't write 1,5k daily, it's not like they will kick me out of premium and unlock my walled chapters. It just means that I'm not eligible to earn the MGS.
AND, the MGS is valid for the first four months after going premium. Meaning, if I don't wish to keep updating 1,500 words daily after getting my four months of MGS, I can do so.

Adding on. If you still want to go premium. This is how it's see this would work with less hassle and to ensure adherence to the condition.

            • Complete the story first offline. Or complete the rest of it offline before going prem. When story is finished and ready.
            • Start schedule-posting 1.5k chapters on a regular time in the day.
            • Score a contract (if not already) and eventually sign the premium layer.

I figure it might be the reason some stories look like they're dropped and then, bam, new chapters under the lock system.

Veronica8 That's the attitude I'm currently taking. I was just trying to calculate how many words needed to be in my chapters in order to fulfill the requirement. However, if it is daily updates, I only have to create 120 chapters before uploading. If there's an automatic timer, that would be perfect.

MarcusHelm There is the ability to schedule chapter releases in advance on Inkstone.

When you go to publish, you can select a future date and time to release the chapter. I do this a lot more for the fact that I can continue to proof check and be sure that I'm publishing a good quality chapter of sorts.

MarcusHelm Hey I think this is an old way of earning, now you can earn up to 400$ (If you are contracted) by writing 80k a month. Regardless if you skipped a day or not you will still earn it if you've uploaded 80k!

MisterE05 This is actualy new MGS. The old MGS where you could earn up to 400$ for writing 80k words in a month is over (unless you started your premium before the end of 2019, then you can still use it till its over)

                  LanaAugustine
Only contracted works can earn through webnovel

                    a month later

I got a contract invitation a few days ago but I kinda scared about the 1500k words daily uploads. Because I'm an engineering student It's kinda hard to upload daily. Darth_Xiane is not uploading daily is not good when you got contracted?

                      JRodjun

It's only for the premium chapters after you sign the contract. And it doesn't mean you have to update 1,5k daily. If you can't, it's fine too, it just means you won't be eligible for their Minimum Guarantee System.

Cantiara i Already wrote 50 k words in my noble, so im curious about the contracts. What are the requirements to have one?

[unknown] well, the webnovel suddenly message me a contract invitation. I don't know if it's alright to post the invitation message.

                            [unknown]

Make sure you have consistent release rates and quality and send them an email at writershelper@webnovel.com. Or you can join the inkstone discord server and contact a content editor there. They will be able to provide you with a more detailed explanation.

                            [unknown]

You don't have to post it here. Did you get the message through inkstone? Then it's a legit contract.

And again, the minimum of 1,5k words daily is only to make you eligible for their MGS (Minimum Guarantee System - a system that gives new authors the assurance that they will be getting USD200/month for the first 4 months after their novel is going premium, regardless of their novel's earnings), which shouldn't be your goal to write in the first place anyway. If you decide to sign the contract and are later unable to upload 1,5k words daily for your premium chapters during the MGS period, there won't be a contract breach. It just means that you won't be able to get the USD200/month during the first 4 months after your novel goes premium. So, if the only thing that was keeping you from not signing the contract is the daily 1,5k words requirement, I'd tell you not to worry about it.

[unknown] How do I go premium and lock my chapters. I signed the contract few days ago. Have been planning to lock after 100 or so chapters

                                Thanks for the info. [unknown]

Cantiara after i wrote 50k words, how long does it take for you get a contract? I mean how long do i need to wait? Tnx

                                    Anne_ter17

A contract is not something that you will automatically get just because you've reached the 50k words requirement. There are other requirements that you need to fulfill.

As I already said in my previous post, you also need to prove that you have a consistent release rate and quality. A consistent release rate is something that can be obtained simply by updating daily or weekly, as long as it's steady, but a consistent quality depends on their evaluation of your novel. E.g. Do they think your novel is good enough for their users base? Is there an audience for it? Does it have the marketability factor? And so on and so forth.

So, unfortunately, I can't answer your question. The period in which writers here have to wait before they get offered a contract varies; there's no fixed answer. Also, please keep in mind that there's always the possibility that your story may not get contracted at all.

If you haven't joined the inkstone discord server, I suggest that you do. You can find a content editor there that will be able to answer all of your questions. Content editors are the people who scout around for good new stories to offer a contract to.

                                    Good luck.

                                      7 months later

So if I don't release a chapter every single day for one month but with a set schedule and then the next month I post every day 1500+ words than will I be eligible for the minimum pay of 200$ for that month?

                                        4 months later

tomoya_sensei From what I know, it shouldn't affect the other month. Only the month where you failed to post a single chapter daily.

Does anyone here knows when exactly would the MGS payout be handed out in case the criteria is fulfilled?

FreshMelon the payment is sent out at 10th of each month and can take up to 10-15 days to deposit, depending on your bank. Most people get it in 2 -3 days though.

                                              17 days later

AXOSFK How are you suposed to get MGS (where you are required to update 1500 words daily) if you are no longer updating the story (since its finished)?

MotivatedSloth he sounded like he was a chef hired to cook in the kitchen daily but he ended up making enough carbonara for months.

                                                Then he asked...

Am I still getting the mgs?

                                                Of course not, duh!

I hired you to work daily, not one shot!

AXOSFK If you mean finished in the sense that you have 1500words x 180 days worth of stock pile that you can schedule to auto publish then it can work. But if you don't then it doesn't.
