1. I currently write one chapter in three days and 800 words each chap. So, I have been feeling kinda lonely with only one friend and my brother commenting on each chap. There used to be more but most of them left me. And I think I can do more if I put effort. So, if I want to get more readers (more comments actually), which option do you think will give me more out of the two?
    a. Increase number of words per chap and continue with the same schedule.
    b. Update more even if it means decreasing the number of words (If I try with my current speed and time, I can get to updating daily with 600 words per chap).

  2. Other than the options given, do you have any suggestions to catch more readers. (like does Power stone help? review swap? anything else?)

Thank you in advance.

Increase your words per chapter and keep the same schedule.

*write the story in your own pace, use timed release when you're quite far along for a daily release rate untill you finnish, this also gives you some breathing room.

      • aim for 1500 - 2500 word chapters

      • use grammerly to spellcheck the worst of it.

      • write an engaging prologue that stands out

      • avoid the bad clichés like a Primordial Royal Sovreign Dark/Ice/whatever Pheonix... For a mythological creature like a pheonix...

      • look at what works for the stories you like, and what you can learn from them to apply to your own.

      • ensure your story is legible by splitting the text up in sufficiently small paragraphs to be smartphone friendly and professionally formatted (look at popular stories for examples of how to professionally format your stories)

*Promote your story on social media

*keep schooling yourself on how to write stories by following things like the writingexcuses podcast.

      • write what you want to, don't let your eventual audience determine a thing.

      • dont beg for attention to things like patreon accounts if you don't have a single completed story yet without a large following.

*Keep authors notes in the authors notes.

      • Dont use smileys or emoticons.

Those are the most important guidelines that come to mind.

      For your story's landing page:

      • Find a more appealing title
      • Get a more interesting cover
      • Rewrite the summery in a more engaging, dramatic, grammatically correct and legible way.

The same summary can be written with the same content im half the size with twice the appeal.

I recommend watching the classic world of warcraft intro for inspiration and epic movie trailer voice overs to get a better idea of how to really make the summary / introduction to your story pop.

I also want to point out that the name mentioned is really unique, but as a result, hard to relate to and even more difficult to remember, which is something to consider when aiming for an english reading audience.

As a result your storie's landing page, despite the fact that genre and content wise mentioned it lines up with my usual reads, it doesn't appeal to me.

That mainly indicates a packaging / marketing issue as the hardest part is getting people to click on your story, then getting them to click on past the landing page.

The crystals combined with the current image is not something that sparka my curiosity enough to click it just because it shows up in one of my search results.

Its too bare bones to stand out.

The landing page and the way the rest of the information is presented, doesnt flow enough to inspire confidence in this being a good story, which is a real shame, because you got really good, sincere, positive and constructive reviews.

Unfortunately, people rarely read them anymore if the summery / introduction above it doesn't appeal.

I recommend looking for a cover that works to transfer the mood in a mysterious way, a good example of a novel doing this is The Mech Touch, as well as The Oracle Paths. Both of those covers are abstract and mysterious enough, yet indicative of the overall mood of the story and the genre they take place in to draw your curiosity.

A picture is worth a thousand words. That means that by not getting the right cover image, you lose the majority of your story's appeal.

Likewise the title being rather non descriptive doesn't do many favors either.

That's about all that is immediately relevant that I can think of... I hope this helps.

Thanks for such a comprehensive guidance and support. I can't believe you checked out my book to answer this question.

But, should I actually change title? Will it create any problem among my readers.

And thanks, I will try to increase the amount of words and also make a better and catchier synopsis. I am very bad when it comes to small stuff like those.

Getting a better original cover will be hard given that I have no money in the pocket. Do you have any suggestions for that?

          Princey?

My advice, stick with a flexible routine you can manage and focus on the content delivery. Sounds like right now you're in first draft stage. It's more important to get the story finished the way you want it without interference.

Subsequent drafts are for the fine tuning for an audience. If you're up to that stage and need validation that's where critique groups can assist. 😉

PrinceofLightning untill your story gains traction, just use an image you like even if you dont own the rights for it.

You can get decent book cover gigs on fiverr for low prices, starting from 5 bucks, so it's really not that pricey.

Get a cheap cover that suffices as your first paid one and something more elaborate when you got some pocket cash out of your story.

            ........................................................................

Changing the title is up to you. Being a guy, When I see an image of a crystal and a title thats pretty much the same... I associate it with some kind of chick flick and move on...

Multiple tag words in the title also helps in being found. Same for the summary.

Its called seo, search engine optimisation.

I have a specific prefference for story genres and search specifically on those tags. Then select to see the most recent updates.

Thus for webnovel just having the words mentiined in the title or summary works but doesnt add much to the ability of being found when using my search method.

What repeating said information within a structure does do is attract the attention of non local intelligent search algorithms like google and thus might bring more readers that are not native to webnovel to your story.

              PrinceofLightning no.

There is no search option to look based on reviews from what I know of on mobile application.

In addition because of people posting top reviews on their own stories and others spamming senseless shit as 5 star reviews, the only reviews that are read are the most recent if someone is bothering to read them at all, and even then, the focus will be on the lowest rated reviews as the 5 star ones will always be dubbed as unreliable trash by avid readers.
